It is not the crazy leaders we have to worry about, it's the millions of retards like this guy who would vote and follow them.. daah da god weill show me what to do?
You're an idiot. Margaret Thatcher thinks Palin is an idiot, as does most of the world. Even conservatives in England hate her. Shes a waste of space, and you're mentally retarded for supporting her
Really? Except for being a female conservative I see no similarities between the two. Thatcher had mastered the ideas of Friedrich Hayek when she was in her early twenties at Oxford, she was one of the best articulators of the supposed moral superiority of free market economics I have ever heard. This does not come easy to say as a Labour supporter, but she consistently wiped the floor with the opposition in debates.
In contrast, all I hear from Palin is hollow rhetoric and soundbites
I think so. Nothing I have heard gives me the impression that she is anything more than a exercise in marketing.
But I tell you what, if you can recommend an article she has written or an in-depth speech or interview that I may have missed, tell me and I promise I'l look at it in a completely unbiased way and see if it causes me to re-asses her.
Why should Lady Thatcher have any interest in meeting Palin?...One is a giant figure; the other, politically speaking, a carnival pygmy better suited to life on a second-rate reality television show.
@MissEgasMoniz Your opinion I suppose. When you can't debate a concept you decide to knock the debater. We are drowning with Obama policies. I don't call him names. I call his policies insane. That is the difference between an informed person and yourself. But stick around I will teach you if you like.
@gerkins1 You are an extremist right wing goon - you have no intelligent comments to make at all. Stick around if you like and you shall be buried by your own inane rhetoric and beliefs. Waddle along spud.
@MissEgasMoniz That is what I mean. You don't have a clue do you. You have no core. You have no ideas. You, and others like you are the reason we are in this mess. You sit around and spew hate and nonsensical thoughts that show your ignorance. Why don't you give a constructive comment in here like why you don't like Sarah Palin. Deal with that Missy.
yehhh, i mean i dunno about her. i am 18 and would have voted for her and john.
the whole " i can see russia" thing ... what was the big deal she probally can. and the physcial proximity is a big issue and makes her and alaska more important , than say NC ect ect. (however with that said that whole russia v georgia thing was blown completely out of proprotion)
dunno wher she will go 2012 ? she could have a great life if she just said to hell with it all though.
She could walk away and be fine. Actually she never said "I can see Russia 'from my house", Tina Faye did. She said, "They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land, here in Alaska."
with her the stats speak for themselves. she is charming, not an idiot, and the thing is she got slagged for not handleing herself in interviews...sorry on what occasion did she not stand her gorund or was taken down by the interviewer oponent. none.
Palin is no Thatcher. If you want great woman leader's like Thatcher look at Condoleezza Rice & Hillary Clinton, they are true followers of the great Iron Lady of Britain.
"Iron Lady is a nickname that has frequently been used to describe female heads of government around the world. The term describes a "strong willed" woman. This iron metaphor was most famously applied to Margaret Thatcher, nicknamed so in 1976 by the Soviet media for her staunch opposition to communism."
From Wiki.
Now the US did not elect her but she is still the head of Alaska's Government so she is an "Iron Lady".
By the above definition, neither Rice or Clinton are Iron Ladies.
Is that a threat? Because I just saw her on TV live, so if you have some information about her life being in jeapody, then I and the Secret Service would like to know.
Idle threats are not taken lightly in this country and I am sure if your information is correct they will be knocking on your door.
Google does give information to the authorities so you can not hide behind your IP address just to let you know.
And I don't take down posts so this evidence will remain for all to see.
Margaret Thatcher made 3 million people unemployed, destoyed our entire coal industry, created the poll tax and privatised near enough every nationalised industry in sight. The fool ruined many aspects of our country and further divded the rich and poor.
That maybe but she ripped apart the manufacturing industries without offering any alternatives for people - hence mass unemployment. The railway system(s) is a disaster now because of her selling it for tuppence to her cronies. She destroyed without creating something from the ashes.
Now that is a bummer. I have to say you need alternatives, But on the other hand are we not getting to a point that you should only work to better humanity. I know that is not that way all over the world, but Europe and the US should be to that point.
I agree about working to better humanity, Europe and US should be doing that (without war or trying to enforce democracy on other nations). I firmly believe that we are in a privileged position and that we should not abuse the powers that we have, sadly, I don't think this is the case. We go into things with secret agendas with regards as to what's best for us, not other nations.
My parents lived through that period and I am a graduate in Politics in Criminology, so don't lecture me on contemporary British politics.
Has importing oil from international sources helped or hindered the British economy? Hmm, well let's see. Now that we have no ability to create our own energy, we rely on Russia to supply with most of our oil, and in the current poltical climate, we are being threatened with fuel cost rises. The result; coal mines are now being reopened. Go figure.
Your Just practicing your Comedy routine right ? We might as well have the Cookie Monster as VP......Palin cannot Even manage her own family or protect a simple password into an E-mail account. She is more of a danger to this country then people know.If she does make it into the White House she will most likely be corupted in a short period of time by the Big Money she never had and always wanted.Maybe in 4 years she will have a better understanding of America, Until then we cant take this Risk.
Thank you and God Bless you for your support of Sarah Palin. I guess we all have a level of Stress right now that's unlike anything we have ever experienced in our lifetimes. In the End I truly Believe that God will ultimately make the right Choice by simply empowering us to vote with our hearts. America is in more trouble than in all of the past World wars combined...I wonder if even JFK or Teddy could save us at this point. Please Keep Speaking out...This is what makes America Great !
Thank you so much. I am an Alaskan, an American, and a human being on a great planet called Earth. Sarah Palin is the same. We are creations of; each and one another. If the people around us are good, we as human beings have a hard time: not being good. We are creations of a Supreme Being, no matter what we call it. The Supreme Being instilled in all of us the capacity to do well and good. We are not perfect but have the ability to fulfill the Supreme Beings reason for our existence.
My grandfather used to tell me: even God put a Serpent in Paradise. These trials are for humanity to better itself. Our existence is finite our actions are infinite. Perfection has only one choice until you realize perfection is infinite. This all fits Gods plan and no matter what happens to us individually, Gods plan is fulfilled. God gave all of us the ability to see what we need to do and how to do it.
It is up to us to realize where we all fit in Gods plan for if we dont, then we inflict tue pain upon ourselves. The worst among us take that pain and inflict it on others. The best among us take that pain and suffer silently so not to further it among others. Only the perfect are called saints. The saints seem to be the top of humanity, but it should/must be the norm. You start with yourself and the rest follow suit. That is Gods will and plan for humanity.
Just look at her handling of the Falklands crisis (including her valiant attempts at a diplomatic solution before a single shot was fired) and her role in the Cold War and indeed the peace process that followed when she declared Gorbachev a man "we can do business with". With achievements of this scale to her name, Palin may have some claim to being in Mrs. Thatcher's league - but until such a time I must fundamentally disagree with any comparison.
I believe because their fundamental views as I stated above, that given the same situation, Sarah Palin would have done the same actions.
It is a case that time will tell and I do appreciate your videos because even though I know how Sarah is and I can remember Mrs. Thatcher with all that was filtered to me, your collection of videos reaffirmed my understanding of both women as to their convictions.
I recommend anyone that looks at this post and comments; go to your channel and view what you have placed there. It is very educational about a great woman that most people would respect even if they did not agree with her every decision.
