Actually Pop idol was made for the U.S BUT none of the american networks wanted the show. so the British producers tested the show out in there own country and saw how well is did there. Then they came back to try and pitch the idea again! Fox network saw how phenomenal the show was, and so here we are now 8 seasons later lol with the HUGE success of american idol it paved the way for other shows like canadian idol, australian idol, etc... lol
