The first guy says that it sounds great for a machine that is from 1984. I don't know which machine he is talking about, but he is not talking about the machine he is using in this video. He uses an Amiga 1200. The original Amiga 1200 is from 1992. But since his Amiga looks pretty good, it could also be an Escom Amiga 1200 which is a 1995 relaunch (after Commodore crashed).
To cut a long story short: this is not the 80s. It's 90s nostalgia.
@AirSimming Right and wrong. Yes he is using an Amiga 1200 that came out in 1992 but the Amiga 1200 used a sound chip with the exact same specifications as the very first Amiga so it was essentially very same sound chip from the mid 80's, nothing was changed, and since this whole video is focused on them talking about sound then it wouldn't matter what Amiga they were using, it would still be able to produce the same result.
@blade004 But "the machine" (as he says) isn't from 1984. If he means the Amiga 1000 it's from 1985. If he means the 500 it's from 1987. But his "machine" is from 1992, or even later (if it is from Escom). It might be a similar sound chip but the Amiga 1200 actually has more kHz max and could create better sounds. But it's right that the machine can be used to create the characteristic 80's sounds.
hey, can't wait for the documentary. i've preordered. really hope you include some aspects of the demoscene. it's probably one of the most active areas of Amiga these days. Some great/talented coders still producing fantastic demos.
@DDGreyfox Ha. Yeah, getting a good idea is surely a nice thing. Once you have one, all kinds of cool things can happen....glad I went to go get tacos that night and randomly thought of making an Amiga doc...

For those that were not at Blip Festival. Stagediver smashed one of his Amigas on the table as his set finished. May it rest in peace.

@smilertoo
And A2000,A3000,A4000 were expensive (thousand $) but cheap compared to PC or Mac of that time.
So people that complain of SAM / X1000 prices are those who only know of Chinese made 1 year worth PC crap hardware of today
