Good job on the video, and I can see you came about to discovering this by the world of puas, as I also did, by noticing your totally irrelevant tags lol. I'm not sure if you read Robin Baker's book but some of your information is incorrect, though no drastic mistakes. For instance, he states that about 60% of the sperm are so-called killer sperm, while 40% are blocker sperm, and less than 1% are fertile sperm.
@Ignozi What begs the question is the notion that such a quality control process exists in the human body that can make the mistake of mutant cells that become cancerous in hundreds of thousands of people each year, but somehow out of the literally trillions of sperm that are produced on this planet NEVER ONCE produce a serial killing psycho sperm that's also fertile. I seriously doubt that's the case.
@salaciousBastard How can a scientist go about testing this hypothesis?
There are multiple variables at play, many of them environmental. We also know that not a single gene codes for a particular behavior, and that includes psychopathic murderers. There can be genes which would predispose a person to act aggressive under the right environmental conditions. Epigenetics is making some fascinating discoveries and one of them is the vastly underestimated role of environmental factors.
@Ignozi Perhaps he could test it by collecting random samples in large quantities, separating, and identifying different types of sperm. Then one could test the different categories for overlapping traits.
However, I don't know if the technology exists to do this.
Another approach would be to collect the sperm of serial killers and examine them for anomalies.
RIDICULOUS! This has to be upon one of the best theory that I have ever heard. "Those are killer sperm, and that's the truth." - Best line evah! XD
Oh, and the reason why school's probably don't mention this is due to the fact that adolescent minds would here "10/20% of sperm are the 'egg getters."
And take that to mean The chances of you getting her pregnant are only 10/20% GO FORTH AND PROCREATE!
@STFUMagaly lol yeah I was listening to a guest Sexual Educator talk about how strictly regulated their classes are on the podcast "Sex Is Fun". It's kinda sad and it's the kids that are suffering(?) and getting pregnant but what can you do. :-P
u were saying " Warrior sperm do NOT go for the egg, their sole purpose is to kill sperm from any other men" but how come a lots of female that cheating on their hunband or boyfriend always ended up prenant with the lovers instead of theire partners
Actually about 90% are warrior sperm, and 10% are the "egg getters" according to his 'theory'. As it turns out, I think the book was actually extrapolated information from animals and applied to humans (or something along these lines) I plan on making a video to correct myself about the way I present it, but I haven't got around to it. Cheers!
The higher chance of some other guy knocking a woman up when cheat on their husband or boyfriend is due to the fact that men tend to produce several times as many sperm when they're with a new woman. Husband produces fewer.
Anyone who's read the statistics which were shared by DNA labs which perform paternity tests will know the chance of any given child being someone else's is pretty high. These labs are reporting ~30% of tests come back saying the man isn't the father. Scary stuff.
I read Sperm Wars and found it to be quite interesting. However, Baker never cited one source in his book to support his claims. In science you must sustain any claim with physical evidence and your results from your experiements must be able to be replicated to verify the claim. Failure to provide these and the claim is instantly labelled as nonsense. This is why you are told about this in school. So in short, Baker is only presenting an idea not a fact.
"Sperm Wars" was written for laymen. There is a version of the book written for academics and it does cite evidence for its claims.
As science advances, many ideas in the book will be confirmed, others will be falsified. I do think it needs to withstand the "test of time" before we can teach it at the high school level though.
I got Baker's book and read it with great interest. The biology is a bit hard to follow at points, but it does make a lot of sense. The reproductive system is extremely complex.
What puzzled me, though, was that there are absolutely none of the usual endorsements from other scientists - none - on the back cover, and the like. Still, it makes sense given natural selection.
warrior sperm can kill another man's sperm you say, but we know that sperm dies quickly, so in nature this could happen just in some exceptional situation or in a lab test, to say, they are not designed to fight in nature, because there is usually no need for fighting, am I wrong?
Maybe it's too advanced for us US kids. There's lots of stuff we can get away with not taking and still graduate high school and college. Statistics, philosophy, psychology, communication. You make it sound like it's some kind of conspiracy that more details on sperm aren't being taught though. They also don't teach us the science behind rape and infidelity, but in high school, for some, it's hard enough just learning evolution. :\ I'm just kinda rambling here.
hahahaha WTF !

I'd bet money that serial killers come from killer sperm getting to fertilize the egg instead of the "egg getters" they're supposed to be escorting.
salaciousBastard 1 year ago
@salaciousBastard The description of the video explicitly states that "warrior sperm" DO NOT contain any genetic material.
This begs the question, how can such sperm possibly fertilize an egg, if they contain an excess amount of enzymes and no genetic material?

@taurusmoxie So how do the killer sperm kill the foreign sperm?
spoonman73 1 year ago
@spoonman73 They have a small needle on their head which they use to pierce into a foreign sperm and inject it with a chemical that kills it.

And what, pray tell, are the 'claims' that YOU accept as 'fact'?
What concrete evidence do you have that keeps your accepted view from "instantly being labeled as nonsense"?

The video is a bit pompous. ;)