I appreciate your comments. It's a pleasure to have such a frank, yet completely polite, discussion with another through this medium. The less courteous members of YouTube should take note - it is possible to disagree, have a frank exchange of views and NOT descend into expletives. I'm pleased you found the video's I've posted of interest - there will be more to come. Do stay tuned and any comments you may have for any videos will be very welcome! Sincerely, UB.
I will do that and I hope Sarah sees and learns as much about that fine lady as she can. She had convictions and those convictions got a nation through some troubled times.
There is another important issue, too. Palin has shown herself to be desperatley wanting in her knowledge and understanding of international politics during this campaign. Margaret Thatcher, by comparison, was a formidable statesman - she was respected around the world...
I agree she is not an international politician mostly because many of us do not want to leave what we call God's Country. We have many saying up here which one is. God created the world, then He created Alaska.
I firmly believe that Sarah Palin will be able to handle every task that comes her way. She will make mistakes as others all do, but I know you could have the same respect for her as you do for Mrs. Thatcher.
I would be the first to come down hard on her, as I have in here.
The reason I was challenging the comparison is because, above all, it seems rather premature. I wouldn't wish to take away Palin's achievements (although I think they have been profoundly exaggerated by both herself and the Republican leadership), but to compare her to the greatest post-war Prime Minister my country has ever known is midly offensive at such an early stage in Palin's political career.
It may be premature to the people of the US, but she has shown her leadership to Alaskan which is where I am coming from. Her determination to move ahead with the pipeline, in which she had to take on BP, Conoco, Exxon Mobile and beat them at their own game was a feat that previous administrations were trying to do since the 50s. adn(.)com/money/story/367244(.)html
BP management are no pushovers. She in the first years of her administrations what no one had done before.
Let's see if we can come to some agreement on the similarities. Both are woman, housewives, and mothers; love their country, religious more than most; both heads of state; both hold Russia accountable; dont like conspicuous consumption, excess credit, would like to see more savings n the system with an efficient, thrifty government and want a better world through individual improvement.
Margaret ousted Ed, Sarah ousted Frank. Margaret had her punks, Sarah has her rappers. Margaret got money back from the European Union for Brits; Sarah got money back from the oil companies for Alaskans.
I can attest to my beliefs as they pertain to Sarah, can you attest to those above as they pertain to Margaret?
The more generic simmilarities (i.e. both women, housewives e.t.c) I wouldn't really consider relevant - mere window dressing. However, you are correct in that they do share some common political instincts. I'm not sure if you're a fiscal conservative, but if you are I'm sure we can both agree that the commitment both of these politicians make to smaller, more efficient government and sound money is to be applauded.
Most Alaskans belive that government should support the judicial system, defense and create a stable currency. George Bush though Republican is a very liberal politician compared to who Sarah Palin is.
Alaska is unique in the US in which to pay for the state government, the US government gave all the mineral rights and other resources as oil and gas to the Alaska.
Alaska's Governor Jay Hammond set up the Permnanent Fund in which the citizen share equally in the states resources.
Or she can just lobby for her state like all other governors do... we don't have to risk her becoming president if McCain dies just so you can get a fucking pipeline
The pipeline will happen no matter what, or you will have a lot of older people freezing in their homes. When enough of you all suffer, it will be built.
She would be fine as PRESIDENT because she has what most people do not have and that is COMMON SENSE.
Well, good luck to her. I'm bloody sick of seeing polls in Europe saying how we all support Obama. Personally, I've got great doubts about him. And Biden? Well, any bloke who thinks it's a great idea to use a speech by Neil Kinnock isn't fit to reproduce let alone be VP. McCain for President!
Actually I like Biden on the Democrats side the best and also Rommney on the Republican side. But when McCain choose an Alaskan: I had to support him because I know she is a good person which changed my opinion about him even though he is a Mo Udall cutout who locked up Alaska in the 1980's which has contributed to this mess.
First her life has been about administrating, not legislation. She as a mayor and governor can request legislation, but it is the legislators that write the laws for her to administer. She has never requested and legislation that controls anothers life, but many think she should have. Judicially it has been decideded at the supreme court that people have control of their bodies when there is a natural growth in it, but if they put a drug in it, they don't.
TOTAL f'ing moron. Proud of Palin because she can see Russia from her house, wants to perpetuate our addiction to oil (just like drug dealers for the oil cartels), promotes aerial shooting of wolves, doesn't know what the Bush doctrine is, ANTI woman, will set women's and other civil rights back 40 years. Proud of McCain?Who is running a campaign to WIN AT ALL COSTS. I used to respect McPain, but choosing FEMALE DAN QUAYLE is NOT in the USA's best interest. She was chosen to win, not to run.
And what is your plan? If you are addicted to oil, then you are addicted to it as you are to food. I would kill a wolf with no problem especially like they are up here threatening pets and children. I know some people out there do not like children, but they are my one concern on this planet. When I take care of children, I take care of everything.
You don't know what the Bush Doctrine is and that is okay, but it certainly is not what you just stated.
If your main concern is indeed children, then I cannot at all fathom why you would Palin anywhere near a position which would allow her to legislate over peoples' lives. Consider her views on abortion, education and the like - her views are ignorant and dangerous and could seriously damage society if she got her claws into the education system. Banning books? Please, surely we know that banning books is a step away from burning from them & as we know, where they burn they books, people follow.
Oh god another bible thumper preaching his bullshit. If Palin is so fucking great why didn't she run for presidency? She's a politician all right and she's crooked just like them. I think this man belongs to a cult. What do they call it up there where incest and rape are "THE HIGHEST RATES IN THE COUNTRY?" With a population of 650K people that's a lot of inbreeding. Now we know why Trig has down syndrome.
Well mate, it's time for me to get a little sleep, now that we are past the inevitable youtube sarcasm and shrift, I am actually enjoying the discussion, I look forward to your thoughts, and will indeed be happy to provide my own in return. At the end of the day we all have to live in this nation, and regardless of differences should agree that it is still for the people, by the people. G'night
wealth, leaving just enough for a person to rebuild, as soon as the person rebuilt the wealth, along came the church and took him to the cleaners all over again. Religious doctrine at its conception was about control, today in many places it still is, and in other places it is more about faith. The founding fathers in my opinion understood the difference and that's why the separation of church and state became so important a part of the founding of America. There has been backslide methinks.
It is well documented that there are many books that never made it to the canon, including the story of jesus' childhood, by all accounts he was no shrinking violet as a child, but the books chosen at the time were considered the right ones for the purpose, and the purpose was control of a population by the few powerful, thats what religeon was formed to do. Here is an example, back in my homeland in England during the time of the inquisition, the church would tax the wealthy of much of their
I keep a bible, I have no faith though, but it serves to remind me that mankind does what it thinks is best at the time. In 316AD when Constantine declared that Rome would become a Christian nation, he had the scribes/priests/vatican call it what you will, gather the most popular told stories of the day concerning Christendom and make them one book, thus was born the canon, no disrespect to anyone, but thats how it happened, the story of jesus throwing his brother off a roof never made the cut.
I also believe firmly that church and state should be separate, I have no issue with a candidate saying "I am a person of faith, and in my faith I find comfort" but that's as far as it should go, religion should not enter the arena of politics, Government is a man made social construct and should be there to oversee the nuts and bolts of society. Copernicus stated that the planets revolved around the sun, the church took 500 years to apologize to him, he was no heretic, he was right.
