  • When this came out when I was a kid, I wasn't thinking about how bad the special effects were. It seemed alright to me.

  • Hhhmmm... it's not that bad.

  • one word: birdemic, check it out!

  • ANY CG from before 2000 is gonna be pretty bad COMPARED to todays crazy stuff.

    show still rocks though =>

  • Wasn't that bad... it's old, and it's made for kids, who probably have a better imagination than most of us.

  • As bad as this looks to us today, it was fairly impressive to see this on TV in the 1990s. You have to view these things in context -- if you look at the special effects of older films, you will mostly be disappointed. A friend of mine who works in CGI effects told me that as we move forward in time - the dinosaurs in the original JURASSIC PARK will begin to appear - to our eyes - as less realistic, due to advances in CGI. And today, yes, one can see flaws. But they are still FANTASTIC!

  • its good for the 90s asshole

  • lol, press 5 repeatedly.

  • As a kid, I would have thought this was awesome...and been all "OMG HOW THEY DOOO THAT??"

  • Duh they suck, but when this was on Nickelodeon, it used to scare the SHIT out of me!

  • still better than transformers 3

  • Other than the liquidation part, that was actually not bad.

  • at 0:17 i think he looked kinda like a sim

  • Actually, pretty good effects, especially considering the time.

  • That's not that bad lol

  • Pretty cool...he turned into a puddle of jizz at the end.

  • This shit makes Ace Lightning look like the early stages of Disney!!!!

  • It looks fake, but awesomely fake, plus I liked a lot of things as a kid (Which is the target demographic) that I re-watch and cringe at. I had such horrible taste xD

  • Oh yeah, totally. keep pressing 5. worst special effect ever.

  • it was a kids show like 10 years ago, of course its not going to be up to par in todays standards

  • Have any of you seen this in real life to have something to compare it to? Maybe that's exactly how it would look. Maybe it's not even special effects. Maybe it's real.....!

  • This won a prize in kazakhistan for best special effects.

  • The effects were actually pretty damn good...

It was the acting that sucked.

  • BEST SPESHUL EFFEKTS EVUR.

  • 0:18 the guy thinks uuuh what a bad special effect

  • lol omg WHERE DID HE GO

  • what the body CGI if it is then it good for the 90's to have effect like time in that time

  • yeah this was a good effect. i for one really appreciate the low budget shows because it proves u can have a good show without having alot of special effects. another good example of this is "Big Wolf On Campus" both shows r some of my favorites

  • For the time that wasn't bad at all, and some of it was downright cool.

  • oh come on. this is actually really good considering the time it was made and the budget.

  • meh better than twifag

  • @itinkgirlzhot12

Took me a moment to realize you were talking about twilight. (Really, I'm sure you be more creative than "Twifag") I'm no fan of twilight either, but there is no denying that twilight's special effects are way better than this. However, if you mean it in the sense of "AT LEAST THE SUN DOESN'T MAKE THEM SPARKLE AND SHOUJO-BUBBLE." then I have to agree.

  • The CGI was awesome for the time period... the acting was the real tragedy here...

  • That shit was intense! This was a kid's show people!! Imagine seeing that when you're 6!! You'd lose it!!!

  • for the time that was some scary shit

  • that is sooo tudgeman!

  • @llovemyllife Tudgeman?? What is that aha

  • @Cutiebearism he was in lizzie mcguire. =]

  • Eh, I've seen much worse from old 90's shows but I still love 'em.

  • lol u can so see the computer animation!

  • Avatar, schm-Avatar, this puts it to shame!

  • You get what you pay for.

  • Omg I shit my self fucking he'll hahaha

  • hahahahahaha! Oh man thats terrible! lol

  • That was off the hook!

  • did he died?

  • Now, could everyone please stop with that whole "made in the 90s" thing. 90s movies like Terminator 2, Toy Story, Titanic, Fight Club, The Matrix, etc., had better CGI this garbage.

  • @RetardStudios3 retarded stidos hey? of course... get lost in it! this show kick ass

  • @RetardStudios3 who cares? everyone loved that show :)

err sorry you probably dont even remember posting your comment lol

  • The episode came out in 1999. The Matrix came out that time. Consider that...

  • @RetardStudios3 See Savatage's comment. Do you think that The Matrix, and a Nickelodeon kids show have the same budget? You ARE a retard.

  • @Hagerwife Go strangle yourself, nigger.

  • @RetardStudios3 Hahaha, wow. Good job.

  • budget

  • "The eden formula" - that is a real tragedy, this was quite normal, considering the years it was made.

  • Wasn't too bad. I've seen a LOT worse. :o)

  • I've seen worse, this would do well even in a college special effects class.

  • I used to like this show.

    Big flashback.

  • I'm not gonna lie, those effects weren't terrible

  • roflmaooo i like his head detached from his body

  • I don't know about being that bad here actually...

I doubt i could make effects that are comparable to that, so i would have to say that there quite good. Especially for 1999, which is about 10 years ago.

  • Yeah I agree with the majority of these people... this isnt THAT bad. For the 90s, the effects are actually decent.

  • the hell are you talking about? that was pretty good

  • it wasnt that bad. just that part where he turned to ashes sucks

  • Still better than Syfy.

