@throbule He was correct in correcting the other person, he was well known as Jimi. As for his legal name, it's James Marshall Hendrix. Once you legally change your name, your birth name is as good as dead. But, you really don't have to call people "asshole" right? I mean, Jimi was an advocate of peace, and I'm sure you are too. Let's just love one another.
@476520 1) your talking apples and oranges here two different styles two different eras of rock music so why compare? 2) the hell does LC have to do with this song/video anyway?
@yugang08 okay just found out living colour did a cover of this. im not too familiar with their entire catalogue so forgive me for being oblivious to that fact, but my #1 comment still stands
Probably not the last. The family finally won the rights to his tapes a while back and has been releasing gems like this ever since.
Um, Jimi could indeed read music. He also showed recording engineers things they had never dreamed about. Eddie Kramer had spoken often of how quickly Jimi picked up the skills and then surpassed what he's been taught.
I used to think that the Cream version of Sunshine of Your Love was Jimi Hendrix, and when I found out I was wrong, I thought Jimi Hendrix never did a version of this song, but now I find out he really did do a version of this song!
Jimi whacha doing with that gun in ur hand? I'm going down to shoot my old lady I saw her messin with another man! lol I know its joe but jeez jimi can play any song and make it gold
@MrLeeBoard Actually, what he was playing was essentially a lefty with a weird shape, as he reversed the strings. I actually do play upside down, so I'm hot on this sort of thing!
talk about the power to make a fender strat your main bitch and do exactly as you say!! gotta love jimi just passed up his 40th an. of the dreadful death of a true guitar hero
@rowanslong There is no 'best' guitarist ever, and there never will be. Hendrix would certainly be high in the running for the title of 'greatest', in terms of the status accorded to him by listeners, but that is purely subjective, and fairly meaningless. He may 'take YOUR' mind over', and I'm a fan too, but to some people he is completely uninteresting. They are not wrong to have their preference. To each their own. :-)

I never liked "Sunshine Your Love" by Cream until I heard it played by Jimi. And when I did, I was like, yeah, that's how the song should sound!
No disrespect to Cream, but just sayin'.

jimi hendrix is by far and away the best guitarist ever, purely based on the way he takes your mind over.
