The fireworks are real and WERE actually there but some of the fireworks on TV was computer generated because they were afraid it wouldn't show on camera because of the dense clouds and night weather. Only on TV though!

If they put a footnote saying, "this is a computer generate approximation of live firework show. The real footage is not available due to safety reason".

Actually, the footprints were real, but they used CGI for the aerial footage of them as they had safety concerns about putting a helicopter near them.
the only reason britain is accusing China of faking fireworks is bc they can't put up a show nearly as good as the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2012 in london.

The footprints segment was fake check out the interview by the beijing times the creator of the footprints is gao xiaolong, the footprint fireworks were ready to be fired but after consultation with the powers that be and the beijing olympic commitee they had to go with the fake as the chinese only had one live feed for 3 billion viewers the alternative would have been a segment of darkness.

The snow in Canada is made to walk on not snort. How do u explain the live camera shots of ppl with same sequence of fireworks and they were live. stop smoking, snorting, shotting up with the snow. Only David Copperfield can do live CGI. And even if it is true, why ruin it for us. Seeing that you guys may not even get a medal at all. :p Go China! Aewsome specticale. But that isn't even close to what we saw on TV in Canada. Officials now ADMIT IT. They CGI'd some of the fireworks and mixed in pre-recording of the other. Also, the "ugly" girl was pulled and a "pretty" one lipsynched for her: the Chinese Mini-Vanilli Opening is what we call it now. Take off eh, hosers!

Peopla plz, the Frireworks was realm, the problem was the smoke and china just wanted to show a good show but whit the smoke they cant, so they make a premade video for show it on TV, but they used near 3 million dollars on Fireworks, and you can see it on this and other real and not edited videos.

They came out and said the televised version of the fireworks were partly CGI. China is a very superficial culture and very fixated on appearance. They just wanted to put on a good show whether it's technically "faking it" or not. And then there's the whole deal with the lip syncing.

If they put a footnote saying, "this is a computer generate approximation of live firework show. The real footage is not available due to safety reason".
That would consider to be honest.
And by the way, why don't they say something like "the sound track currently playing does not necessarily the performance of the artist stage".

The ones in the clip above are real but the footprints (sorry to reiterate) were fake i have total faith in the technologicaly sound chinese to pull these types of shows off but in this instance this isn't the case not bitter or sour grapes just facts

Actually, the footprints were real, but they used CGI for the aerial footage of them as they had safety concerns about putting a helicopter near them.

The footprints segment was fake check out the interview by the beijing times the creator of the footprints is gao xiaolong, the footprint fireworks were ready to be fired but after consultation with the powers that be and the beijing olympic commitee they had to go with the fake as the chinese only had one live feed for 3 billion viewers the alternative would have been a segment of darkness.

Again, it is just not looking good enough. So they decided to show the world some footage previously shot.
That is why i am so upset, they said it is "live" but it was footage previous shot and computer generated.

I don't have any problem if i was told the firework is a computer stimulation of what is happening and the song playing is not performed by the artist on stage.
Hollywood told me superman is a movie, Beijing told me what it is "Live".
If Beijing told me that what i am about to see is a stimulation, i would not even brother to see the ceremony.
They misrepresent themselves and therefore tricked me into giving them credit for putting up such a great show.
That is why i felt i was tricked.

I dont think the ones described in the article are these. The faked ones where around the city and taken from a birds eye view by a cameraman in a helicopter. Supposed to look like footprints too.

Because all airplans are banned, so the further away footsteps fireworks were pre-recorded.
All the fireworks in the stadium and around it were real fireworks and it set a new guiness world record of more than 100000 firework rockets fired!
