Actually, chinese food for the majority of it, is way more unhealthy than American food. Chinese deep fry everything, or cook with unhealthy cheap oils and eat a lot of rice. WHITE RICE IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU, BTW. Traditional homestyle American food is far more healthy. Steak, chicken, baked potatoes or even mashed potatoes, steamed/boiled veggies. It's the fast food and pretty much all of the restaraunts that cause the American obesity. That combined with being lazy.
Autos make a huge difference. I had a car and both me and my husband started to gain weight. Stopped driving and now walk to subway and we are losing that weight. My husband dropped 2 trouser sizes!

thats just shows your ignorance of the over weight population, 50% have a ligitimate medical condition, Met B look it up. its genetic,not from overeating or lack of exercise, but most undereat / dont eat enough at the right times.

No it's before the rate doubled. It's over 7% in china. (surveyed in 2004, and it's higher now) And overweight rates and obesity rates are not the same thing. An overweight rate in China is over 25 percent. It is, however, still low compared to European Nations. (Spain-13%, France-9.4%, Germany-12.9%, Sweden-9.7%. FYI the USA-30%)
In terms of obesity rates, Japan are South Korea perform the best. (3.2% respectively)

Mcds has WAY too much salt,sugar and fat, have to shareone meal deal w a whole family and still end up eating more that required for a few days

I think the problem is capitalism. The Chinese were fine until they welcomed capitalism. The money goes up, the physical labor goes down, people don't need to move, and they get fatter the more they indulge.

@asingus true. Actually Asia is catching in the obesity rate, simple due to the fast food chains popping up everywhere. Among the poor in Asia, it is considered exclusive to dine at Mikkey's for instance... luckily there are more Asian food choices than there are fast food...

fat people can be skinny if they wanted to. i dont care what kind of medical nonsense you come up with. yeah, having fat parents would probably make u eat more. but that doesnt mean you cant lose weight. fat people are discusting. im talking about like morbidly obese people, pathetic wastes of space. i got some chunky friends that are just fine. and saying its not their fault its almost as retarted as calling bulimia a disese. and if you try hard, you can lose weight too.
