"Friends say that U ain't no good!!" Sing it ARETHA!! "Kiss me once again..Don't u never-never say that we're through bcuz I ain't never no never no no loved a man the way that I loved you!!"
TALK ABOUT THOSE LIFE AND LOVING RELATIONSHIPS, YOU KNOW THAT'S THE TRUTH! when love was whipping you up and you did'nt understand it. know the truth about it. SING IT ARETHA.
Was there ever a bettr song than this? It sounds as good today as it did back in the 60's. Take this song her version of "Dr. Feelgood" and I am a happy girl! Just listen to Aretha banging on the piano--Righteous!
The Andromeda40: One of my friends in college had Aretha's album. I think we wore it out playing this song. Bless you, Aretha, you got us thru some Earth Science and Biology classes with this song and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. OH YEAH!
I remember this song came out when I was in high school. My friend and I were riding in his car - 2 white guys into the usual stuff, girls, surfing, etc - and this song came on and my friend grinned and say, "We gotta get into this" and turned the volume all the way up. We drove around, the power of her voice filling us with excitement. Been an Aretha fan ever since.
It seems there are about a thousand cover versions of this song, but listening to this one it becomes really clear that none of the cover versions are getting anywhere close to this one!
I love his woman's music...I also love Etta, Elton John, Stevie Rae...no particular Genre...let's not analyze this to death people...just enjoyyyyyyyyyyyy the ride ....

This song is timeless i'm 19 years old and can relate to this because i'm going thru it now she spoke on behalf of her generation and all future generations alike. Thank you Aretha

There is no other soul song like this, nor a singer like her. Thanks for this post.

Aretha is the undisputed Queen of Soul.
Nina Simone remains the High Priestess of Soul
Tina Turner is the She Wolf of Rock and Rhythm
Etta James is the Miss Peaches, Soul Sista
Mavis Staples is Madam Gospel Soul

@SuperBlackWoman1 We all love Aretha but there is no reason to be childish to other soul singers, right?

@dearmiley77 I know. We're not in any war to decide who is and who isn't. ;)
I just don't think it is necessary to hate other people in order to love Aretha.

@SuperBlackWoman1 aretha is the best ever no doubt about it, but adele and jill scott are pretty awesome.
