I'd like to know what the music is. It's exactly my kind of music, but can't recognize the track. (Kudos on great music to clips about astronomy equipment.. the perfect match) :D
The 3.5mm, Hmm suppose it depends on your scopes focal length and aperture size, I'm a true believer in the 50x per inch theory. I have a 10" F5 Newtonian and chose the 5mm Hyperion for my high power needs, this gives me 241x at my 1200mm focal length, there's also the exit pupil equation to consider with high power oculars too don't forget.
Have you tried using the 8mm, how did that turn out?
I would assume you mean through that Meade Schmidt Cassegrain you have, Whats the aperture and focal length of the scope?
Assuming its 70mm@ F10, with the 5mm this will give you a mag of 140x, and thus the max for this scope given the 50x per inch of aperture rule. Would need to know a lot more to give an answer, are we talking about astronomical usage using the scopes drive and tripod, or some sort of terrestrial work?
Ok, the 8mm eyepiece with the short tuning ring decreases the focal length of that eyepiece to 6mm, which coupled to your scopes f10 tube will have a mag of 116x approaching your scopes aperture limit, the exit pupil (light beam) at that focal length will be extremely small resulting in the dark image. There's no getting away from this, the 8mm is the max you can use for this scope, for a mag of 87.5x, the only answer is a bigger scope. or a camera with ultra low light performance.
The eye can adapt to the 5mm or 3.5mm much better than the camera can, even so using the 5mm on your scope will render an exit pupil of 0.5mm so even the eye will be challenged..You should keep the Exit pupil around the 1mm mark to avoid dark images. In your particular scope that translates to a maximum of the 8mm eyepiece getting you 87.5x with an exit pupil of 1.25mm. Hope you are following me here?
Yes this is made with the Casio z25 zoom dont work when you shot a movie because of the sound from the lens, you can zoom in but you have to stop shooting the movie zoom in and start again

a question please:
is it possible to use finetuning rings with an Orion stratus 8mm eyepiece?
i think yes but i need to be sure. Thanks.

@julienrebec, i dont know, but the eyepieces look the same
bosb33r 1 year ago
why do you need all them eye pieces ?
becca0668 1 year ago
@becca0668 I don't have them all, i got the 17 and 8mm that's enough ;0)

@bosb33r Lol sorry im just new and just looking up telescopes , because im getting my first real one ............so i just want to understand it ^_^
becca0668 1 year ago
Skip the 21mm, its the underachiever. Great upper mid level eyepieces these.

Yes that's for sure! still want to know how the 3,5mm is

@KnightOfChrist1 8mm is perfect! but when i use the finetuning rings the image is getting darker and darker
