  • Personally i feel like it would be better as a TV format meaning that in each episode you get a more in depth look into each character. Doing a movie would rush and possibly leave out important information on the mass effect universe. Course you never know they could do an amazing job on the movie.

  • I think its an awsome idea! and cant waite! :)

  • talk more first contact war

  • they need jack from lost to play jack from mass effect

  • was the trailer at 1:25 the movie trailer or mass effect 3 trailer?

  • @DoctorSargeMD ME3 look at the ending

  • As long as they keep Uwe Boll away I'll be satisfied.

  • I think the first movie would work well with taking the core plot of Mass Effect 1. Eden Prime, Noveria, Virmire, Feros and then the final battle with Ilos and the Battle at the citadel.

Given other movies it's not uncommon for movies to travel from one place to the next. Just look at LOTR or Star Wars for example. It can be done in a clean and satisfying way.

  • R.P.G's FTW

  • Seth Green should be Joker in the real movie it is him anyways

  • @TheClark501 he isnt being cast as Joker.

  • I am so DISAPPOINTED.....i mean the game stands alone by itself. and the fact they are gunna try to fit the entirety of the mass effect game series into 2 hrs........ im predicting a peice of shit

  • @Frittatas Like i've told others and some agree as well as a movie it won't satisfy me cause to moch story would be cut out even a 2:45 min film can't cover it. But a Mass Effect TV show? that would be epic. so much can be done and explained better. they could do 3 seasons based on the first part 3 seasons on the second and 2 seasons on the third and final chapter.

  • @greyfox129 sorry to burst your bubble but to maintain a TV show on something with a relative small fan base would be extremely difficult. Even though you think Mass Effect has a large fan base it has nowhere what it needs to maintain a running show. Why do you think all video games that have been attempted to be made into movies and NOT TV shows. It's not going to suit your fancy with a movie because of fanboyism tbh and it's not going to suit mine for the same reason, just be happy with it

  • @MrWasian i'll admit i'm a fanboy of ME but i can admit what you say is true. What i wrote before was just what i wish. but wishes never tend to happen. like Billy bob thornton said "Wish in one hand and shit in the other see which one fills up first."

  • @greyfox129 I'm a fanboy too, I mean a series is "possible" but Star Trek is having trouble getting a signed deal so I don't think a new sci fi show would even get shot.

  • @MrWasian Yeah what's up with that after enterprise i see star trek has had a really tough time getting a new show. you would think with how well the reboot movie was received they would try and cash in on it at least.

  • @greyfox129 Ya problem was when CBS (who usually aired Star Trek) had financial issues, so they're still recovering. They're afraid that if the new series failed they would lose too much money/time slots which could go to "hipster" shows. Luckily though a lot of the drama series is coming to an end so that might open enough time slots to move shows around and air the new Star Trek. Problem is the new Star Trek has a very, very controversial as everything in the Universe went to shit lol

  • @MrWasian well i'm not a bigh star trek fan but i hope things work out for the TV franchise. I Know Mass Effect could be expensive on TV but what do you think of a Fallout TV series? I think that and Deus Ex have the means to do a TV series since the scale won't kill production with so much money.

  • @greyfox129 I'm not shooting down video games as a TV series. The only problems have been they can get a concept easy for starting the series, story, etc. but the only problem after that is greedy holders of the copyright like to screw over any chances by asking too much after a contract was signed. I remember this happened to a Medal of Honor miniseries they tried to get started. Sad when people ruin what could be a great show through greed.

  • @MrWasian i'am just worry about the movie development and characters. Commander shepard voice and face is perfect for the game itself, and yet now a bloody movie? Seth green's role as Joker is good, wherelse captain anderson?

  • i have very little hope for this movie, and you should too. it's being written by Mark Protosevich, the man who wrote I Am Legend and Thor, both movies that had very weak scripts. If you thought either one of those movies was "good", then you are either 15 years old, or your standards for what constitutes a "good" film are extremely low. you can have a great director. you can have a killer cast. you can have a great story. but with a weak screenplay and stale dialogue, it will simply stink.

  • @friendlycakeasaurus wow how depressing.

Such a shame this game has an amazing story and could rock with a great script.

  • Whoever writes the script better have written for the game or at least played it, or this movie is dead to me.

  • Here is what the movie wall be like Mshep earthborn war hero L.I wall be tali

  • Seth Green should still play Joker

  • Personaly i whould like the voice actors/the once the game faces are based upon to play the roles

  • Penelope Cruz would make a good Tali...

  • Also Erica Cerra should play as Ashley.

  • Mathew Fox would make a really good Commander Shepard.

  • @aaspradlin YES AGREED

  • Could you tell that asian guy to get his hair our of your camera? Thanks.

