This is just an impossibly beautiful song, lyrically as well as musically. (I would never have guessed from its name that it was so poignant - 'welcome to the dead zone' suggested dissonance and rage to me.) And I don't think it sounds like U2 or Oasis. The tune in itself may be reminiscent of those bands, but the song is not just the tune - nobody but the Manics could have come up with those words, that vocal, the bittersweet depth of the whole thing.

This is one of the few songs where Sean Moore is the main songwriter as opposed to James. He could and should write more often; he's a brilliant songwriter if this is anything to go by.

It's a beautiful song but i can understand why they left it off the album. It's very generic, almost Oasis sounding.

how could i be so stupid? i thaught it was a u2 song you've gotta admit it does sound like u2! no offence have you heard their version of working class hero its a hidden track on their new album! its great (only two albums to go then i have all their cds) cant wait to see them in december! this is a great song i was probibly to tyred to hear it properly (it was 4am for crying out loud!)i was actually looking for 'you stole the sun from my heart' but got this link :D