You will have no argument here. Alaskans like no government at all other than judicial and military. But that is the ideal. They want separation of church and state, but if that is so, why do churches not have to pay taxes. To me that is priviledged. My personal belief is: no one, nothing; can have more rights than an individual. As a group of individuals we can set up a government, but the government can not give any individuals or collection of individuals special treatment of any sort.
And I do have some strong stands on some issues, if my wife was raped and the law said she had to keep the child regardless, I would fly her to England and get it sorted, No Government has the right to make that choice for a woman, it's a deeply personal thing, and whether they keep a child or not under those circumstances, I think all women are entitled to the dignity and privacy of what I am sure is not an easy decision, or thing to think about.
I understand that and so does SARAH PALIN. She got others up here mad because she would not have a special session to address the necessity of getting parental consent by kids under 16. Her views are her ideals, but she is like many of us and live in the real world.
May you never have to make a choice that you describe.
Thanks for the clarification, I do live in the midwest, but I am actually English, I moved here in 2002, I think I put 2001 in a previous post by mistake, I started visiting America regularly in 2001, I met my wife in a chat room of all places and well, I have been happily married for 6 years. I am eligible for citizenship right now, but sadly red tape means I wouldnt get to vote this time round, I will however be naturalized next year, so all ready for next time.
At least once, but get back to me in 31 years. There are still all mine and though it may be time for a cleaning (Love Cabernet Sauvignon) I guess it hasn't been a priority. Making these videos was the priority.
The latest news about Palin (in today's New York Times) is how corrupt and cronyistic her reign in Alaska was. She hired her high school friends for all sorts of high-paying jobs they weren't qualified for. For instance, she hired a real estate agent to be head of the state's agricultural department. The woman's qualifications? She had a childhood liking for cows. Palin is a redneck buffoon.
Who would you hire: your enemies? Remember that she was put on the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission and only had a husband that worked on the slope. She cleaned that up. You see what is wrong and make it right, it is that simple. Up here to say you can do something: means something.
Read between the lines. What is the main determinate in agriculture: land! Who specialize in land: a real estate agent! The story did not tell the sub-story. There was a dairy; Matanuska Dairy, that was failing as it been for years. It was finally sold this year: one bid. There was another, grain elevator project in Delta. We do not have much agriculture in Alaska and most is in the Matanuska Valley where Sarah Palin is from. Actually the article portrays her well. Is the NY Times; D,R?
You are either with her or against her. We dont like to be in boats up here with a rock ahead debating on which side to go only to compromise and hit the rock. We like all people in the boat to have the same heading. If you arent on board, wait for the next boat. True decisions are never compromised, they are many mini-decisions that may appear to be a compromise, but the decisions are made. A base decision of Sarah Palin is choose who will be only your side and work with them. That simple!
You are truly deluded if you think that's ok to hire a completely unqualified crony for a high-paying government position. But we know how you feel about that, since you support the unbelievably unqualified Palin for VP. Palin is a typical corrupt politician, as well as a bad mother and a cult member.
What do you know that I don't that makes her choice unqualified? Be specific. I will give you as much space as you need in 500 word comments. Go ahead, or are you just spouting?
Alaskans are doing something : we sent down our favorite daughter. She will pull his through. She is a tough cookie. You are going to love her as much as we do.
She seems to have affected you and others, so I think she is doing exacty what she is supposed to be doing and if she thinks it is destiny or god's work I don't care. It is working. It is right. She is all over the tube on every cable news network as I type. Ladies even now want the "Palin" hairdo.
AND WHAT STATE EVER SENT YOU ALL A HOT VP LIKE HER?
Thought I answered this. McCain will win. There will be no lobbyists that get to Palin unless she hires one, but she will not have to because she will have the entire whitehouse staff to lobby on her behalf.
Same difference really. She had to stand down as PM because her party wouldn't support her in the process of electing a leader for the party. Even they wanted her gone. If you do not lead the party you cannot be the PM.
I got you. We had a governor like that, but he went to another party and won. His name was Walter Hickel and he was Nixon's Interior head and was fired when he did not support Nixon on the Vietnam war.
We Alaskans tend to say we mean though I am finding I am more arrogant in here because you feel no one is going to come knocking on your door.
Oh do you remember the Star Trek Voyager and the ship was going through a transformation in Twisted? Everyone tried to stop it.
Torres: "What are you saying: we're out of options?"
Tuvok: "Perhaps not. So far, we have been unsuccessful in all our attempts to either explain or combat this phenomenon. And, according to my calculations, the space we are currently occupying will implode in approximately 3 minutes 17 seconds."
Torres: "So we're just supposed to sit here and let this thing kill us?"
Tuvok: "I must point out that at least one attempt we made to reverse the effect, the shock pulse, only made our predicament worse. If we continue desperately improvising solutions, our own efforts may ultimately kill us. On the other hand, there is no definitive evidence to suggest that doing nothing will result in death."
The bottom line to me is to do whatever we have to, to get through this. The US is in trouble; the government is bailing out housing, banking, soon to be auto manufacturers and airlines. It may be better to do nothing, I dont know. No matter who is in power the outcome may be the same just different paths.
It does amaze me that you compare Palin to Guinevere (an infidelitous slut), but since there is no proof of any infidelity on Palin's part, she can have another bit part in the myths.. she can be the "hag" from the story of "Gawaine and the hag", only instead of becoming beautiful when kissed, she just becomes more of an insideous viper.. you can thank me later for saving your ass over the blunder of comparing Palin to an infidelitous slut.
Oh you had to mention Camelot didn't you. I am a Cornishman, well versed with the realm of Logres, "Arthur's England". Are you saying that Palin is your Camelot's Guinevere? Of course as we all know, Guinevere was an infidelitous slut that just wanted to ride Lancelot's "lance". And don't compare McCain to Arthur, Uther Pendragon would turn in his grave, in fact if I listen hard I can hear the groans coming from the Isle of Avalon as I type this.. Arthur has gas, or is pissed at your comparison.
While I am here, McCain voted "nay" to 10/05/2005 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program Amendment HR 2863. This was a bill to help needy and impoverished people with winter heat bills, I bet McCain's fave joke at parties is "What's blue and kills old ladies and children?.... Hypothermia". What does he care with his 7 to 9 houses to heat.. fuck those poor, huh... Obama voted yes to the bill. McCain says he understands people are having it hard right now... don't make me laugh.
And as a matter of public health policy, since you wish to kiss Palin's ass so much... If you kiss too much ass, you end up choking on shit... might explain the neato dental hue!! My condolences on your impending loss come Nov 4th
Smarmy, empty rhetoric, you just sit there making feel good noise with little in the way of content. I'm glad I don't fall for the fear game that republicans play, but would rather listen and inwardly digest the oratory of Obama, at least he makes sense. By the way "criminal pubes" is an anagram of "repubicanism", how apt.
Don't agree with you anagram. If there was sadly one in this race, it would be: I won't vote unless Hillary is on the ticket = I won't vote for a black guy. I was leaning towards Obama because of Biden, but with Palin on the VP side, It is a no brainer.
Well I am not a sexist or racist, I support who I believe will do the best job. Palin had no idea about the "Bush Doctrine". Palin supported the bridge to nowhere, before opposing it, but she still kept the money that was earmarked for it. Palin is against earmarks and pork barrel spending, til she got called on it, then it was the old slither and try to evade by claiming she meant hidden earmarks. Palin would force rape victims to give birth to the results of a crime committed against them.
