I can't get it to update though. When I click on "Network Connections" it says "No card detected"...ETH 0. I was advised that I must configure my Network Card to ETH 1. I do not know how to turn on my network card in this Acer machine. Mr. Britec09, can you assist me? Anyone?
Requires an internet connection there is an option for manual update but could not find any download updates that I could throw on a usb.
If on a network that has static IP addresses you will have to figure out the ip, dns, other settings so the update will actually run.
Warning, after running and removing the viruses XP/Vista may not boot and you will get the blue screen of death. The viruses/malware was removed, but, when doing so killed system files Windows needs for booting.
My connection is a Dynamic IP Address. Its pubilc wifi. MY PROBLEM: I can't get Bitdefender OR Dr. Web to Update while in the bootable environment. I tried launching the browser and that didn't connect. How do I get my Internet to be recognized by a boot cd while in the bootable environment?? What am I not doing?
@Idolpurist I just clicked on configure network and choose the default on a dynamic connection. On an internal network, again, you would have to configure the ethernet connection manually. Also, make sure you select the correct ethernet card. On an Dell Laptop, it showed me two, eth0 and eth1, I had to use eth1
Hi. WHERE do I find the choice of Ethernet cards to choose? While I'm in the bootable environment under a setting, or in Normal Mode where I should select it? I have an Acer Laptop.
@redpopripple Hey! I just booted the Cd and Clicked "Network Connections" and got "No Wireless Card Found". "ETH 0". My conclusion is that my Network Card is turned OFF! All I have to do now is figure out how to turn it on. Thank you for your excellent advice. I am now getting closer to the answer.
@Idolpurist np, if you can connect the system up with an ethernet cable. F-Prot makes a similar boot cd and you can download the updated to a thumb drive. I couldn't get it to update off of it, but, didn't put too much effort into it either.
I only have the option right now to use Wifi. Thannks for the suggestion about F-Prot, but I've downloaded 4 boot CDs already! I don't need any more. I MUST first figure out how to turn on my Realtek Network card. Once I do that, I think things will finally be OK.
Hello! 3 different cards show up, but only 1 is the Network Card installed in the PC. It is a Realtek Family PCI-e Fast Ethernet NIC. Ethernet gets plugged in with cable. I ONLY have Wifi. I found the Network Card under System Hardware in Vista. I used the Bitdefender CD to boot into the boot cd environment and looked thru Network Connections. It said, "No Wireless Network Card Found" and also "ETH0". I need to change the Card to ETH 1. Can't figure out how to do that. I'm PISSED.
cuz i have a computer that has virus(es) it restarts on its own cant install free anti virus and missing alot of functions like i cant do disfragment, no folder options, etc...
@DeadMansVids Well, in a recent case I used it to disinfect a XP machine, however, in doing so it removed but corrupted some crucial drivers that XP needed. In the long run, I used it to copy off the "My Documents" folder to a USB drive than had to re-install XP. Anti-virus programs are simply for prevention, once infected, it is best to re-install your OS, otherwise it may boot but become unstable.
great vid . this will help a lot of people