  • damn right, everything on that channel looks like it was made by a freshman video editing class in a week.

  • Better off setting on fire an animatronic one and then blowing it up. Like that bitch in LIFEFORCE on the morg table. But she was'nt on fire.

  • whatever that looked great

  • I thought it looked pretty good for 90's effects.

  • Lol.. that was actually pretty good.

  • Please, consider the following:

It was made in the 1990's, when CGI was in its infancy

It was a television show (not as big a budget)

It was a Canadian (lower funding) television show

It was a children's (even lower funding) television show

So, for a 1990's Canadian children's television show, it's pretty damned good.

  • @Savatage I pity the fool that compares this to nowdays special efects like in heroes....

i mean it has been almost 20 years....

  • this was season 6 which aired in 1999.

  • exactly, ive seen a lot of videos ripping this shows effects, totally ignoring that is was a canadian childrens show, this show had pretty damn good special effects for the 90s.

  • Don't forget that it's really just a knock-off, which usually get even less.

  • @Savatage

i liked it when i was a kid

  • @Savatage I agree!!

  • @Savatage That's what I keep reminding myself. :D It's still fun to laugh at nowadays, considering we were very much in awe of these same effects as kids.

  • @MissIcia

    yup

pause at 0:22 looks like a messed u version of freddy kruger.. without his hat

  • @Savatage That's just depressing. :( Any time when that's "pretty damned good" is a horrible time.

  • @Savatage I agree. It was the 90s.

OP, What did you expect for AYAOTD? A FAR more advanced CGI Death?

Honestly, you can't expect something Technologically spiffy. CGI Was VERY YOUNG at the time. It was made in the late 80's to early 90's.

    It wasn't perfect. SO WHAT?

Back then, AYAOTD was the best TV show ever made.

  • @Savatage Wait.. it's Canadian? All I knew was it was on Nickelodeon.

    Another reason to love Canada.

  • You need to remember this is right when CG was getting popular. It isnt like it was made last nite.

  • weak looking atari effects

  • every effect ther is a bad effect

  • Better then anything SYFY could come up with :)

  • Hey man, you're PISSING on my childhood with that title!

  • They were actually pretty cool for the time it was made

  • MAN! Those graphics were like a video game.

  • Being a 90's show, those were actually pretty good.

  • this show was from the early 90's you moron, the effects that you saw were considered good back then

  • I thought that was pretty good. In a TV show all you are trying to do is not embarrass yourself while telling a story and they achieved that.

  • ...That guy watching makes me think of rick astley.

  • edit : and i don't mean the fat guy. I mean the other guy, who exposes the vampire to the sunlight.

  • in Tale of the Mide knight Ride I like how the Headless Horsman came out of the wall.

  • I don't think that was bad

  • this sucks, but its the 90's and its on nickelodeon,so what do you excpect.i would rather watch AYAOTD"s cheesy FX than watch whats on that channel these days

  • it wasn't that bad for the times it was created :P

  • habsplek14 let me tell ya that was actually good for a 90s show. you need think about the 90s when those special effects were actually considered state of the art. plus it was a kids show. i guess your right in a way though, looking back on that show now i would say the graphics are pretty cheesey, but back then i would have thought they were cool.

  • now we hav crysis to luk at or play!

  • i didnt think that was too bad!

  • Have to agree, I've seen worse from the show!

  • Tah! Did they animate that in SIMS?

  • lol this episode came out in 1999 guys

  • seriosly for that time and that budget those affects were pretty good!! i love this show it's extremely scary with out all the cheap gore effects and im not scared easily hell i went into the old abandoned hospital in my town at like 11 o.clock im not gonna lie i was with a friend damn it was scary especially because we went into the basement of the place but you know i was with my friend and it wasnt that bad we got out the same way we used to get away from the cops but that was another story

  • Agreed this is horrible. Still a good show though.

  • this show fucking rules, best show of all time and besides this bad effect this episode is awesome, i have the 91 episode dvd box set

  • looks like from an oooold computer game (the death animation) frunny^^

  • lol!

In my opinion most of twilight's special effects were worse then the ones on this show

  • i think its pretty good considering its from the 90s and nickelodeon

  • I agree with you this is from the early 90's , cut the show sum slack most of the ppl that do their own special effects at home look something like this...jus shows you how far technology came but back then these affects were pretty cool

  • very true. T2 had just come out, ok people? so lay off. lol.

  • Its bad but better than I could do

  • I've seen worse.

  • That's the 90's for ya!

  • dude, it was the 90's XD, back then those graphic effects looked tight, I can understand now they really suck due to such awesome effects we have now.

  • well considering when this episode was made and the budget it's pretty decent

  • haah ya winterpup96 that scene was hilarious, and the laughing part when he pauses is classic

  • One episode of Are you afraid of the dark called the bookish babysitter has one bad effect. It's when the witch gets sliced and it shows a green cut that's not even on the witch.

  • ill check it out

  • i added it :P

  • @habsplek14 Whats the video called with this funny green cut that the guys poke about id like to see it buddy.

  • i was just about to post that...that witch green goo slice is terrible

  • @winterpup96...that was back when the green slime was huge in tv shows. Everything cheesy Sci-fi or scary children had green slime somewhere.

Classic Television. It really makes me want to be a kid again.

  • XD !!!
