I was the drum line leader at NCHS in 1987-1989. These guys are entertaining, and that is really what a band should be -- entertaining. We don't play music so no one will hear it. But from a musician's standpoint -- this is a very sloppy group of drummers. They look and sound bad to even a slightly trained ear. Band is not just about the crowd; it's about educating young people in the arts and providing a life skill.
I wrote the above comment before I saw the whole video.The entire band is sloppy.I have performed for many years because of the musical education I got in high school,even when I didn't enjoy the song selection.NCHS drum line,I hope you can pull it together and become super fine again.There may be a place for some of you in Grambling's band,but not at Southern or any HBCU with a good band.Many of my classmates were all-state and all district musicians, and several became band directors.
yall are so racist man mr.foy is the best band director we ever had its so sad to see tha yall dont like showstyle bands but deal with it the chorus style was voted out for the past three years the band has gained support from many black and white organizations because were not the boring chorus style group anymore we are the best at what we do and we will continue to be even without the support of you guys
We aren't racist. Stop pulling that card. It's old!! If you want to see a real band walk over the field to Turpin Stadium on a Saturday and listen. Hell I'm sure if you were over at Walmart you could still hear us. NSU is a real band. NOT NCHS!
I agree with DTNSU I played when Dusky was there wich was my Freshman year and when he left not long after that I remember when I was there there was some pride and respect for this band not just the members themselves but the community and the school respected this band and look what happened to this band after he left.
Absolutely terrible. At one time NCHS had a respectable band. But with that so-called "band director" William Himes at the middle school, who by the way should have been fired a LONG TIME AGO(but b/c his relative is on the school board he never will be) and a series of poor choices when hiring band directors after John Dusky left and this is the end result.
This band looks and sounds like shit. Go back and tell the idiot responsible that a MARCHING BAND is about unity and musicianship, not about dancing around the area looking like fools.
They haven't had a real band director in about 5 yrs and there hasn't been a real band director at their m.s. either. Who should be fired b/c he double dips and draws money for being on the police jury while he is suppose to be at school teaching.

I graduated from NCHS in '02. And I remember the band being very professional and talented musicians. I dont know what happened.
