This is not in real colors.

And that bulbasaur sprite doesn't exist in red and it's borrowed from GSC so the colours won't look right.

Uhh I don't really know difference between Shift and Set.

Shift is the "TRAINER is about to use POKEMON. Would you like to change Pokemon?" thing that is on by default. Set turns that off, like in versus battles.

(I don't know whether if, in Shift mode, the AI is also allowed to change when your Pokemon faints. Even if they were, they're probably too stupid to...)

What kind of emulator are you using?

In options --> gameboy you can change color settings to Automatical.

Then reload the rom and colors work.

I know it is, but so far i've noticed that the room hasn't changed and Prof. Tim still appears as a Lass trainer in his lab...

You can for example catch over 70 new pokemon.

And there is a huge side quest in the end but still this is pokemon brown and so was the version which was released in 2004.
