Is that your cat in your review? He's so cute. The two Tardises you got they look different to each other. I played each game called spot the difference.
A Tom Baker stacked-roof TARDIS, with a re-released "Pyramids of Mars" 4th Doctor, would make a great new 4th Doctor Set!
A light blue/dark signs TARDIS, for the 3rd Doctor, could come with Jon Pertwee in a red jacket, just as he was in "The Three Doctors".
Another much-desired item, for me, would be a tweak of the Hartnell Police Box TARDIS, this time with the very dark blue colour scheme, added to the Window Frames as well, and around the door sign. As in so many 60's TV stories. :-D
Would love to see the McCoy Police Box re-released, as a variant: with stacked roof, but with Tom Baker Box colours and signs! Just because I prefer my TARDISes to have Angled and/or Stacked Rooves!
Another easy variant for CO would be, the same McCoy Box, complete with the same light blue colours, but with the darker signage (white lettering, black background), as a "The Three Doctors" - type TARDIS! Again, just because I think it looks cool!
At 6:41 how did you get rid of the sticker inside? I'm trying to do that with my 9th doctor money box, because it's really annoying and it will spoil my figure adventures. Can you reply please.
Hello mate, I love your reviews!! Most informatie and very in-depth. I myself, was pleased at the 80s TARDIS (McCoy) But wished it was a darker blue. My favourite TARDIS is the Colin Baker prop. I would also be utterly delirious if a figure of Kamelion was brought out. I think I am the noly fan that loves him. What with the release of Peri, Sil and Terry Molloy Davros, I would also love to see Turlough, Ace, the Vervoids and The Malus, plus Davison in his Black Orchid pierrot garb! I can dream...
I'd like to see a movie Doctor (Cushing) with Tardis. I'm sure there's a market for it, but perhaps they don't have a licence for that as it wasn't BBC.
The new series TARDIS windows are just way too big. Fans were saying this in 2005, but when you see these models side by side, it's clearly true. The classic TARDIS models have a much better appearance.
The reson the 2 boxes are the same sculpt is because the maker originally designed it as an accurate McCoy box, but when he sent it off to CO the modified it so that the sculpt could be used for all 3 classic boxes. Annoying, but understandable, it costs a packet to get a new sculpt made. The maker, I remember said once that he was slightly annoyed that they didn't tell him about the mod, but was cheered up when the McCoy box started to get good reviews from buyers :)
i have the same tardis 10:51 but mine has rose and the doctor looking out pof the doors when you open it aswell.I think if yu want a william hartnell box with the st.johns then get the 11th dr tardis and modify as you will find that his tardis looks more similar to will's than any other
@InTheBoxReviews Yes, this prop is based on the Peter Brackaki prop in its last years with Tom Baker. However, the toy does resemble the Newberry prop due to the squat look, however the decals are based on Brackaki.
I am a child of the 70's and a huge dr Who Tom Baker fan. Really enjoy the reviews very helpful, I own all the Baker episodes on VHS/DVD. Have only just started collecting the CO figures from Bakers era since November. I am purchasing the older releases off ebay/amazon, tho' it has worked out cheaper buying some loose, really great reproductions Can you recomend a suitable Tardis release toy that would match up with this era. also any news on 2011 baker era releases. Ta
@kopblue Hi! If you're after a Tom Baker era TARDIS specifically from his early 70's stuff (the golden age as I think of it!) then the set reviewed here is exactly what you're after. However, the McCoy TARDIS set features the Police Box used in Tom's final season when he wore the burgundy outfit. But if you want a 70's Box, then this is the one to go for! Apparently there is a 'Genesis of the Daleks' set with Tom and Davros out this year, but that's rumour for now.
@cyblox07 I don't think so, all of the classic TARDIS looked very similar with the odd exception. The new series prop doesn't follow the dimensions of an actual Police Box, its too chunky.
So, are you going to get the series 5 Flight Control Tardis? I want it, but I've been reading that the signs and interior don't light up and that's disappointing.
you know there's new classic dr who toys and new 11 dr who toys like the 8th doctor, cyberman from silver nemesis, army dalek, new dalek, amy pond, you know, all that stuff so you can do more of your reviews
did you realise that it was the same release from wave 1 before you bought the figure? CAsue if not it would have been pretty pointless to buy it.... unless you were desperate to get another TARDIS
it would have been better released with the newer vertion of tom baker being released in the 11 doctors set but then they would have to change the tardis design slightly
it would have been better released with the newer vertion of tom baker being released in the 11 doctors set but then they would have to change the tardis design slightly
@talentshowdown Its exactly the same, the only difference being the glossy sheen to the jacket. It's the same jacket from season 12 at the beginning of season 13.
