  • hey if anyone could help me i would be most grateful. i just bought an alexi 600. and every time i go up on the whammy bar the strings hit the pickup. i tried to loosen the pivit points but the screws wont budge and i dont wanna break it. so if someone can tell me how to fix this problem that would be great!

  • whats 6/64 in new money. (mm)

  • i dont understand the mesurements hes using, anyone can translate to meters or inches?

  • on the lower part of the guitar, the strings seem fine. They are about 4/32 from the fret, but higher up the neck the strings are really high up around 6/32 and is really hard to play. How do I adjust this?

  • @nightbreaker The measurement is made at the 12th fret (or 17th) for a basic reference - the distance should be approx 4/64in. At the 1st fret, the distance should be about 1.5/64in (0.021in) ... so, from head-stock to up the neck will vary perhaps a total of 5/64in maybe - they should not be the same, but also not more out of line than I suggest. Check the INFO section of other vids in this series for a PDF procedure -- hope this helps!

  • @nightbreaker it is possible that your nut is too high.

  • Do you adjust it on the pickup rings? What if I have passive pickups?

  • @dieandgoaway You have to use a ruler and measure to the top of the pups ... there are two screws, one on each side, that you use for adjustments.

  • how do you find out all of the specifications, and when you say esp recommends, does that mean for any esp guitar, cause i have a esp ltd kh 202, and i'm confused

  • @BUFFW This is mainly having to do with physics ... even for Fender, most of these recommendations are generic. The info comes from the manufacture and/or owners manuals.

  • How would these videos work for a 7-string?

  • I haven't done a 7 string ... I would do exactly the same process if I had one to do - the springs should be similar to a drop tuning standard, I'd think ... good question - as for the numbers, I'd be keeping the same line of measuring.

  • I would go about it the same way as the low E ... however, being thicker, you may run out of saddle travel to make it perfect - it would be interesting to set up a 7 string :)

  • where do you get those guages?

  • You can get the feeler gauges at an automotive store ... the 6 inch metal ruler can be bought in a hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc). Very important to have these tools!!

  • Hey man, do you have any idea of the specs for a mockingbird ST? cant find them

  • ... just go with the typical general guidance I provide here - you can adjust to suit your needs, but these are almost universal numbers.

  • You probably shouldn't let the trem bar hit the table when measuring.

  • Hey man. Good vid. How would I go about finding the recommended pickup height? I don't think it mentioned it in the paperwork. I've got a SD Hot Rails in the neck and an Evo 2 in the bridge.

  • Is the guitar an ESP? If so, page 7 & 8 of the factory specs manual says the maximum height set from the factory is 3/32in for string 6, 5, & 4 and 1/16in for strings 3, 2, & 1. I use 64ths so that would be 6/64in & 4/64in - press string at last fret and measure the bottom of the string to the top of pickup. These are pretty typical no matter the brand of guitar, actually.

  • Cool, thanks.
