Man, this is such a great song. Why didn't this song get more publicity. Can someone please Karaoke this song and post it. Donna Summer is still the queen. I hope she lives forever..........
I guess u cant understand the song if you, if you dnt listen to the libretto...but than again, wanna'b pimts dont know meaningful lyrics so they just judge the beat that they think dosen't goes with the words.
Just another brilliant song from the Album of the Year (CRAYONS, of course). Yeah Donna : You and your music shines above anybody else at least for you REAL FANS. Not for "DiscoHungry-guys".That was Yesterday news!!
Radio ignores a lot of good music. That's not an indication of whether music is good or not. Believe was out in a different time. I bet you that song would not get played today.
This song is truly a gem. And why dos a CD have to follow a trend and be uniform and pigeonholed? Donna wanted Crayons to be diverse, and it is. So now if some people do not like it, hey, lots of people do!

this song and album are awful, a cd doesnt have to follow a trend, but if it doesnt follow a trend, then it dam well better be good, and sadly , this is not good, its bland pop. im not surprised radio is ignoring it, i dont buy that age is the reason shes being ignored at radio, tell that one to cher, when "believe" came out...
The album has plummeted to #158 on Billboard, just 4 weeks after its release. I think the reason the album failed was that it was just too all over the place, without a central focus. Too, I think she abandoned her dance fans, for the most part. There's a few dance tunes, but most of the material, like this song, is just bland, boring and forgettable. It's disappointing really, because Donna is capable of so much better.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well she might have given you what you wanted, but the vast majority of her fans have avoided this album like the plague. It's a commercial disappointment. Doubt there will be another album of new material from her after this disaster, so enjoy it while you can!
True fans bought the cd. Those who were dance fans of Donna may have not bought it because, for them, it's about the songs being dance oriented. True fans love her voice and delivery and that's regardless of if the song is dance, pop, rock, ballad, etc.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Do you know how narrow-minded it is to suggest that "true" fans will blindly buy anything an artist will put out? That is an irrational statement. To buy into your rationale (which I don't), Donna wouldn't have much of a "true" fan base, because the CD bombed. Surely she has a much larger fan base than the lackluster sales of this CD would suggest. If she had put out a really good CD, it would have sold. This CD was uneven, at best.
Yes, true fans will buy anything an artist puts out. They may not like every song on the cd, but they would buy the cd because they love the voice and are dedicated. Crayons did not bomb. It's her highest cd debut EVER(#17). You consider my statement narrow minded because you disagree with me. That's fine. I buy whatever she puts out, so, to me, my statement makes sense and is my truth.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, it was a strong debut, but vanished in its third week from the Billboard's Top 100. The debut only moved something like 43,000 units. Commercially, that is indeed an industry bomb. So you think Donna only has less than 100,000 "true" fans?? I don't buy your argument. It doesn't compute.
Firstly, who am I to know how many fans Donna has? Secondly, people had and still have access to various cds, including Crayons, to get online without spending any money. Where would those "sales" figure in? So, my truth may be flawed, but, like religion, we believe what we believe although it may sound flawed to someone who does not believe it.
I wouldn't say people avoided this CD like the plague. That's a little far fetched don't you think? It's only music for godsake so get over it. It's called poor marketing but i think this masterpiece still has a chance.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Okay, continue to delude yourself. The CD has plummeted to #185 after only 5 short weeks on Billboard. If that's not indicative of fans avoiding it like the plague, I don't know what is. Poor marketing? Nah. She launched "Stamp" from the American Idol finale stage, with a massive TV audience. It just didn't take off. It only charted on Billboard's Club Play, no better than if she had released a single without an album.
You make a smart note... one needs to remember that this is still a new CD. The key is getting radio to embrace it so audiences can discover it. This song and the AC market is the smart way to go. You only need one "main stream" chart hit to open the doors to the rest of the material... I will say I thought the A.I. thing was a mess. She would have been better suited performing on "Dancing-w-Stars". She could have just sang without all the distractions.
Let's not forget this woman hit the scene back in 1975. That's 34 years ago so even if this is a disapointment to some & this is her last album of new material this album alone speaks volumes.
the real sad thing is that. Donna summer's music isnt the same it used to be. I bet you if she had her old beats in her music. It would be an extreme hit. All we want is some classic's brought alive. New songs with Old beats and styles. Thats what were all dieing for. Computers and stuff take the wonderful sound away.
i totally agree with you! if it sounds off it's in. the songs these few years has no character and is not catchy at all. and the lyrics of current songs are icky. for example what does James Morrison Broken Strings lyrics 'It's the last chance to feel again' supposed to mean? probably it means its the last chance for new music to live cos its so dead!
Donna Summer has been out of the spotlight for a while. She's always done versatile music on her cds. Radio isn't playing the new stuff like they would when she was hot like Mariah. I've requested her on the same station and the response was an immediate "no". And that was years before the new cd came out. The new tracks aren't boring/bland. They just aren't dance. They are great tracks nonetheless. You are boxing her in by keeping her in the past. She's grown past that. You have not.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Being the dance queen, Donna needed to come out with a CD like Madonna's "Confessions".
"Confessions" sold over 8 million worldwide. I can't imagine how wonderful a CD would be with Donna Summer working with Stuart Price. That would have made a whole lot more sense that the unfortunate path that she chose with this album and producers.
I would prefer that Donna do what she wants to do musically and hope people like it. As with anyone, some will like it. Some will not. I would prefer that Donna not be a slave to what others want her to do, but be true to the music inside of her as opposed to what we want. Donna was bored at home and decided to make Crayons. She doesn't need the money, so I'm sure if some don't like it, she understands and is fine, but will continue to do what she wants. Be Myself Again is an example of this.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
so what your implying is that all her disco stuff was uninspired? she really didnt want to make 8 albums of disco? i find that hard to believe, she can put out what she wants, but the record company will drop her for sure due to poor sales, a comeback should be memorable, grandois, and stunning, what we have here is, not memorable, not grandois, and certainly not stunning, it must hurt ones ego to put out material thats artistically relevant to the artist, only to have noone embrace it...
Donna has been called the Queen of Dance because she became famous doing dance songs. However, the world gave her that title, but that does not mean she has to remain in that box because the world says so. Would you do what the world told you to do if that was not all you were about? For fame and fortune, you may. But it is not the only option one would have.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the world gave her that title for a reason, she was good at what she did, people wanted to hear and buy what she gave us, and we listened, and we bought, i have no problem with an artist doing what they want, but what about what we want? we made donna summer. dance has evolved since the 70s, she could have done a more dance friendly album, and still not sound like shes stuck in the 70s, cher did it, madonna did it, kyle did it, and donna is a far better singer than those i mentioned...
I don't think it's should be about us, the fans. It's about the artist coming into the world and doing what they want musically. If a group of people like it then the artist has gained some fans, but it should never be about what we the fans want. Every now and then, an artist will do some stuff for the fans, but for the most part, I personally think an artis should do what they want. Donna dedicated Crayons to her fans.
My sweetheart played gave me this song yesterday. He loved the words and I know why - its cause he loves me. I love the ocean, it gives me such peace. But not as much as I love him. I send this song right back to you baby. xxxx All I need is the sand on my feet and you.
I really enjoyed this song. It's so nice to see that she is still full of variety. She isn't stuck in one genre of music. I like that! I'm buying Crayons as soon as it comes out. Thank you for posting this sweet song.