  • I was hopeing for the first contact war BUT! if there going to do this make the story follow the squad mate's interaction dureing the entire event and not follow Shepard 100% of the time. Yea they had to do that with the game your The commander! But this is the best time to give the squadmates even more of a personality then a codex, and if they tell the story with the squad mates it will also keep the story a bit more fresh. Hell i always thought Tali and garrus would make a good couple.

  • @brenndon1 That is a good point actually. We all want to see what the companions out of mission but in terms of the game that is not exactly easy to accomplish - however the movie is the perfect medium to do it in.

  • @galenwolf

I mean by time they get to Mass effect 2 if Shepard bangs Miranda and then we see Tali and garrus flirt with each other in a related way of Hermine and Ron in Harry potter. I would praise them! I would love to see tension between the two like that!

  • Guys, It's not made yet.

don't bash it until you see it :)

  • If they pull this off, it will best the original star wars trilogy!

  • Listen to those n00bs cheering an old trailer.

The movie should be a 2-and-a-half-hour version of the Arrival DLC.

5:30 Fuck him. Games that include a story have atleast as good a story as movies. No movie has had the depth of Planescape: Torment.

  • Fuck this "base it on the books or comics" shit.

They didn't make a Harry Potter movie about his parents.

Why should games aspire to less? When you say it shouldn't be based on the game you're basically demoting it. If it goes well it'll show how far gaming has come.

  • @S1deshowRobP5

You're thinking's backwards. Movies being made based on a game doesn't glorify the game: it's already better than the movie. But a shitty movie stains the respectability of an IP.

  • @S1deshowRobP5

Because books have less of a following and there less visual.

  • @brenndon1 Books have less of a following?! LoTR has sold over 100 million copies. Harry Potter the Deadly Hallows sold 44 million books and the following for harry potter are young and old with people that will wait for DAYS to get the book. That is dedication I only ever see in the gaming industry from Warcraft and Starcraft fans - and I bet more than a few of those are HP fans.

  • Tom Cruise for Shepard!!

    (cover from tomatoes)

  • they didn't really reveal anything that we didn't already know, just patting each others backs and saying it'll be great.

  • @T0pcatFilms That's because there isn't anything about the movie to reveal. lol but I think what Casey said was very important. Finding a studio is incredibly important and is a lot of work if you know about movies and the productions of such.

This panel actually made me feel a lot better about the ME Movie now that Legendary is making it along with Casey.

  • they shouldn't base it on the games' stories, i want to watch the movie and play the game and not have them clash. Maybe base it on the 1st book

  • Thanks for the upload! but darn, down in front spike!!

  • I Just hope they don't make it Paragon Shep.

I cast my vote for a Renegon/ Paragade.

    Seriously, No boyscouts.

  • IDK, I like the sound of this movie, sounds exciting, thrilling, like it won't have a dull moment, and a trilogy would be awesome

  • Basing the film on the first movie is the BEST thing they could do. The story of ME1 was written with "introduction" already in mind, you don't need a prequel to explain the universe to the broad audience.

ME1 is the premiere story. No conflict can match the scale of the Reaper threat. The First Contact War is a joke. Nothing happened and translating it into film would be a disaster. It would feel like a giant lead up. What do you tell the audience at the end? Go play the games?

  • @chewyman28 I agree %1000, making the movie on the first contact war would be a boring disaster.

  • @chewyman28 This is EXACTLY how I feel about it, well said. Sure, all us Mass Effect fans would love to see the universe expanded because we've already tasted the prime cut, but for the general public, the first impression of Mass Effect needs to be firing on all cylinders. You make the movie based on backstory like the First Contact War and that's the ONLY Mass Effect movie that ever gets made because it is a colossal flop.

  • @chewyman28 This is all great, but one big concern a lot of fans have is whether or not this movie will establish an official, "canon" Shepard. This would be contrary to BioWare's past stance, which is that there is no official Shepard or official set of player choices. If it turns out to be a re-telling of the events of ME1, I think it would be best to treat this movie as being part of a separate continuity.

  • @DarthCannabis

Choices like whether Shepherd surrenders to the Alliance or not? Or whether Shepherd destroys Saren's Krogan production facility? Don't worry about continuity, ME doesn't've any. David Gaydar demonstrated Bioware's disregard for player decisions by defending Leliana's resurrection. EA would certainly have a canon Shepherd in a movie. He'd be a soldier acted by Vanderloo and take all the gay Paragon.

  • @Kogerii 1. Don't be ignorant. You know what I mean when I say player choices.

    2. David Gaidar works on Dragon Age and has nothing to do with Mass Effect.

    3. Vanderloo is a model, not an actor.

    4. Paragon choices have nothing to do with a person's sexual orientation. Nice job demonstrating your ignorance for everyone.

