@motegn07 Also, Jesus did not condemn repetition prayers, he condemned when the scribes prayed in the open and repeated their prayers only for them to be seen. That is then the sin of pride and that is what Jesus was saying not to do. Will God really reject repeated prayers from the heart? In timothy it mentions scripture as sharper than any two edged sword, able to rebuke, correct, teach and it also says it will make you complete( literally perfect) for every good work. Also my authority comes from the Word of God. Religions downgrade the human mind and working thought processes. Telling a child the concept of hell or that any punishments will be put onto them by a deity is cruel and unusual punishment. All religions want their stories spread and to gain followers with no tangible proof of their ridiculous claims. Translation was outlawed because of Wycliff translation which was corrupt and full of heresy. Theirs wasn't the first either. Can't be Protestants they didn't exist until the reformers. Why don't you look up the original text yourself? It's called the Codex Sinaiticus. The only one older is the the Codex Vaticus kept at the Vatican. One of the first thing you'll note is that it uses the Septuagint (maybe you should give that some thought).

I don't think God wanted us to use vain repetitions. Jesus said "pray in like manner" not "Repeat these exact words". Why pray or venerate saints or Mary? Why risk it? Aren't they are dead and asleep in Christ and waiting for the resurrection?

I don't think you are literally eating God. I think he introduced wine and bread as the new symbols so they wouldn't kill a lamb and eat that instead. Its not the "Lord's supper", it is actually called the Passover and Jesus was the Passover lamb. Thank you. Of course, credit always goes to God. I like to think of it this way...at a birthday party guests go and celebrate the birth of the one they care about. @motegn07 1st of all we dont really pray to Mary we ask her to pray for us and if because we cant ask the saints to pray for us because christ is our only mediator then that would mean we cannot pray for oneanother but the bible tells us to pray for oneanother. We share in the mediatorship of Christ for we th church is the bod of christ. 2nd of all, hebrews 9:27 does not destroy the doctrine of purgatory, for purgatory is found in the bible.

@motegn07 Purgatory is in the bible. We see it in 1 corinthians 3:15:matthew 12:32;matthew 5:26;luke 12;59;colossians 3:25;2 timothy 1:16-18;1 peter 3:18-20. All these verses are clear references to purgatory. Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant.(hebrews9:15;hebrews12:24)

That is then the sin of pride and that is what Jesus was saying not to do. Will God really reject repeated prayers from the heart? Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and receive his peace in your life. (Romans 10:9-13). Remove the shackles of religion, they are heavy and wear you down. Catechism, sacrament, goodworks being a roman catholic will not get you to heaven. Faith in Jesus ALONE will do so. And Jesus can hear you without the help of "mary" or prayers from other "saints"

In the New Testament, it clearly says, many times, to not only abide by scripture, but also to the traditions handed down, through the Apostles.

Who gave us the bible free from all heresis.Was it not the catholic church?Was not the church there before the bible.Were not peter and his disciples catholic.Is there not one God or is there others? @courag1 - What a non-historical fable. Henry VIII declared, "the translation of the Scripture corrupted by William Tyndale should be utterly expelled, rejected, and put away out of the hands of the people." Translation was outlawed because of Wycliff translation which was corrupt and full of heresy. Theirs wasn't the first either. (see: Where We Got the Bible by Henry Graham, chapter 11, "Vernacular Scriptures Before Wycliff").

@SusanMCM The translation is from the Received Text. You could look it up, it tells you what the New Testament texts were he translated from first hit in
Wikipedia.
But then truth makes you look bad.

@courag1 - Wikpedia does not use scholars and they admit that. Where do you think the bible as you know it comes from? Who decided the canon? The Catholic Church did that's who. Can't be Protestants they didn't exist until the reformers. Why don't you look up the original text yourself? It's called the Codex Sinaiticus. The only one older is the the Codex Vaticus kept at the Vatican. One of the first thing you'll note is that it uses the Septuagint (maybe you should give that some thought).

@SusanMCM If the popes are without sin or the ability to be deceived or corrupted, you might have a point. Look at what they did with that knowledge: they instituted the Inquisition. Do you believe in freedom of thought? Are you in favor of the blood bath that they instigated, believe that all those killed & tortured deserved every bit of it. If you don't, you criticize the papacy and are thereby a heretic.
But if you say that all that slaughter is just, you're as corrupt as they were.

@courag1 You are confusing papal infallibility with impeccability. The pope is only infallible when speaking ex cathedra. Catholics are only heretics if they disagree with dogma. From the sound of it you are also confused about the Inquisition. I can tell you don't know anything about the Catholic faith. Do yourself a favor stay away from moronic bigots like Jack Chick. If you have a question about Catholicism ask a knowledgeable Catholic. BTW, one topic at a time would be more productive.

