Ahmed Rashid is quite economical with truth. He forgets the Indian role in keeping Pakistan on the edge. He very conviniently forgot the 1971 war in which India invaded Pakistan actually vivisecting it. It is also quite obvious that Karzai is just a puppet, has no support in Afghanistan and therefore has to go running to US. I take Rashid's explainations with a lot of ,a lot of reservation. The creation of Bangladesh was a direct result of our own disastrous policies and actions directed at the Bangladeshi people which alienated them. Indeed, India encouraged the secession and provided a base for Mukti Bihni but it was no different than our own ventures in Kashmir and latter support for Khalistan in Punjab.