@furyplum44 I personally prefer the box of the McCoy set and you get a new brown coated version of McCoy (unless you would rather get the 11 Doctors Set with the hatless head). Then of course you have the new Hartnell box being released in a couple of weeks. If you don't have the UC Hartnell singularly that could be a good buy, but if you'd rathr have the more traditional looking box I suggest McCoy.
@greenfieldclose Do you know who you are talking to? Have you seen this guy's other work? If you had, you'll see that he has more knowledge of "Doctor Who" than anyone else on Youtube. If he says something's wrong, something's wrong!
got the Sylvester McCoy and tardis as I don't need another Tom Baker figure!
However the baker flatter roof tardis is MY tardis as its the one I really started watching the show with, so will have to buy it in the end lol
Now without getting too geeky lol ...... the flatter roof one is the second tardis prop as first one used from unearthly child onward collapsed during Seeds of Doom
the flatter roof one featured from The Masque of Mandragora up to and including The Horns of Nimon.
@dametrot Despite looking like the squatter Barry Newberry prop, this toy is infact the Barchaki prop used from 'An Unerthly Child' to 'The Seeds of Doom'. The Newberry prop is much lighter with narrower windows, which are slightly green/yellow and further set back doors hence the odd squat apearance on screen.
@batmanmarch ahhhh I see, I thought it was the Newberry prop as the base is wider than the Barchaki one and the lip round the pull to open sign isn't on the mid s70s one either, but as you say in yr review thats more to do with the making of the toy.
good news anyho as I'd love a Newberry model with a 16/17th season long scarfed Baker at some point fingers crossed lol
@batmanmarch hi have you seen the new 11 doctors set I have pre-ordered it from forbidden planet and i will be doing a review on every figure in the set. but im wondering if you are going to get it and review it as your review always make more sence than any others :P
This 11 Doctors box-set sounds good, but I don't have the money right now, and it'd probably be sold out by the time I do. Ah well, I've been hoping for a McGann figure for a while, but I guess I can make-do. What'd be really nice is if they made the McGann console room, that would be one NNNIIIICCEEE set. Wouldn't sell very well, but I'd love it!
I think instead of having 'spring' type doors, the TARDISes doors should swing freely, that would reduce the base to the proper size. Also, soon coming out is: Peter Davison with his type of TARDIS, Colin Baker with Dalek (Imperial from Revelation) and Sylvester with Cyberman. XD
@penninefilms I'd love them too, but if it were to be an exclusive then it would be very pricey. I don't think its too likely at the moment, but maybe someday!
Dunno about you, but I'd love to see a set of the Peter Cushing Doctor figure with TARDIS (Which TARDIS toy you think would be most accuate so far if I was needed to make one from an existin one?) and that on would have the funky sounds from the 2 Dalek films. :D
brill review :) i see your cat is interested in your Doctor Who Figure Reviews lol :) i do agree with you by they should release a Hartnell TARDIS and it would be brill, i just hope they choose to release a TV Movie set containing a TV Movie 7th Doctor and 8th Doctor with TARDIS because i think that the TV Movie TARDIS would also be brill as a classic TARDIS :)
Apparently they were working on an "interchangeable" TARDIS model, in scale of the first prop, which can have its signs and lamps changed round to suffice for the first three Doctors. Not sure if it still in production, the rumours seem to have died out.
If they didn't, it wouldn't be hard to make. All you would need is a quick repaint of that Baker model there, essentially the same scale wise, the only real difference is, it needs a sloped roof. You could even do it in Sylv's style.
I think there Tom's hands are made differently...I like it how you say things like Oh I've dropped your umbrella...Great Review...I think for people who havn't got there figures yet it's nice to see what there like before you get them. And we have yourself doing this
Great review, Bats. I reckon we may yet see an original exclusive release of the 4th Doctor. Also, we wait for one Classic Tardis, then two come along at once!!!!
@batmanmarch At least you now have two rpoper Tardises to use. Though, I thought your current custom classic-Tardis was the New-Series flight-control-one.
@DanielNeedham2500 I don't think so, playsets don't sell well generally, so CO don't think kids/parents will want to buy an obsolete console room, when a version of one that's on TV is available.
LOL, I crack up every time when that cat comes into frame! is is the same cat you coulnd't get off your lap in your confidentila episode? eg " I can't get the fucking cat off!"
@Cromford88 They feel there is a gap in the market for companions, not many people accept fans will remember people like Dodo, Susan and Nyssa. Plus likeness rights also play a difficult role in the manufacture of the figures.
I'm thinking of getting both because I agree about having one TARDIS for 60s and 70s stories and another for the 80s.
I also agree with you about the 4th Doctor figure. Character Options are getting worse every time. They obviously can't be bothered to do any research.
@MsipmsonW The fourth Doctor decreases what would have made the set even better. Even if they just gave him one head and changed the body, it would have been better than a re-release!

