crash team racing was said to be completely inspired by mario kart. and frankly i like the one done by naughty dog. at least when it came to crash they knew how to make the games... but i can't wait to try mario kart wii!
Yeah, the original Crash Team Racing was the only karting game that could ever hold a candle to Mario Kart. For some reason track wise I've been feeling a lot of parallels between MKWii and CTR.
Nice use of that Lightning Cloud to boost your way into 1st in Mario Circuit. I take back my letdown of your defensive use of items in the Shell Cup.
Also, those Miis watching from the shortcuts in the Coconut Mall must be rather let down for seeing so few racers go by. Still, that's a very creative stage. Certainly looks like any mall I've been to.
Say AngeloBlaze, did you know that you could hold some items (like shells, bananas, and fake item boxes) behind you to act as a shield against red shells (much like the triple bananas)? If you do it like that, you'll be able to collect another item while still carrying your current item, though your opponents will then see which item you're holding.
I don't like the "dumbass" part, but Fake Item Boxes don't indeed protect your vehicle from behind. Still, you can hold them behind you to get another item in reserve.
Hmm the new courses I like the most I'd probably say are Toad's Factory, Coconut Mall and Bowser's Castle. There's a few retro ones I like as well such as both Bowser Castles, the GBA and N64 one and Delfino Square.
There aren't really any courses I particularly dislike but there are a lot of courses which I think aren't really anything special. If I had to pick I'd probably say N64 Sherbert Land, it's too long and uninteresting.
The AI actually seems a tad unfair but mainly because you've got more opponents and hence more racers getting items which could screw you over. Lightning seems to come about several times in every race, as do POW Blocks which really start getting irritating because so many times they can prevent victory. That being said, Blue Shells don't appear to be that much more common thankfully.
And no I'm not that annoyed at being inked by Blooper because I'm used to it from MKDS.
This game kinda reminds me of those Crash Bandicoot cart racing games! The mechanics looks similar, like picking up weapons and pads that boost speed etc.
Mario Kart began way before Bandicoot. I think Mario Kart was the first racing game ever to use quirky items and item blocks. All racing games of a similar type (Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing, etc.) used mechanics inspired from the Mario Kart series.

@1205iutrucoscp European name for the track is DK's Snowboard Cross, which came out before the American version, so I'm not wrong, look it up.

That was a close call on Mario Circuit. It's always difficult when you get dogged with one item after another. Good job in pulling off the win.

Yeah I know it's possible, but I prefer not to unless necessary because powersliding whilst holding an item behind you can be a pain sometimes.

AngeloBlaze:
i've watched all your Mario Kart videos and i have a few questions.
what courses do you like the most?
what courses do you dislike the most?
and is the AI fair?
oh, and how sick are you of getting inked by Blooper?

have you tried the classic controller yet?
or just the GC?
flsportfan 3 years ago
I don't actually have a classic controller so I haven't tried it yet.

Yeah, they should've used the Sherbet Land track from Double Dash. At least that one had a tendency to get hectic.

Wow, I've only played Mario Kart Super Circuit for the GBA, so this game looks crazy awesome.