I do not claim to have a say in what my own wife does with her body, and there is no way in hell that government should have a say either, a woman's body is a temple unto herself and it is up to each individual woman to make their life and reproductive choices for themselves, government should play no part in that, and if you think they should then you have set women's progress back farther than you can realize. As for Obama and the "lipstick" comment, he was talking about McCains economic
policy, I know that and so do you (whether you are prepared to admit that the McCain camp is lying when they say it was directed towards Palin is another matter) In fact McCain is on video at least 4 times using the "lipstick on a pig" line, go look it up.
I believe you. To me you are someone possibly from the same area of Obama and you know him as I know Sarah Palin. We do not know them personally, but we know them. Other people say crazy untrue, half-truths about our candidates which we know are false, or fit into our vision of who that person is. Half-truths are spoken about that bridge. It is reported as a bridge to help 6 families. The reality is it was replacing a ferry system to the Regional Airport which cannot run at times due to weather.
Gerkins, you are bang out out of order saying that any of my commentary is sexist or racist, if you read my posts on your other video (because posting got shut off on this one) you will see that I state quite categorically, that I am for equality for all folks regardless of any "ism's", and that includes reproductive rights and gay marriage, am happily married to a lady myself, but I don't see why gay people cant be married, it wont affect or harm me in any way.
I was worried that would not get posted right because of the 500 character. The following was for you but it didn't post as I wanted it too: I know you are not a sexist or racist. I think you are a Midwesterner with strong values. Here is the post I originally wrote in response to you and sorry about the confusion.
I believe you. To me you are someone possibly from the same area of Obama and you know him as I know Sarah Palin. We do not know them personally... (SEE REST OF ORIGNAL POST)
Your an idiot comparing Palin to Thatcher, Thatcher was a true world leader along with Reagan, even though I didn't always agree with Thatch I know she would tear Palin a new asshole both politically and intellectually. I grew up under Thatch in England, and moved Stateside in 2001, so I have witnessed both women from the proper perspective, to twist a debate quote "I knew Thatch, Thatch was a friend of mine, and you Ms Palin, are no Margeret Thatcher". Thatch's downfall.. Poll Tax, you jackass.
Palin got her Bsc after 5 stints at 4 colleges, Thatcher got her Ma (Hons) Bsc and Masters from Oxford, she then went on to take the bar specializing in tax law, I think Thatch wins that round without question, or perhaps you don't think Oxford a prestigious enough seat of learning. BTW Biden has a double major in history and political science, and gained his JD from Syracuse, and was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969, so he is also more educated than his opposite number.
OK, there is no doubt that Oxford is a time honored institution. But that does not mean that someone that does not go to that school could not be better educated. Abraham Lincoln comes to mind. He had little or not formal education and was self educated. He is one of our greatest Presidents. He rose to the occasion. He had core beliefs. He held that that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
Palin has core beliefs; one is protection of the innocent. That explains her views on abortion. You need to take that belief and put the into her core beliefs. That explains her, and that explains the beliefs of over 80% of the people that support her up. We have core beliefs. We disagree on issues, but one core belief up here is "we all deserve to prosper." To prosper we need energy. We have the energy. The rest of the US has been using foreign energy and hoarding ours. That is wrong!
Yeah- a catalyst for America becoming a laughingstock to the world. Imagine this imbecilic hockey mom in the oval office, starting wars with Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and the rest of Fox News' enemies, to prove to the base that she has balls. (which she doesn't!)
Why imagine what will not happen! Remember what FDR said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." You will find that the world will find her to be a good President for the United States.
In 1960 the US elected Kennedy is a very close race. Some say even stolen, but no more stolen than 2000. (Guess it is okay to steal an election every 40 years) It was called the time of Camelot. Richard Harris sang the song, even though it was after the death of JFK. Jackie O the first lady wanted the period of her husbands presidency to be described as Camelot, for hope and optimism. It stuck after the media played with it.
This time there is a woman: like in Camelot, like Arthur, like hope.
Are you fucking kidding me palin is thatcher have you read anything about marget and what she did for the british people. Go shoot a moose in your wopping five hours of sun light or better yet go read a book about marget thatcher
Palin used her office to seek revenge against her brother-in-law and abused her power as governor to fire those who got in the way of her seeking revenge. She is a dangerous liability to the nation. She is homophobic, and will do nothing but attack the rights of women who disagree with her. She will use her office to seek revenge against anyone who opposes her fanatic religious views. Fuck Alaska. Fuck Alaskans and fuck Sarah Palin too.
Stupid you cut off your nose in spite of your face when you diss Alaska like that. Have you ever been here? Do you have a clue what you are talking about or are you just like your name states: STUPID...
Thatcher got a degree in chemistry from Oxford. She then went on to study law. She was elected to Parliament 1959 and was on the national stage for 20 years before eventually becoming Prime Minister in 1979. During her time as a Member of Parliament, she held several Cabinet posts (including Secretary of Education).
And an Oxford degree means more than say an Alaskan degree? I am no lawyer but I have been Pro Se and won. It is what you are made of. Sarah Palin is made of good stuff, the right stuff and has done the right things in her life to make her president.
I am for higher education, but it is not for everyone and Poland would have not gone down the path they have chosen if it was not for a common laborer.
After being up here for over 30 years, I can think of no politician in Alaska that is against alternative energy except hydroelectric. Hydroelectric can be only used where there are no diadromous species like Salmon and Sturgeon. Alaska thought about building the biggest dam in the world, but after over 200 million dollars it was scrapped mostly because it could not guarantee it would not harm the fish. That was back in 1980 and most of us were against it.
On 30 January 2008, Lady Thatcher met the incumbent Tory Leader, David Cameron at an awards ceremony at London's Guildhall where she was presented with a 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.
LOL. Yeah, she achieved lots... at everyone elses' expense.
I'm done, you have no clue about the damage that woman did to British society (oh wait, there's no such thing). You're more than welcome to the likes of her & Palin. You deserve them both. Too bad the rest of the world has to put up with them and people like you. (Maybe we can fence off Alaska and use it as a dumping ground for these people to create their World Order in? :D)
Were you even around when she was, because you speak as if you don't know anything about her other than what may be your grandparents view. My grandparents never liked FDR hence I do not have a good view of him and that is the only reason. It sounds like you are in line with your parents or grandparents view, but have no clue to what she did. If you have information about Margaret Thatcher that the rest of us don't know about, please let us know. If not I rest my case.
I had the misfortune of living in the UK under her leadership and also having studied political and social history so I think that more than qualifies me to comment on her as a politician and the state of the UK as much as any other Brit. Maybe you think that millions unemployed, poll tax, regressive taxation (VAT went to a massive 17.5%), overt corruption & underfunding the NHS were good things & can anyone say Belgrano?
And before you say why comment on American matters...
What America does has the potential to change this world in both positive and negative ways. Everyone has the right to be concerned over which path politically America takes on an international level.
Citizen is right. Most Alaskans believe in Citizen Government. Though we are not stupid and with the seniority in the Congress we are forced to send back the same people. Set up term limits and most of us in Alaska will be happy. I was going off your age that you posted that is 30 years younger than I. Reagan and Thatcher as I remember were buds. If she was good enough for Reagan she is good enough for me. But you bring up a valid point which only leads me to believe:SHE IS BETTER THAN THATCHER
Ellimere, the Belgrano had to be sunk, sinking a navy's flagship sends a big fuck you to the country it sails under... besides which, would you really deprive the lads from 3 Brigade (Royal Marines) something to laugh about as they yomped over the Falklands.

