not sure if this is already posted didnt read everything but the metal gear that came out in the US for the nes was not created by Hideo Kojima or by the konami company it was made by some other guy and was made more like a shooter then a stealth game much like the rest made by Hideo
Hey guys, can you please check out my 'MSX: Metal Gear (1987)' walkthrough? It uses the original translation and it is in 480p. It's on my channel. Thank You. =)
Where on Earth did the idea come in to name the first song/sound in the video (It's also at 1:49) "Theme of Tara?" At least, that's what they call it in Brawl.
The last tune is awesome. Are there any remakes of that one in the newer games? I pretty much recognise all the others, except that one - and it's the coolest one from this game! :X
Oooo, thank you! I love the original Metal Gear music far beyond the NES version. While I grew up on the NES version, there's nothing in 8-bit like the main theme at 1:49. EPIC!
On the topic of this series, I listened to an episode of 1UP's Retronauts podcast that touched on every title, and it was good stuff. Recommended if you're a fan.
Ok, so the NES version was based off of the MSX version here, thats good to know. They just added on the jungle bit in the beginning of the NES version, then pasted to it some of the similar rooms & puzzles.
MG1 and MG2:SS *Never came to USA in anyway UNTIL MGS3 remake 2ed Disc* were for MSX computer commonly used in PAL and Japan areas the computer never came to USA
MG NES was based of MSX game but there alot things diffent mostly layout of areas story and bosses mainly same *aside from MG being MSX boss and NES haveing computer due to limits of NES*
Also to Note Snakes Revenge never came out in Japan in any form
Thanks for covering that, I guess some people don't know what the hell the MSX is, because I thought the video made it clear it wasn't the NES version. Oh well.
ah..very cool lowdown on that lol..cuz all i remembered was the nes Version...but i guess that like how Bionic Commando was in the Arcade then to NES. Which was the best one

Kojima's quoted as saying that he heard it while it was still unnamed and thought the main notes sounded like "ta-ra" or some shit like that.

You mean the game over tune at the very end? MGS had that one as VR Mission Failed tune.
Hertzila 2 years ago
I actually meant the one before that - from 6:53 up to 7:55 :p
schoenzool 2 years ago
I don't think it has been remade. At least I can't think of any tune sounding like that right now. Sorry.
Hertzila 2 years ago
its cool that in most of the new games they are the old tunes but redone.

I thought this one was better than the Metal Gear Solid games.

It's the music that from the VERY beginning of the game. It actually plays over during the segment at 0:18.

Track at 6:53 is really cool. I've never heard the OST to MG before. It's pretty damn good!
