d 1st time i heard John Mayer singing No such thing" i love it so much i thought i would learn guitar just 2 play dat song, i became a musician n I think he's 1 of d greatest musicians of our time, i mostly like rock instead of pop but he can make u like pop 2, he should soon start filling stadiums on a big tour i hope
Michael was my idol, I grew up with his music and when he passed I was devastated It was at this memorial that I discovered John Mayer and wondered what I had been missing all these years. Whilst Michael will always remain a legend to me, John is my new idol. This man is the most incredible musician and song writer I have ever know. Watching this video and hearing him talk about my other idol, brings a tear to my eye.
John is intelligent. It is true...that the first record you here may stay for the rest of your life. You must be blessed to hear music like MJ first....instead of todays radio lol...
I love it when Youtube sends me recommendations on what to watch. John just makes sense. He makes that guitar hit the notes he wants to sing. It's like the thing has a voice, when he plays it, it sings. You can almost hear the words pouring out of the guitar. Maybe its just me. That's one of my favorite MJ songs and I got to hear it from John. It was epic.
@daliksheppy Agree about the Usher stuff and I see Usher being to Justin beiber what MJ was to Usher. Usher likes seeing green that's why
I came here for john, but ended up wondering why usher sings the crap he does sing when he can sing like that. I like what usher did. Obviously not as much as mayer though.
I wonder what made Michael Jackson so universal? I find it hard to believe that it was alone because he made his break through back in the 80's. That's kinda what John means I think.
I loved the fact that out of respect he chose not to sing the song and just play it where people could just appreciate the music Michael gave us. I saw a side of John that was sweet, sincere, and classy and he's made mistakes like all of us have.Love you John!!Your amazing at singing and playing the guitar and your personality seems amazing person as well.<3
watch the head flickering while watching himself, haha uncontrolled. a great guitarist, and i love his vocals. he has a way of saying things everyone thinks but cant find the words which also makes him a good lyricist. we are lucky to have him
@campb423 I was saying the same thing to myself when i was watching his head move with the guitar sounds.. he truly is one talented artist/song writer i just agree with you 100%
john mayer looked like prince a little. he had the same body expressions as prince. and mariah carey SHUT UP! you cant sing anymore and you cant hit them notes anymore
im not really a big fan of john. frankly i kinda wish that it would come out that he was into violent sex or s/m or something...cz it gets so tiring wtchng horny chicks singing every word by heart. but obviously he s highly intelligent and that man can play guitar. so...i gv credit where its do... gd job.

I think john mayer is an excellent musician, and i praise his guitar playing abilities, however i do not think his composition skills are all that good.
I am so proud to be a fan of John Mayer. Things like this just make me want to sing his praises that much more. Anyone who questions why he was at the memorial just doesn't get it.
probably the most impressive performance along with Stevie Wonder's...they just gave soo much heart and soul into it. I bet he was nervous but honoured . I love Human Nature, its a beautiful song from the heart. Does anyone else think that Mayer kinda looks like he could be Johnny Depps little brother? I didnt realise he was THAT handsome...no wonder why he plays the field so much! awesome tribute though, i can just close my eyes and listen to this all day
His performance was probably the most impressive, along with Stevie Wonder's. Human Nature is beautiful. Does anyone think that John Mayer kinda looks like he could be Johnny Depps baby brother? I didnt realise he was THAT handsome
Never heard of John Mayer except w/Jennifer A. Now I am a fan, after hearing the performance and seeing this video of thoughtful insights into music in general, and Michael Jackson's place in history.
I cannot understand why people hate this man. He's such a talented person and yet he still manages to be so respectful and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
John Mayer's MJ Memorial rendition of "Human Nature" was perfection - simply beautiful - and brought tears to all who truly loved MJ's musical genius because it exactly captured the gentleness and beauty of Michael's composition. Mayer's performance was truly one of the memorial's highest forms of respect -- in honoring "the presence of his absence." Well said, John, and beautifully done.
I'm so glad you were able to get this, I had not idea JM was going to be doing this on LK LIve. JM did such an awesome job at the memorial, I felt so proud of him.
It's funny watching JM watch himself on the monitor, he looks so uncomfortable. lol
What a great interview! The comment LK made about his "Twittering" was pretty funny...who knew Larry was even aware of Twitter! Thanks for sharing this VH&JMfan. :)
I really enjoyed John's performance during the memorial and although he didn't know Michael personally, he definitely should be honored that the family chose him.
he's so aware of his place in the public eye and where he is musically up against others who came before him... but still keeps that sense that he's just being himself...
THANK YOU for posting this! He's so aware of his place in the public eye and where he is musically up against others who came before him... but still keeps that sense that he's just being himself... and btw, not sure why I hear some people surprised that he was so great that day, all his music is that heartfelt. Just take a listen to any of his albums...
awesome job by John Mayer yesterday-I always was a fan of his music and I like him even more now because he's such a Class Act and he performed one of my favorite MJ songs of all-time! AWESOME JOB! I bet you did MJ proud!
This is the first serious interview ive seen john do, and ive seen a lot, being a huge fan of him. Very somber, mature. And the first thing i thought when he said that he was invited was "Human Nature." I wanted to scream when he started playing it. Thank you John.
Thank you for uploading this video! It's always nice to see John just a little outside of his element and vulnerable - the slight unease of being there on Larry King reminds us that while the man is "extra-human" when it comes to guitar, underneath he's still like any one of us.

why on earth he has 7 grammys? I don't think you can find a person outside of the States to know him for anything else but dating Jennifer Anniston....
either way hes got a hell of a publicist...I could find more reasons for Paris Hilton being famous than John Mayer....
