  • I taught med food was suppose to be healthy

  • @decoysupreme most of it is healthy, this is a dessert that you can have once in a while :)

  • hey do you think if the syrup is too thin then the baklava can be soggy? thanks:)

  • @Fabulousfoodwithme that may be possible if the syrup has to much water

  • Hi dede med great recipe I was just wondering how to store these baklava. I made them once and the next day they were so soggy it wasn't at all good! Also is it okay to store in a closed container

    thnx:)

  • @Fabulousfoodwithme Yes you should store it in a closed container, they shouldn't be soggy, if there is excess syrup in the pan then you need to pour it out or but the baklava in a different container. Hope this helps :)

  • hey maybe it sounds funny, but i wanna know whats the flavor of phyllo? not sweet rite, so i can put savoury fillings inside like corned beef/cheese/smoked beef? thank you ^^

  • @brounn correct, the phyllo is NOT sweet. You can definitely use it for savor items or meat. Check out my sambousek recipe, it is phyllo stuffed with meat :)

  • here is a good tip

when you get the last philo sheep leave it unbyttered untill you do the cutting that way it won't stik to the knife and your hands

  • @prooguy very interesting!

  • have you ever buttered the fello dough to slow and it dried out

  • @Agentjamaica Yes, that is why you should keep the dough covered with plastic wrap or a lightly damp towel until you are ready to use it. You need to butter it fast so that it does not dry out :)

  • I love Baklava... but it is really fattening with all that butter... i really have to portion control lol

  • yes it is fattening, but I have a friend that tries to make it healthier by using vegetable oil or grapeseed oil instead of butter, give it a try :)

  • is fillo pastry the same as the ready made pastry used for spring rolls & samosas?

  • phyllo dough is much thinner than dough for spring rolls adn samosas.

  • Just a few suggestions, Im a pastry chef at a Lebanese bakery and what I do when I make Baklava is instead of butter, try using vegetable ghee (similar to shortening) and layer everything dry, without adding the butter/ghee and add it afterwards. This makes cutting it easier. If you use my method, I would avoid a serated knife since a dry phylo dough would get shredded.

    Goodluck!

  • Thank you . And you are absolutely right. But my viewers do not all have access to ghee. That is why I use the butter in the video. But now my viewers will see your comment. Again Thanks.

  • I'm glad you liked it :) The fingers are the easiest to make!

  • can you replace the butter with crisco for lower fat?

  • I would say using less saturated fat butter. you really should use butter for making baklava. If you must you can replace it with margarine, I hope this helps you to enjoy this dessert :)

  • Hey thanks for the recipie, i was wondering if you could add the ingredients into Discription of video, it would be awesome, thankyou loved it!

  • you can get the written out recipes on my website for free :)

  • Traditionally(Turkish) it's made in a round metal tray, Pistacios instead of walnuts and it has to be diamond cut, but well done. Baklava capital of the world is in Gaziantep in Turkey. Watch a vid.

  • thank you for the additional information :)

  • wow. they look so good. and its not so hard to follow. thanks for video. x

  • Really amazing I can wait to make it!!!!

    Delicioso uhmmmm!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you.

  • ohhhhhhhhhh i would die for my mom's baklava....it drips sweetness.

    thanks for the vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • finally you came up with the baklava lols. thank you so much. but i can't find the simple syrup recipe :s can you please tell me where is it??

  • it will be posted today :)

  • Interesting how you stack the cut phylo layers on top of each other as you butter them one by one. This effectively keeps them from drying out as you go. My only concern is that you have so much melted butter left over by the time you start cutting the squares. Is there any way to approximate how much you'll really need before you begin?

  • You can always melt less and then melt some more butter if you need it :)

  • I love this sweet and u made it luk so simple i always thought it would b hard to make, well i certainly will be trying this weekend - thanks for sharing lol xx