You're an idiot. Margaret Thatcher thinks Palin is an idiot, as does most of the world. Even conservatives in England hate her. Shes a waste of space, and you're mentally retarded for supporting her
asathesh 6 months ago

Palin is no Thatcher. If you want great woman leader's like Thatcher look at Condoleezza Rice & Hillary Clinton, they are true followers of the great Iron Lady of Britain.
LS8492 2 years ago

Are you saying that my God is female and a Cunt and that my saviour is Jesus and dead?
I guess I don't get the reference to Sarah Palin for she is none of those, nor is John McCain. I can't speak for others.
Anyhow your wrong in your assessment of my god and saviour.
Other than that let's just let that one go. Don't know if the SS will come to your door or not. They would probably send someone.

Margaret Thatcher made 3 million people unemployed, destoyed our entire coal industry, created the poll tax and privatised near enough every nationalised industry in sight. The fool ruined many aspects of our country and further divded the rich and poor.
johnpearceonearth 3 years ago 3
And you watched that happen or did some coal worker tell you that?
I was in England in 1966 and 1968 and your country was one of the dirtiest in Euorope as I remember.
Your coal industry was on the way out because of cheap oil. Whatever happened was going to anyway.
gerkins1 3 years ago
That maybe but she ripped apart the manufacturing industries without offering any alternatives for people - hence mass unemployment. The railway system(s) is a disaster now because of her selling it for tuppence to her cronies. She destroyed without creating something from the ashes.
ellimere 3 years ago
Now that is a bummer. I have to say you need alternatives, But on the other hand are we not getting to a point that you should only work to better humanity. I know that is not that way all over the world, but Europe and the US should be to that point.
gerkins1 3 years ago

Go figure.
johnpearceonearth 3 years ago
So there are a lot of Political Criminals over there.
I would have opened your coal mines long ago. I remember how coal was used to heat homes.
Now technology has create a way to deal with clean air, plus instead of individual heating units, you can build efficent coal plants.
I don't see what you are complaining about. You produce much of your own food, you have energy reserves but you could improve by using LNG.
We have BP up here.
Don't you get most of your oil from Norway?

America is in more trouble than in all of the past World wars combined...I wonder if even JFK or Teddy could save us at this point. Please Keep Speaking out...This is what makes America Great !
BlueCollarWorkshop 3 years ago
Thank you so much. I am an Alaskan, an American, and a human being on a great planet called Earth. Sarah Palin is the same. We are creations of; each and one another. If the people around us are good, we as human beings have a hard time: not being good. We are creations of a Supreme Being, no matter what we call it. The Supreme Being instilled in all of us the capacity to do well and good. We are not perfect but have the ability to fulfill the Supreme Beings reason for our existence.
gerkins1 3 years ago
My grandfather used to tell me: even God put a Serpent in Paradise. These trials are for humanity to better itself. Our existence is finite our actions are infinite. Perfection has only one choice until you realize perfection is infinite. This all fits Gods plan and no matter what happens to us individually, Gods plan is fulfilled. God gave all of us the ability to see what we need to do and how to do it.
gerkins1 3 years ago

UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
Yes, she was good for Britain which is my point.
I believe because their fundamental views as I stated above, that given the same situation, Sarah Palin would have done the same actions.
It is a case that time will tell and I do appreciate your videos because even though I know how Sarah is and I can remember Mrs. Thatcher with all that was filtered to me, your collection of videos reaffirmed my understanding of both women as to their convictions.
gerkins1 3 years ago
I recommend anyone that looks at this post and comments; go to your channel and view what you have placed there. It is very educational about a great woman that most people would respect even if they did not agree with her every decision.
gerkins1 3 years ago
I appreciate your comments. It's a pleasure to have such a frank, yet completely polite, discussion with another through this medium. The less courteous members of YouTube should take note - it is possible to disagree, have a frank exchange of views and NOT descend into expletives. I'm pleased you found the video's I've posted of interest - there will be more to come. Do stay tuned and any comments you may have for any videos will be very welcome! Sincerely, UB.
UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
I will do that and I hope Sarah sees and learns as much about that fine lady as she can. She had convictions and those convictions got a nation through some troubled times.
gerkins1 3 years ago
There is another important issue, too. Palin has shown herself to be desperatley wanting in her knowledge and understanding of international politics during this campaign. Margaret Thatcher, by comparison, was a formidable statesman - she was respected around the world...
UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
I agree she is not an international politician mostly because many of us do not want to leave what we call God's Country. We have many saying up here which one is. God created the world, then He created Alaska.
I firmly believe that Sarah Palin will be able to handle every task that comes her way. She will make mistakes as others all do, but I know you could have the same respect for her as you do for Mrs. Thatcher.
I would be the first to come down hard on her, as I have in here.
gerkins1 3 years ago
The reason I was challenging the comparison is because, above all, it seems rather premature. I wouldn't wish to take away Palin's achievements (although I think they have been profoundly exaggerated by both herself and the Republican leadership), but to compare her to the greatest post-war Prime Minister my country has ever known is midly offensive at such an early stage in Palin's political career.
UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
It may be premature to the people of the US, but she has shown her leadership to Alaskan which is where I am coming from. Her determination to move ahead with the pipeline, in which she had to take on BP, Conoco, Exxon Mobile and beat them at their own game was a feat that previous administrations were trying to do since the 50s. adn(.)com/money/story/367244(.)html
BP management are no pushovers. She in the first years of her administrations what no one had done before.
gerkins1 3 years ago
She is no Margaret Thatcher.
UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
Let's see if we can come to some agreement on the similarities. Both are woman, housewives, and mothers; love their country, religious more than most; both heads of state; both hold Russia accountable; dont like conspicuous consumption, excess credit, would like to see more savings n the system with an efficient, thrifty government and want a better world through individual improvement.
Would you agree?
gerkins1 3 years ago
Margaret ousted Ed, Sarah ousted Frank. Margaret had her punks, Sarah has her rappers. Margaret got money back from the European Union for Brits; Sarah got money back from the oil companies for Alaskans.
I can attest to my beliefs as they pertain to Sarah, can you attest to those above as they pertain to Margaret?
Then we can go to the next step.
gerkins1 3 years ago
The more generic simmilarities (i.e. both women, housewives e.t.c) I wouldn't really consider relevant - mere window dressing. However, you are correct in that they do share some common political instincts. I'm not sure if you're a fiscal conservative, but if you are I'm sure we can both agree that the commitment both of these politicians make to smaller, more efficient government and sound money is to be applauded.
UnitedBritannia 3 years ago
Most Alaskans belive that government should support the judicial system, defense and create a stable currency. George Bush though Republican is a very liberal politician compared to who Sarah Palin is.
Alaska is unique in the US in which to pay for the state government, the US government gave all the mineral rights and other resources as oil and gas to the Alaska.
Alaska's Governor Jay Hammond set up the Permnanent Fund in which the citizen share equally in the states resources.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Or she can just lobby for her state like all other governors do... we don't have to risk her becoming president if McCain dies just so you can get a fucking pipeline
tmitchell630 3 years ago
The pipeline will happen no matter what, or you will have a lot of older people freezing in their homes. When enough of you all suffer, it will be built.
She would be fine as PRESIDENT because she has what most people do not have and that is COMMON SENSE.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Well, good luck to her. I'm bloody sick of seeing polls in Europe saying how we all support Obama. Personally, I've got great doubts about him. And Biden? Well, any bloke who thinks it's a great idea to use a speech by Neil Kinnock isn't fit to reproduce let alone be VP. McCain for President!
mts1977 3 years ago

No books have been band.

Alejandroenfuego 3 years ago
And what is your plan? If you are addicted to oil, then you are addicted to it as you are to food. I would kill a wolf with no problem especially like they are up here threatening pets and children. I know some people out there do not like children, but they are my one concern on this planet. When I take care of children, I take care of everything.
You don't know what the Bush Doctrine is and that is okay, but it certainly is not what you just stated.
Winning is Everything; no Silver.
gerkins1 3 years ago
If your main concern is indeed children, then I cannot at all fathom why you would Palin anywhere near a position which would allow her to legislate over peoples' lives. Consider her views on abortion, education and the like - her views are ignorant and dangerous and could seriously damage society if she got her claws into the education system. Banning books? Please, surely we know that banning books is a step away from burning from them & as we know, where they burn they books, people follow.

wealth, leaving just enough for a person to rebuild, as soon as the person rebuilt the wealth, along came the church and took him to the cleaners all over again. Religious doctrine at its conception was about control, today in many places it still is, and in other places it is more about faith. The founding fathers in my opinion understood the difference and that's why the separation of church and state became so important a part of the founding of America. Here is an example, back in my homeland in England during the time of the inquisition, the church would tax the wealthy of much of their

gerkins1 3 years ago
I keep a bible, I have no faith though, but it serves to remind me that mankind does what it thinks is best at the time. In 316AD when Constantine declared that Rome would become a Christian nation, he had the scribes/priests/vatican call it what you will, gather the most popular told stories of the day concerning Christendom and make them one book, thus was born the canon, no disrespect to anyone, but thats how it happened, the story of jesus throwing his brother off a roof never made the cut.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
No Bible, Have Computer
gerkins1 3 years ago
I also believe firmly that church and state should be separate, I have no issue with a candidate saying "I am a person of faith, and in my faith I find comfort" but that's as far as it should go, religion should not enter the arena of politics, Government is a man made social construct and should be there to oversee the nuts and bolts of society. Copernicus stated that the planets revolved around the sun, the church took 500 years to apologize to him, he was no heretic, he was right.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
You will have no argument here. Alaskans like no government at all other than judicial and military. But that is the ideal. They want separation of church and state, but if that is so, why do churches not have to pay taxes. To me that is priviledged. My personal belief is: no one, nothing; can have more rights than an individual. As a group of individuals we can set up a government, but the government can not give any individuals or collection of individuals special treatment of any sort.
gerkins1 3 years ago
And I do have some strong stands on some issues, if my wife was raped and the law said she had to keep the child regardless, I would fly her to England and get it sorted, No Government has the right to make that choice for a woman, it's a deeply personal thing, and whether they keep a child or not under those circumstances, I think all women are entitled to the dignity and privacy of what I am sure is not an easy decision, or thing to think about.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
I understand that and so does SARAH PALIN. She got others up here mad because she would not have a special session to address the necessity of getting parental consent by kids under 16. Her views are her ideals, but she is like many of us and live in the real world.
May you never have to make a choice that you describe.