I've already customised a White Window Hartnell TARDIS, so that the windows are dark blue, like so many of his stories.
Would love a really "Battered paintwork" Second Doctor Police Box, like the one that lands in "The Krotons" (see the VHS)!!
Oh, and would love some B/W Police Box props for Hartnell and Troughton, because they also look great!
And Tom Baker era could give us a "Masque of Mandragora" style box, and a "Logopolis" style dark one! I mean, why not, CO - we'd buy 'em!

TheCastellan 1 year ago
@26QProductions I read about them on the toy form but to be honest there's no point in getting them for 3 reasons.
1 The Revelation Dalek is just a re-paint of a Genesis Dalek.
2 Peter’s TARDIS is the same as Sylvester’s.
3 Why buy 1 Cyberman when you can get 2 at the same time.
Character Options just keep making more exclusive. Its just an excuse to avoid making the classic companions if you ask me.

brill review :) i see your cat is interested in your Doctor Who Figure Reviews lol :) i do agree with you by they should release a Hartnell TARDIS and it would be brill, i just hope they choose to release a TV Movie set containing a TV Movie 7th Doctor and 8th Doctor with TARDIS because i think that the TV Movie TARDIS would also be brill as a classic TARDIS :)
dalek014 1 year ago
Apparently they were working on an "interchangeable" TARDIS model, in scale of the first prop, which can have its signs and lamps changed round to suffice for the first three Doctors. Not sure if it still in production, the rumours seem to have died out.

they might (might being the main word) do an 8th doctor and tardis
maybe not though :(
darrylsm6 1 year ago
@darrylsm6
If they didn't, it wouldn't be hard to make. All you would need is a quick repaint of that Baker model there, essentially the same scale wise, the only real difference is, it needs a sloped roof. You could even do it in Sylv's style.
SuperRichi1A 1 year ago
@SuperRichi1A i know its pretty easy but its been said the 8th doctors only in the 11 doctors boxset

Marvellous review!!

Great review, Bats. I reckon we may yet see an original exclusive release of the 4th Doctor. Also, we wait for one Classic Tardis, then two come along at once!!!!
Segaman19 1 year ago
@Segaman19 I couldn't believe it when both were released for the same day! It's getting too expensive!
batmanmarch 1 year ago
@batmanmarch At least you now have two rpoper Tardises to use. Though, I thought your current custom classic-Tardis was the New-Series flight-control-one.

lol your cat likes joining in your review

Great review as always Matt, I think Tom's box is more appealing to me, but I'll make a final decision when I have both in the flesh.

Any idea they are thinking of making classic tardis enteriors?
DanielNeedham2500 1 year ago
@DanielNeedham2500 I don't think so, playsets don't sell well generally, so CO don't think kids/parents will want to buy an obsolete console room, when a version of one that's on TV is available.

LOL, I crack up every time when that cat comes into frame! is is the same cat you coulnd't get off your lap in your confidentila episode? eg " I can't get the fucking cat off!"
rifraf 1 year ago
@rifraf No, that was a friend of mines. This cat is one we just bought on Thursday.

Why don't they make the classic series companions?
Cromford88 1 year ago
@Cromford88 They feel there is a gap in the market for companions, not many people accept fans will remember people like Dodo, Susan and Nyssa. Plus likeness rights also play a difficult role in the manufacture of the figures.
batmanmarch 1 year ago
I almost have all the tardis figures I have the 9th and 10th 11th and 7th but not the 5th or any customs
loveschocolate100 1 year ago
I'm thinking of getting both because I agree about having one TARDIS for 60s and 70s stories and another for the 80s.
I also agree with you about the 4th Doctor figure. Character Options are getting worse every time. They obviously can't be bothered to do any research.
Your cat must be a huge Doctor Who fan. LOL
MsipmsonW 1 year ago
@MsipmsonW The fourth Doctor decreases what would have made the set even better. Even if they just gave him one head and changed the body, it would have been better than a re-release!

if they're going to do a 4 Doctor why not replace the extra head with jelly babies
