pat kane has the voice of scotland the voice of jazz the voice the rhtmmmmmmmmmmm ..hes is a god .ive grown up on hue and cry ...strength to strength is my fave .. but he reduces u to powerlessness with salvage the wreck of my soul.....greg backs him superbly brothers in arms ....the emotion of song is felt by instrument and vocal.....goodness comes and heart felt songs ..aliken to deacon blue.....pat is king of scotland!!..
sorry Pat but this version didn't work...original album version so so much better and one of my all time favorites...like everyone else here still a huge fan... proud to be Scottish... H&C are as familiar as irn bru, tattie scones and square sausage
@DaftSwank you're right,we 80's generation just can't forget the those fantastic years...pity we can't time travel,and go back...even only for a short time...sigh!!!!
still prefer this version as it got me hooked on them...brings back memories of seeing them in glasgow green during ONE BIG DAY...does anyone else remember that day???
@eekybee66 OMG !! I remember that day, was there, right down the front, my mum went mental when I nicked her mop pole to make a big banner with a sheet, Jenny & Wendy from Stirling!!! photo's of it in 3 newspapers, lol!!
One of the best live experiences I've had. Average White Band and Aswad, along with Nancy Griffith behind the People's Palace. Some gentlemen beside me (right next to the mixing desk) were smoking strange substances and I was, as a non-smoker, pleasantly surprised by the after effects. What a day.
I heard this version first, and its swaggering tempo is why I was drawn to the song and to H&C.
Years later, finding S&A (original, not the Virgin America edition), I was a bit startled by the up-tempo feel of the original. By then, I'd already the 1986 12" UK single, which draws from this version, but in extended form.
I love the rest of S&A, but this version always worked better for me than the original, faster version, which sounds hurried. First impressions and all that.
the above video was used to promote the song when it was out in 1988 but the single version i bought was faster & slicker with strings etc but always wanted to see this video again so cheers
I refuse to think this is better than the aforementioned original version, I have their Greatest Hits and they're a great group, well underrated and was good to see them on the reborn in the USA show or whatever it was. Superb songs!

the original version of this was a must on the seduced and abondoned album.This is a poor commercialised copy.

I agree with RYAN2642, see Seduced And Abandoned for the original and better version.

What a fantastic song. Didn't like it when they re-released it. Seems a totally different song
