Rind did not test anything. He surveyed people who gave self reported responses. Someone saying "I haven't been affected by sexual abuse done to me", and PROVING it are two different things.
I can find nothing pertaining to the sample size that Rind used as 37,000 or higher. In fact the sample sizes denoted in his document report small, case by case studies of about 30 men and women.
The college sample is not representative of the general population for the reasons I listed. On top of that, self reporting surveys don't account for much of anything. Third, the APA has clearly stated that children are not capable of consent.
My last point is that you are misusing what his study found. His study found that people who attended college fully who suffered sexual abuse as a child, when asked(key word here, not studied.), said they did not experience any current mental trauma. So essentially what he proved is that many years after sexual abuse(8-15 years), people are capable with getting on with their lives. IE it does not support that CSA is "helpful" or even "neutral".
Uh, I don't have to choose between parents going to jail for giving their children and sexual abuse because they are two entirely different things.
Parents can choose to give their children ice cream, but they should probably instruct them to their negative affects. No parent in their right mind is going to advise their child to a sexual relationship with an adult. Whether you like it or not, ADULTS are the ones who must consent on their children's behalf, and that makes sense.
Second, Rind Et Al's study has not "stood up to criticisms" as you put it. For one, Rind is accused of pedophile bias and of being a pedophile because his studies focus almost exclusively on pedophelia.
Rind is also accused of an inaccurate study based on that his test sample were people who went to go onto and STAY in college past their first semester. Lastly, just because some people may go on to not be scarred by CSA does not mean it's not harmful at the time it occurs.
The very people who published Rind et al's study, the APA, stated "children cannot consent to sexual activity with adults". So if you were in support of the APA you would share this opinion.
No, it is not scientific fact. It is one STUDY, big difference. Rind found that people who go on to complete college do not exhibit mental scarring 15 years after CSA occurs. "Successful people are successful despite hardships in their life" is not a supportive argument to abuse children.
So in short, supporting Rind's study is the same as saying "Well, some people still live normal lives 15 years after they get their limbs chopped off, so therefore chopping off limbs is fine." He did not prove that CSA is "positive" as you put it. Simply that it may not ruin an individual's life.

Laws and interventions are there to protect. TheRoar, I can't speak for others but for me I am not repulsed by them. Now that they're older, we are still the best of friends. Most of them are married, as am I. I am speaking from the perspective of boylove and not girls as Ashford is. That dynamic may be entirely different. It would seem that most people have an age range of attraction. They may stay with that person past that age range if love and familiarity develops. For boys, these relationships can develope into life long friendships.

Rind did not test anything. He surveyed people who gave self reported responses. Someone saying "I haven't been affected by sexual abuse done to me", and PROVING it are two different things.

I can find nothing pertaining to the sample size that Rind used as 37,000 or higher. In fact the sample sizes denoted in his document report small, case by case studies of about 30 men and women.
The college sample is not representative of the general population for the reasons I listed. On top of that, self reporting surveys don't account for much of anything. Third, the APA has clearly stated that children are not capable of consent.

My last point is that you are misusing what his study found. His study found that people who attended college fully who suffered sexual abuse as a child, when asked(key word here, not studied.), said they did not experience any current mental trauma. So essentially what he proved is that many years after sexual abuse(8-15 years), people are capable with getting on with their lives. IE it does not support that CSA is "helpful" or even "neutral".

Uh, I don't have to choose between parents going to jail for giving their children and sexual abuse because they are two entirely different things.
Parents can choose to give their children ice cream, but they should probably instruct them to their negative affects. No parent in their right mind is going to advise their child to a sexual relationship with an adult. Second, Rind Et Al's study has not "stood up to criticisms" as you put it. For one, Rind is accused of pedophile bias and of being a pedophile because his studies focus almost exclusively on pedophelia.
Rind is also accused of an inaccurate study based on that his test sample were people who went to go onto and STAY in college past their first semester. Lastly, just because some people may go on to not be scarred by CSA does not mean it's not harmful at the time it occurs.

The very people who published Rind et al's study, the APA, stated "children cannot consent to sexual activity with adults". So if you were in support of the APA you would share this opinion.
No, it is not scientific fact. It is one STUDY, big difference. Rind found that people who go on to complete college do not exhibit mental scarring 15 years after CSA occurs. "Successful people are successful despite hardships in their life" is not a supportive argument to abuse children.

Lastly, both before and after his study, many studies have found contrary findings and conclusions to his. Why is it that Rind's study is correct but all of the other ones are wrong?

You know what? Many volunteers at Childline work in medicine / healthcare and are highly qualified. They do it to gain objectivity. We dont put words in kids mouths, all we do is listen and acknowledge their point of view. Not all of them are victims they just want somebody neutral to talk to. Its not about them crying all the time, its about letting them speak freely and empowering them. It helps them solve their own problems. Were not trying to shut them up with academia.
