  • how quickly does it discharge the battery?

  • thankas, i bought the neodymium

  • do i need the neodymium magenets ? i need 2 '? or can i do it with other tipe of mmagnets like the black ones dont know their name ... ????

  • @eliramone12 It can be done with one magnet, but definitely need neodymium. See earlier comments and responses as to the reason why.

  • do you need a specific type of magnet? Does it work with the normal black ones?

  • @liceman2coool As I commented earlier, generally only a rare earth magnet is powerful enough to support both itself and the screw by the tiny tip of the screw. With a regular magnet it'll just fall off.

  • @daemn42

Hey! can i know the commercial name of this magnet? is it available in regular stores. Decided to do this for my project. Thanks a lot :)

  • @liceman2coool Just do a google search for "Rare earth magnets" or "Neodymium magnets"

  • why doesnt mine spin?!?!?!?! the wire only attracts the magnet

  • @murderXhappyXfairyXt Try a non-ferrous wire, like copper or aluminum.

  • Your voice reminds me of the guy in How to train your dragon :O

  • @ORLYYEARLYNOWAII - Having not seen that movie, I'm not sure if that's good or bad. ;) I notice that due to the crappy camera I used for this vid, my voice sounds a bit gravelly.

  • where can i find these small magnets?

  • Radio Shack sometimes carries them.

Lots of places online that carry rare earth magnets.

  • you can't use just ANY type of magnet right?

  • In general only the rare earth magnet will be powerful enough to make the screw stick to the battery by only its tiny tip.

  • @92CUNDO yea. its called a neodymium magnet. u can get it at radio shack:)

  • do u know how to make a simple machine using an magnet , battery and a wire..

the battery will be place at the magnet,,

there will be a wire around the magnet,,

at 1st the wire will have to rotate,,

    then after that,,

    the magnet will rotate,,,

    can u do that?

    and explain...

  • I made one of those. The screw works way better than the other kind. Copper soo hard to bend.

  • hahaha it works better with a nail!! plus thats smart!!!!!!of me!! :)!!

  • Look up the Wikipedia article on Homopolar motors. Current flows through wire/magnet/screw .

The direction of current flow from wire to center of magnet is perpendicular to the magnetic field lines, which causes a force to be generated following the right hand rule.

  • How can you generate current from this?
