I own 2 of these saws the 14" and a 16" the 14 I use all the time damn good old saw! The 16 eh its parts. Neither one of mine had that circle thing.

Hey man,

i had a bar like that on my old homelite. Pretty much same size saw, the bar was a 16 inch. Seriously though man, i think that wide tip bar like that helps out alot. I found cutting with it, that the tip seemed to cut alot better then the modern thin tipped bars. Seems to have easier control, and even digs in better.
