duckpin bowling was invented because somebody thought candlepin bowling was too hard. Then the americans came along and decided that bigger is better and made the modern 10-pin bowling we see today =)
Also, this is a pro tour event. Rich Downing, who I bowled against many times, passed a way several years ago.
There never has been a 300 game in ducks...Jeff Pyles, one of the greatest ever, shot 235-185-235 for an incredible 655 3 game set, no one's ever come close to that...Jeff averaged about 164 or so for a league season once.
I bowled ducks for many years and was in fact on the "pro tour" and my average was 140, close to the low end of that group. In league play 140 would be one of the best usually. Someone averaging 150 in various houses is pro caliber. I'd say the average man ho bowls regularly averages 120 or so, A good rule of thumb is to take 1/3rd away from a tenpin score to see about what the equivalent would be in ducks. For example a 210 in tenpins is about like a 140 in ducks...a 150 is about like 100.
Could someone please tell me what average score is considered professional in duckpin bowling? No offense, but I just want to know what you should expect.

This was the now defunct Longmeadow bowl in Hagerstown MD. The Building is still there under new ownership about to be a 22 lane Ten pin alley :(

I averaged 134 in a season once. I had a 202 game and a 191 game that year. Only year I ever bowled.

i believe a good average is around 140 - really any game over 100 isn't bad, though it's been awhile since i was able to do it myself :)
