  • I have not tried the Eneloops yet but I have heard good things.

I just got done watching a review of the Goal 0 (Goal Zero) backpacking solar panel with battery charger/power pack. It looks like a perfect setup with a Fenix LD10 and the Fenix headlamp I have my eye on. REI has it on sale now for $90 and members get 20% off thru the end of the month.

    Too bad I'm broke!

  • I just got my LD10 R5 last week and i am really liking it so far. It puts out a much wider beam of light than my 4+year old Surefire E1L.

Funny thing is though, my $100+ Surefire is only rated at 25 lumen and yet the center of the beam of light is still as bright or brighter than the 100 lumen Fenix?

Still loving my fenix LD10 R5 though. Buying CR123 batteries for Surefires sucks. Duracell AA 20 packs are far cheaper than 6 packs of 123's.

  • @WisconsinEric Sweet, glad your liking it! Haven't had the pleasure of using a Surefire E1L, it sounds like it has held its own over the course of 4 some years. I'm guessing the tighter beam has a lot to do with the brightness factor. I don't claim to know much about lumens or how they do the test, but I'm wondering if it may differ from company to company/standard to standard. You may want to get some rechargeable batteries from what I've read the Sanyo Eneloops are pretty good for flashlights
