if anything its either longer or shorter (sometimes tracks have to be edited to fit on the cd...as in the first 2 films)...but to me sounds the same....
Philip Glass? Excellent. This film? Dreadful...for those who enjoyed koyaanisqatsi, I recommend Ron Fricke's Baraka or Chronos. The second and third films of the qatsi trilogy are terrible. Apart from their soundtrack. The third film is god-awful.
@ceiderduck I disagree. These films are not meant to go against each other in any way. It all depends on preference, I suppose. Personally, I adore the second and third films of the Qatsi Trilogy just as much as the first. I love how Godfrey Reggio and his crew present all of this to people. These films are some of the most important films of all-time IMHO. Cheers.
One of the finest scored pieces in the history of film. The connection between the images, motion and sounds in incredible. Philip Glass is truly a genius.
@theavantridiculous MOGDrummer is correct. The film seems to contain a separate take of the song. Since the film is considered a collaboration between Glass and Reggio, both edit to each other. The soundtrack was meant to stand on its own for the music release, but changes were made to some tracks to fit the film. Notice the difference between the film version (5:13 on your clip) and 3:30 on the soundtrack.
This is a great film, especially this segment. The soundtrack is very good as well. I also really like the tracks "Massman" and "Point Blank" and those scenes that go along with it.

Glass' music always makes me think. I love a good thinking piece, and P of N does that. So does 1000 Airplanes On the Roof.

It took him about 20 years to create the entire QATSI Trilogy.

Sort of like the 9 years it took Beethoven to complete his 5TH Symphony.

I love the tornado section, with all those drums, very powerful indeed

Una bella pero a la vez terrible metáfora de la humanidad, ojalá le dieran más difusión a ésta gran película que más bien es una obra de arte.

5:14-6:36 is not included in the piece on the cd. and P of N is only 6+ min. long.

Why is the Primacy of Number different on the soundtrack?
MOGDrummer 4 years ago
Is it different? How? I've got the soundtrack and I like to pick up on those things.