Palin is a redneck buffoon.
richmond450 3 years ago
Who would you hire: your enemies? Remember that she was put on the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission and only had a husband that worked on the slope. She cleaned that up. You see what is wrong and make it right, it is that simple. Up here to say you can do something: means something.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Read between the lines. What is the main determinate in agriculture: land! Who specialize in land: a real estate agent! The story did not tell the sub-story. There was a dairy; Matanuska Dairy, that was failing as it been for years. It was finally sold this year: one bid. There was another, grain elevator project in Delta. We do not have much agriculture in Alaska and most is in the Matanuska Valley where Sarah Palin is from. Actually the article portrays her well. Is the NY Times; D,R?
gerkins1 3 years ago

Palin is a typical corrupt politician, as well as a bad mother and a cult member.
richmond450 3 years ago 2
What do you know that I don't that makes her choice unqualified? Be specific. I will give you as much space as you need in 500 word comments. Go ahead, or are you just spouting?

Alaskans are doing something : we sent down our favorite daughter. She will pull his through. She is a tough cookie. You are going to love her as much as we do.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Take her back, please! If she's the best you can do, see if Russia will take you back.
richmond450 3 years ago
She seems to have affected you and others, so I think she is doing exacty what she is supposed to be doing and if she thinks it is destiny or god's work I don't care. It is working. It is right. She is all over the tube on every cable news network as I type. Ladies even now want the "Palin" hairdo.
AND WHAT STATE EVER SENT YOU ALL A HOT VP LIKE HER?
gerkins1 3 years ago
America is run by LOBBYISTS... And the MONEY BAGS they represent.... And these Lobbyists need DUMMIES at the helm of Government.
Da USA isn't "government of THE PEOPLE"... It's "government of BIG MONEY"... And BIG MONEY trumps DA PEOPLE every time.
What odds... McCain is gone win? What odds? Unless of course, U can do sumpin.....
NAH! U r too DUMB, too.
Garabsare 3 years ago
Thought I answered this. McCain will win. There will be no lobbyists that get to Palin unless she hires one, but she will not have to because she will have the entire whitehouse staff to lobby on her behalf.

Margaret Thatcher had a glorious run and then ended up resigning because her own party turned against her.
leeaxtellreim 3 years ago
I don't think she resigned as Prime Minister, but as head of the Conservative Party.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Same difference really. She had to stand down as PM because her party wouldn't support her in the process of electing a leader for the party. Even they wanted her gone. If you do not lead the party you cannot be the PM.
ellimere 3 years ago

And, according to my calculations, the space we are currently occupying will implode in approximately 3 minutes 17 seconds."
gerkins1 3 years ago
Torres: "You said there was another option."
Tuvok: "We do nothing."
Torres: "Excuse me?"
Chakotay: "Are you suggesting we just let it crush us?"
Tuvok: "Precisely."
Torres: "I can't believe I'm hearing this from you."
Chakotay: "I agree. It sounds completely illogical."
Tuvok: "On the contrary. When every logical course of action is exhausted, the only option that remains is inaction."
gerkins1 3 years ago
Torres: "So we're just supposed to sit here and let this thing kill us?"
Tuvok: "I must point out that at least one attempt we made to reverse the effect, the shock pulse, only made our predicament worse. If we continue desperately improvising solutions, our own efforts may ultimately kill us. On the other hand, there is no definitive evidence to suggest that doing nothing will result in death."
gerkins1 3 years ago
The bottom line to me is to do whatever we have to, to get through this. The US is in trouble; the government is bailing out housing, banking, soon to be auto manufacturers and airlines. It may be better to do nothing, I dont know. No matter who is in power the outcome may be the same just different paths.
gerkins1 3 years ago
It does amaze me that you compare Palin to Guinevere (an infidelitous slut), but since there is no proof of any infidelity on Palin's part, she can have another bit part in the myths.. she can be the "hag" from the story of "Gawaine and the hag", only instead of becoming beautiful when kissed, she just becomes more of an insideous viper.. you can thank me later for saving your ass over the blunder of comparing Palin to an infidelitous slut.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
See above and I thank you for your comments. Isn't this a Welsh tale and not a Celtic or is it both.
Actually I was referring to what Jackie Kennedy said with regards to camelot and the "hope" comment.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Oh you had to mention Camelot didn't you. I am a Cornishman, well versed with the realm of Logres, "Arthur's England". Are you saying that Palin is your Camelot's Guinevere? Of course as we all know, Guinevere was an infidelitous slut that just wanted to ride Lancelot's "lance". And don't compare McCain to Arthur, Uther Pendragon would turn in his grave, in fact if I listen hard I can hear the groans coming from the Isle of Avalon as I type this.. Arthur has gas, or is pissed at your comparison.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
Actually I am saying Palin is Arthur. Arthur already knows who I am: Merlin.
gerkins1 3 years ago
The Merlin myth is probably French in origin but was later incorporated into the Arthur mythology...
ellimere 3 years ago
I think much of him is myth, but it makes a good story.

