  • Dig Elvis' Hagstrom guitar but c'mon he is a singer. Jerry Reed wrote the song and is a guitarist.

  • Jerry Reed the superior talent. just sayin'.

  • Jerry Reed does it better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yea, wow good stuff, did you know, that jerry & glenn cambell did the guiter work for elvis in the studios at rca records. yea,

  • Elvis was playing like he had a terd halfway sticking out his ass and he had to go to the restroom.

  • Maybe he wasn't an instramentalist by trade, but he did pretty good good for a dirt poor kid from Mississippi.

  • Dont under rate Elvis....he was a genius singer and a true original...by exaggerating and claiming he was something he wasnt takes away from the giant that he truly was...a beautiful, talented singer...he worked damn hard to be a great singer as well...check out his phrasing, tone, pitch and diction....you could understand every word

  • @OmarGudmunds....have another burger mate...Elvis was solid but didnt rate as a guitar player

  • @thesuperduperbloke I never said he was a great guitar player but a fair one. My commment was a reply to a guy who said he only knew three chords which is a lie..If you watch closely he does four chords in the video..

  • Elvis was an accomplished guitar player. Not on the level of Jerry Reed, but no slouch. When you have yourself to showcase you dont have to play guitar.

  • @glipzik And Elvis did have so many talents to showcase. He played the guitar, but there was so much more there.

  • If memory serves Jerry played the lead on Elvis's studio version because Elvis's guitar player couldn't keep up. Jerry tended to use his own tuning patterns so standard tuning doesn't work when it came to picking the lead .

  • Elvis actually was more of a guitarist than you think..don't believe me?? watch the entire unplugged sit down concert recorded for the comeback tv special..You´ll be surprised.. Johnny Cash even said Elvis was the greatest rhythm player he ever heard.

  • @OmarGudmunds Because it requires tremendous amount of skill to comp in blues based rock?

  • @CroissantOrange All I am saying is he knew more than only three chords.. he knew all the basic chords an riffs..Not a master guitar player but a decent one.

  • @OmarGudmunds Your right very well said!!

  • @OmarGudmunds AGREED!!!!!!! The sit-down sessions was the first time he had ever played the electric guitar in public, too. He seemed to bring all of power and talent under control when he got the guitar and just did what he does best!

  • Bravo...well done!

  • Jerry is a real musician and singer but Elvis is "only" a fantastic singer .While At 3:00 Jerry's Guitar man starts playing a fantastic solo improvisationon his guitar, Elvis stops playing the guitar (which he's not so good at ) and goes on singing.

  • @csabito30 It is no secret that Elvis only knew 3 chords. They still call him the King for a reason though.

  • @csabito30 The guitar that Elvis plays in this clip was only a prop and not plugged in and this is how it was supposed to be for this Special. Jerry Reed is a fantastic guitar player and is amazing at all of the difficult cord changes and tempos, you cannot deny that Elvis was a fabulous rhythm guitarist, which is a little different than what Jerry Reed plays. Scotty Moore, Elvis original guitarist, has always said that Elvis is underrated as a rhythm guitarist.

  • The King called him and Jerry was in the studio before counting 5 minutes.

Long live the King. The best ever.

  • Jerry is definetley better musician and composer. Guitar man is Jerry´s original song, in fact Elvis called Jerry to help him to RECORD jerry´s song. Elvis is nothing to me, is only a white commercial guy who had a good voice, and was a good interpreter. He will never be as talented as Tommy Emmanuelle, Jerry Reed or Mr Guitar.

  • Scotty said Elvis always wanted to be a guitar player, but in spite of his great vocal talent never could learn even simple licks on the guitar. Notice in the "Come Back Special" Scotty starts out with the Super 400 Gibson, but soon Elvis has to have it because it's flasher than the J200 he had. Big tallent, bigger ego.

  • Jerry Reed is amazing!

  • Elvis's tempo on this song is too fast. Jerry's version is much better.

  • @toscodav yeah if you want the original pace you have to hear the studio version. Btw they got Jerry to play the guitar on it. The same session while Jerry was there they cut a long version of Big Boss Man. Magic!

  • Hee Hee , a couple of good ol' country boys tearin' it up ! The best singer the world has ever seen + the best guitar player.....does it get better than this???...NOT!

  • He wanted Jerry to play this for him.

  • super, super, super !!!

  • BOTH KINGS IN MY BOOK!!!

  • Cool, this is great!

  • How cool is this. It jams! cool.

  • 1:50-1:55 OMG maybe the absolute zenith of rock and roll!

  • @Stourley you only just realised...

    .

  • With these live versions I think it's a toss up. Elvis sings it better and Jerry plays it better, no questions asked. As far as the studio versions go, Jerry actually played on Elvis' version so the Presley record has the same rhythmic feel as Reed's. As a result given that the vocals are supremely better from Elvis, There's no question in my mind that Elvis has the better studio version. As far as these live versions go it's like I said you either prefer the guitar playing or the singing.

  • Jerry's version is better. He had the rythm. He also wrote it.

  • Great Mixing