  • @DarthCannabis

What choices are you talking about, you gay pothead?

  • @Kogerii Just to make it obvious for your sake, I'm talking about Shepard's appearance, gender, and love interest, sparing or destroying the Rachni, which squadmate is sacrificed on Virmire, whether or not the Council is saved, the list goes on. Any true fan of the game would know what I'm talking about.

Oh, and your personal attacks do not impress me. For the record, I am neither a homosexual nor a drug addict. Again, nice job demonstrating your ignorance.

  • @DarthCannabis you forgot if Wrex lives or dies D:

The guy is a troll or/and is an idiot (im betting both).

  • @galenwolf Yeah, that's a pretty significant choice too. Glad to see someone else agrees with me!

  • @DarthCannabis we know they gonna go for the paragon path...its always the hero who shine at the end like it or no tthese are tyhe facts.save wrex, save rachni, convince saren the good way etc etc.u know and we know they wont choose the dark path simple.its a movie and in a movie its always about a good hero period.paragon path 100% as about shepard...again we all know its gonna be a male even thinking about a female make yourself a completely retard.love interest its gonna be williams.

  • @shinigamidu13 WE know it no need to think any other chicks.as for the actor rumors say's its gonna be matthew fox...with shave head he really looks like default shepard AGAIN wich is this bioware gonna choose for appearance

  • @shinigamidu13 You're forgetting about one thing though: a renegade is not a villain. If the writers know anything about cliches and how to avoid them, they won't make Shepard into a 100% pure white-knight. That's just uninteresting and will only appeal to the least common denominator.

  • @DarthCannabis

What is this sith I'm reading? Your name is Cannabis and you don't smoke?

Vanderloo is how he would appear in a movie. Ashley will be the love interest b/c an Asari's too weird for most of the audience (despite Avatar). Ashley will survive Virmire b/c she's the love interest. Neither the Rachni queen nor the council's survivor has had any impact on the game's story outside of a line of dialogue at the start of ME2.

To see a good ME movie search "me2 jerk".

  • @Kogerii I didn't say I never smoked. I just said I'm not a drug addict. There is a difference.

As for the rest of your post, you're missing the point of my original message. Basically I was saying that a movie about the first game runs the risk of establishing an official canon for the major player choices in Shepard's story, and that this story has already been told.

  • @chewyman28 you have officially changed my opinion, good job sir! :P

  • @chewyman28

I guess since the Resident Evil movie franchise is loosly based of the games and was such a great success, I guess thats why Lionsgate thinks they can also do. Base their movie off the games story while making up theri OWN STORY.

  • @ThePlacardman There isn't an own story to follow in the Mass effect games. Already the 1st game explained much about the universe, the impending invasion and follow-ups of our favourite ME characters. RE movies was quite a let-down , espically extinction, copying the scene from RE5 with alice and chris vs Wesker. RE5 totally wipe the floor with that sh*tty fighting scene.

  • @chewyman28 How would they make a movie to represent shepards vast opinion options?

  • @92Garrus You don't represent all of the options. You choose a set of choices that he/she could have made that best represents the movie that they want to show. Figure out what will fit best and make those choices.

  • So he praises the lore for being so big, but wants to base the film on the first game, making it into its own canon in the same way movies based on books are their own thing, separated from the book universe. What? :/

What idiot is going to ruin Shepard since it's probably not going to be Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale? :(

  • *feels excitement draining away*

I thought they would expand the universe, not just parrot the first game with boring old standard Shepard... this is depressing. I hate to say it, but this sounds like stagnation to me. Quite probably an unfortunate choice.

  • Basing the movie on the first game is a big mistake

  • I just want to say that I've read all Mass Effect material from codex in the two Mass Effect Games, the 3 Mass Effect Novels, all the comics of Mass Effect and all of that is a seriously large amount of Mythology and I absolutely Believe that a Mass Effect Movie will or Movie Trilogy will be the ultimate movie experience you will ever have and it might out do Star Wars!!!!!

  • @STARLABx

Would love to see it match up to or surpass Star Wars. It is fast becoming my favorite Sci-fi IP and I would love to see it get more recognition.

    Here's to hoping!

  • a movie sounds cool

  • Disappoint.jpg

The very IDEA of a Movie (A Liner Motion Picture) based on Mass Effect (A expansive open world Role Playing Game where you make decisions) goes against the game entirely in my eyes.

  • i realy hope they make a move With a script form the novels. why make a movie from a game thats so cinematic in the first place

  • thanks for this. I've been waiting for someone to upload something.

  • StenNo.jpg

  • @ShadowSplicer57

    Why not?