MidianSpawned 3 years ago
Don't know about that and it doesn't interest me. I am voting for McCain to give Palin the experience to be President.
Now if you all would have open up ANWR you would not have had those problems.
gerkins1 3 years ago
And as a matter of public health policy, since you wish to kiss Palin's ass so much... If you kiss too much ass, you end up choking on shit... might explain the neato dental hue!! My condolences on your impending loss come Nov 4th
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
NO that is wine. I think I will be drinking Champagne on Nov 10th or sooner after she wins. Don't you like women or is it just this woman?
gerkins1 3 years ago
Smarmy, empty rhetoric, you just sit there making feel good noise with little in the way of content. I'm glad I don't fall for the fear game that republicans play, but would rather listen and inwardly digest the oratory of Obama, at least he makes sense. By the way "criminal pubes" is an anagram of "repubicanism", how apt.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
Don't agree with you anagram. If there was sadly one in this race, it would be: I won't vote unless Hillary is on the ticket = I won't vote for a black guy. I was leaning towards Obama because of Biden, but with Palin on the VP side, It is a no brainer.
OBAMA 2020
gerkins1 3 years ago
Well I am not a sexist or racist, I support who I believe will do the best job. Palin had no idea about the "Bush Doctrine". Palin supported the bridge to nowhere, before opposing it, but she still kept the money that was earmarked for it. Palin is against earmarks and pork barrel spending, til she got called on it, then it was the old slither and try to evade by claiming she meant hidden earmarks. Palin would force rape victims to give birth to the results of a crime committed against them.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
I do not claim to have a say in what my own wife does with her body, and there is no way in hell that government should have a say either, a woman's body is a temple unto herself and it is up to each individual woman to make their life and reproductive choices for themselves, government should play no part in that, and if you think they should then you have set women's progress back farther than you can realize. As for Obama and the "lipstick" comment, he was talking about McCains economic
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
policy, I know that and so do you (whether you are prepared to admit that the McCain camp is lying when they say it was directed towards Palin is another matter) In fact McCain is on video at least 4 times using the "lipstick on a pig" line, go look it up.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
I believe you. To me you are someone possibly from the same area of Obama and you know him as I know Sarah Palin. We do not know them personally, but we know them. Other people say crazy untrue, half-truths about our candidates which we know are false, or fit into our vision of who that person is. Half-truths are spoken about that bridge. It is reported as a bridge to help 6 families. The reality is it was replacing a ferry system to the Regional Airport which cannot run at times due to weather.
gerkins1 3 years ago
This was to the sexist racist comment of MidianSpawned.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Gerkins, you are bang out out of order saying that any of my commentary is sexist or racist, if you read my posts on your other video (because posting got shut off on this one) you will see that I state quite categorically, that I am for equality for all folks regardless of any "ism's", and that includes reproductive rights and gay marriage, am happily married to a lady myself, but I don't see why gay people cant be married, it wont affect or harm me in any way.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
I was worried that would not get posted right because of the 500 character. The following was for you but it didn't post as I wanted it too: I know you are not a sexist or racist. I think you are a Midwesterner with strong values. Here is the post I originally wrote in response to you and sorry about the confusion.
I believe you. To me you are someone possibly from the same area of Obama and you know him as I know Sarah Palin. We do not know them personally... (SEE REST OF ORIGNAL POST)
gerkins1 3 years ago
Your an idiot comparing Palin to Thatcher, Thatcher was a true world leader along with Reagan, even though I didn't always agree with Thatch I know she would tear Palin a new asshole both politically and intellectually. I grew up under Thatch in England, and moved Stateside in 2001, so I have witnessed both women from the proper perspective, to twist a debate quote "I knew Thatch, Thatch was a friend of mine, and you Ms Palin, are no Margeret Thatcher". Thatch's downfall.. Poll Tax, you jackass.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
OK then we can agree that Palin is better because she will not support a Poll Tax. And your statement proves you don't know Sarah Palin.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Palin got her Bsc after 5 stints at 4 colleges, Thatcher got her Ma (Hons) Bsc and Masters from Oxford, she then went on to take the bar specializing in tax law, I think Thatch wins that round without question, or perhaps you don't think Oxford a prestigious enough seat of learning. BTW Biden has a double major in history and political science, and gained his JD from Syracuse, and was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969, so he is also more educated than his opposite number.
MidianSpawned 3 years ago
OK, there is no doubt that Oxford is a time honored institution. But that does not mean that someone that does not go to that school could not be better educated. Abraham Lincoln comes to mind. He had little or not formal education and was self educated. He is one of our greatest Presidents. He rose to the occasion. He had core beliefs. He held that that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Palin has core beliefs; one is protection of the innocent. That explains her views on abortion. You need to take that belief and put the into her core beliefs. That explains her, and that explains the beliefs of over 80% of the people that support her up. We have core beliefs. We disagree on issues, but one core belief up here is "we all deserve to prosper." To prosper we need energy. We have the energy. The rest of the US has been using foreign energy and hoarding ours. That is wrong!
gerkins1 3 years ago
Yeah, Palin is the Thatcher of 2008- brain-addled and unqualified.
richmond450 3 years ago
Palin is the catalyst like Thatcher was!
gerkins1 3 years ago
Yeah- a catalyst for America becoming a laughingstock to the world. Imagine this imbecilic hockey mom in the oval office, starting wars with Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and the rest of Fox News' enemies, to prove to the base that she has balls. (which she doesn't!)
richmond450 3 years ago
Why imagine what will not happen! Remember what FDR said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." You will find that the world will find her to be a good President for the United States.
gerkins1 3 years ago
hahahahhahahahahahhahaha
A; learn to shave
&
B; your wrong and so is the whore running as vice president
ipathbomb92 3 years ago
Now why should I learn to shave. Will I live longer?
You are going to love this President. It will be like Camelot, only this time a woman will have pulled the sword out of the stone.
gerkins1 3 years ago
not sure I am understanding your analogy there buddy
ipathbomb92 3 years ago
In 1960 the US elected Kennedy is a very close race. Some say even stolen, but no more stolen than 2000. (Guess it is okay to steal an election every 40 years) It was called the time of Camelot. Richard Harris sang the song, even though it was after the death of JFK. Jackie O the first lady wanted the period of her husbands presidency to be described as Camelot, for hope and optimism. It stuck after the media played with it.
This time there is a woman: like in Camelot, like Arthur, like hope.

StupidVds 3 years ago
Stupid you cut off your nose in spite of your face when you diss Alaska like that. Have you ever been here? Do you have a clue what you are talking about or are you just like your name states: STUPID...
gerkins1 3 years ago
Thatcher got a degree in chemistry from Oxford. She then went on to study law. She was elected to Parliament 1959 and was on the national stage for 20 years before eventually becoming Prime Minister in 1979. During her time as a Member of Parliament, she held several Cabinet posts (including Secretary of Education).
Palin pales into insignificance by comparison.
kdnj123 3 years ago

That was back in 1980 and most of us were against it.
gerkins1 3 years ago
Do you fully understand what you're talking about? Palin has voted AGAINST alternative energy, even though she says she is pro alternative energy.

ellimere 3 years ago
Were you even around when she was, because you speak as if you don't know anything about her other than what may be your grandparents view. My grandparents never liked FDR hence I do not have a good view of him and that is the only reason. It sounds like you are in line with your parents or grandparents view, but have no clue to what she did. If you have information about Margaret Thatcher that the rest of us don't know about, please let us know. If not I rest my case.
gerkins1 3 years ago
I had the misfortune of living in the UK under her leadership and also having studied political and social history so I think that more than qualifies me to comment on her as a politician and the state of the UK as much as any other Brit. Maybe you think that millions unemployed, poll tax, regressive taxation (VAT went to a massive 17.5%), overt corruption & underfunding the NHS were good things & can anyone say Belgrano?
ellimere 3 years ago
And before you say why comment on American matters...
What America does has the potential to change this world in both positive and negative ways. Everyone has the right to be concerned over which path politically America takes on an international level.
And dual nationality my fellow citizen. ;-)
ellimere 3 years ago
Citizen is right. Most Alaskans believe in Citizen Government. Though we are not stupid and with the seniority in the Congress we are forced to send back the same people. Set up term limits and most of us in Alaska will be happy. I was going off your age that you posted that is 30 years younger than I. Reagan and Thatcher as I remember were buds. If she was good enough for Reagan she is good enough for me. But you bring up a valid point which only leads me to believe:SHE IS BETTER THAN THATCHER
gerkins1 3 years ago
Ellimere, the Belgrano had to be sunk, sinking a navy's flagship sends a big fuck you to the country it sails under... besides which, would you really deprive the lads from 3 Brigade (Royal Marines) something to laugh about as they yomped over the Falklands.
