@halamazo That's actually common on some types of pickling. Garlic reacts to copper in minute traces and turns blue, or develops chlorophyll if stored in sunlight and turns green. It's safe to eat - as long as it's just discoloration and not mold.

About how full should you fill a jar with the garlic bulbs? Could I fill it up to the brim, or do they swell up some after the sit in the vinegar, so I'd have to leave some space for swelling?
Does your garlic turn blue when you put it in the vinger because mine it turned blue -greenish I don't know why !

@shollia I usualy just fill it up to the neck. I don't go all the way to the brim.

after you add the soya sauce do you keep them in the fridge at all? how long are they good once done and opened?

@pegsclips yep I keep them in the fridge. Not sure how long they will last they don't stay around very long.
