CS 1.0 Beta as mod for Half Life was first;p Then latest version of the Counter Strike came out.

Versions after 1.6 are made by individual people (not valve supporters) and many of them can be played through Counter Strike 1.6.

Advantage of 1.7, 1.8 or even newer versions is that, there are usually more weapons and different classes which gives you e.g. more hp but slows you down.

Why? cuz MW2 its just game for fun that noone will remember after some years and CSS,...