@MrTIGUSS The Council of Trent that allowed for the monstrous Inquisition is still on the books, never been amended. Yet the last pope kissed the Koran. The Inquisition lasted over 700 years and 70 popes participated in it. Please dig up the dead and tell them they didn't die.
All churches are judged by doctrine in agreement with scripture. As scripture from several books will be fulfilled from many different prophecies. You're awash with false doctrines.

@courag1 Consider this that each of those death, not even mentioning the other pogroms against the Huegonots and others, was often executed by the secular authority, it is like a system run by Don Corleone. How unrighteous! After the Reformation the Jesuits have been pursuing the overthrow of gov'ts. They have frequently been told to leave, their order is hated yet these men protect the pope, probably control him, they have no limit to what they will do.

@courag1 show me the historical documents that prove this things and i will answer you back I will look up the councel of trent historical facts from a original source and not a second hand one.Have you forgotten what king henry the eight did to the catholics. Where in the bible that it say that all churches are judge by doctrine and who;s doctrine if i am awash with false doctrine then so is the bible for there is where i took my qoutes from. @MrTIGUSS Catholics were in the majority. That they slaughtered a lot of people is historical fact. What happens when people get sick of it, they say, no point of letting our wealth go to them, let's keep it. We are no better, no worse than them, we can rule just as well, our people won't starve because of them any longer. But the RCC only looks at what it lost, not on what it did to the people it took so much from. It isn't my fault you only know history that makes them look good. Naiive.

When the Bible was 1st being translated into European languages, the RCC was killing the translators. Originally, translations were based upon the Latin Vulgate but with older original text coming from Constantinople as the Eastern Orthodoxy was fleeing the city because of the attack of the Turks, they brought Greek texts with them. Cathollics on the web have no apologies for burning Tyndale and Whycliff to death. But Catholics have a bible to read in their own language because of Protestants.

I don't think God wanted us to use vain repetitions. Jesus said "pray in like manner" not "Repeat these exact words". Why pray or venerate saints or Mary? Why risk it? Aren't they are dead and asleep in Christ and waiting for the resurrection?
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, John 3:13 , 1 Corinthians 15:18, 1 Corinthians 15:50, 1 Timothy 2:5. Any answers would be great.

@MaYne81 Re: repetitious prayer. Read Revelation 4:8 where prayer was offered day and night without ceasing: "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!" Another repetitious prayer pleasing to God is Psalm 136: "For his steadfast love endures for ever." That phrase is repeated over twenty-five times. Also in Matthew 26:44 tells us Jesus himself prayed the same prayer three times when in the garden in Gethsemane. So you see, not all repetition is vain.

I would rather have lived next to Michael Jackson and had my son play at his house than go near a priest. Just look at the pictures presented of the obviously homosexual boy lover Priests. Michael Jackson was better known than the Pope and a better person; he did more good for the world yet he was "crucified" with sexual allegations while thousands of children were admittedly undressed by priests. The truth about Catholic Priests is that they are immoral and spread evil and ignorance.

The true church of Jesus Christ is a relationship, not a membership. It doesn't have a roof or an address. We are the Body of Christ, those of us who have accepted His work on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago, once and for all. Our names have been written in the Book of Life from the beginning. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

There is something most people don't understand...... The true church of Jesus Christ isn't any specific protestant denomination, or Roman catholic. It is spiritual, not physical. It doesn't have an address or a roof. You can't see it using Google Earth. The TRUE church is the "body of believers" in Jesus Christ past, present and future whose names are written in the Book of Life from the very beginning. Jesus knows the heart of every person. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4given.

Your Pope has stated that all Protestants are going to Hell. Your Popes through the years have burned at the stake 50,000,000 Men, women, and childen for not joining the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has stated that if your not Catholic Your going to hell. I will say this don"t never believe any religion will ever get you into heaven. Go by Romans 10:9-10 and put your whole life in his hands and your going to heaven asnd getting a littrle water poured on your head would be better.

I don't think you are literally eating God. I think he introduced wine and bread as the new symbols so they wouldn't kill a lamb and eat that instead. Its not the "Lord's supper", it is actually called the Passover and Jesus was the Passover lamb. But yeah, I think he was just changing the symbols, not literally turning the bread and wine into flesh and blood.

If one is truly saved, they turn their lives around and are given a new heart and when we sin it greives our hearts and we repent and turn away from sin. catholics think protestants say those words and think thats it. you are wrong. If one is really saved it will be expressed externally. at least protestants do not add to the Bible and follow false doctrine and traditions.

It is the body of believers in Jesus Christ from all over the world, past, present and future whose names He has written in the Book of Life from the beginning. Christ knows who His friends are.

Thank you. Of course, credit always goes to God. I like to think of it this way...at a birthday party guests go and celebrate the birth of the one they care about. Sure, there are party games and such. But, it doesn't mean anything without the guest of honor. This is true with Jesus. Life isn't worth living if Jesus isn't the central focus of our lives. Not devotion to a denomination.
