  • rofl this was done before on wii XD

  • great job man, this is really impressive and i think u should really rich because of this

  • This would be sweet with crysis on pc with nvidia surround and 3d

  • so so is there a game so we can try this ???

how can i make it work with any normal pc game ???

  • It's looks like a portal to Tron world.

  • great job !

  • Cool, this looks great on a 3DTV.

  • @megamanfan3 the tv isnt 3d !!! the head tracking makes it look like it!

  • imagine that + a 3D TV! That would've been the coolest stuff ever

  • thats so sick...could only imagine games with that, like a wipeout hd type of flying throught the stars......cool

  • Do want.

  • sweet dude...haha tats kool...but wtf the last part was stupid...lmao

  • thats awesome!!

  • awesome

  • nice!

  • Now how many jouls is that going into your brain??

  • That's very nice. They should put that in FPS so you can peek around corners :-). Nice 3D effect too...

  • i think the new ps3 wii mote is based on this

  • Nope. They're using a gyroscope. Should've used this, it's cheaper and works better.

  • lol no

  • thats some funky shit :D

  • Is there a commercial something like this?

  • holy crap

  • awesome, your tv is like a tunnel!

  • It's like the front disc is coming out of the screen. C00L

  • nice!

  • omg thats amazing :o !!

  • I love your project... keep creating, keep sharing... shine on you! Thank you!

  • cool man

  • lol thats awsome

  • wooooow

  • NICE!!! And that's a spot on your resume!

  • You're a fucking Genius!

  • where do i go to learn step by step on how to do this

    please reply

    tnx-

  • a very good physcist and enigneer ....I love this guy.

  • I always love engineers teaching over the internet.

  • 4D! Truly amazing too bad no one is going to implement this anytime soon..

Playstation Eye seems to be doing worse than it did during the PS2 days...

  • aaaa

  • have you seen the old Sega master system 3-D! It was pretty cool for it's time

  • You can use a webcam with this! :)

  • this is the next gen of gaming

  • dang this is nice. You can work for the game industry. this is awesome.

  • aw man great something that SONY charge 80-100 bucks for if you know SONY thats what they'll do.65 bucks for a controller for example

  • ok this is pritty kewl seeing it done without the Wii mote, although its my understanding it can be done without any accessories just some additional stuff built into the software that allows it to lock onto a face and track its movment across the screen. ofcourse this has limitations like other movement occuring in the background and lighting the person properly but thats just something that will be solved by better software in the future...

  • Cool, but it doesn't appear as responsive and exact as the Wii version that someone did before you. I'm guessing that is because of your code, not because of the superior power of the Wii over the Playstation 3. ;)

  • which is non-existent (cough)

  • The SIXAXIS was DESIGNED to be 6DOF tracked with the Playstation Eye. The Eye can see the flashing LEDs on the back of the SIXAXIS, and thus track the SIXAXIS position in 3D space. So maybe you could try wearing the sixaxis on your head instead of having to make your own glasses and filter.

  • btw the ps3 doesnt track the sixaxis using the playstation eye or the lights on the sixaxis, it uses motion sensors in the controller itself, but yes i thought that it would have been easier to do it by tracking the sixaxis instead of leds coz the sixaxis would be a lot more acurate because its hardware based tracking not light tracking

  • In my opinion optical tracking is more accurate than inertial motion sensor, but you have the problem of keeping the visibility and solving the correspondence between image dots and the LED's. But is more accurate.

  • in my opinion hardware tracking is more reliable than tracking an infra red light because it doesnt have the issuse of lights getting blocked out etc optical tracking may be more accurate (i dont believe so) but sixaxis tracking is also cheaper and more practical than wearing a couple of lights on your head

  • I see the point. I think you may be right overall.

  • wow this could be done on the computer with a webcam led's and a piece of exposed film whats that £10 mabye?

    THIS NEEDS DEVELOPING!

  • This would be so frikkin' cool for peeping round corners in FPS games and also would be great in sports games like Tennis so you can actually see the true distance of the ball. Come on PS3 developers, screw Mesmerise, GIVE ME THIS Desktop VR!!!

  • Man, we should have resistance 2, killzone 2 and others use this tech because all that it is needed already exists. Just include some $10 glasses, $5 lens for the ps eye with a big selling FPS, have the software available on ps store, and there you have it! a revolutionary game that could sell millions!

  • Man you are great, imagine a FPS game made with your invention. You could patent it and make some good money selling it to developers and companies :P

  • oh my god

  • nice one mate.

    that is brilliant.

  • Ps3 is climbing to the top again :D

  • @xxAlucarDraculax not that impressive mate, the same idea could be used on any console, or any webcam, 360

  • @theholycorpsedrummer too bad no 360 video came out about this :(. HAHA.

    Go PS3 !

  • Imagine what FPS's would be like with this technology.

  • Very very cool. I want one! Good effort dude, great invention.

  • Ok that looks really cool!! it would be funny if a little man ran out of the screen and hit you LoL!! but it does look like you could just jump in and just stick stuff in there!!

  • Right on I was going to say you need to contact Sony about this so they can do the lens caps things and make games for it but its really cool that you are going to let the developers have it. It looks pretty insane and seems to make it 3d. I can only Imagine what that would do with 3d glasses and picture with the motion sensor.

  • kewl

  • COOL

  • Cool man. Nicely made.

  • thats freaky looks like you could stick your hand in to the screen XD

  • this is awesome!! since i am a diehard ps3 fan its coool to see that this is possible. Awesome vid

  • let's hope this goes mainstream on any console. it would be a big step in game development. nice vid anyway

  • the original one for the wii looks more clean, and better and easier to use

  • Yeah it does but the Wii is easier

  • thx for this verry intresting video :D

  • fantastic work, thats the future right there.

    ant productions uk.

  • the ps3 could do this with face tracking

  • the face tracking was develuped from this dude. they figured out how to do it with out the glasses.

  • Hey they showed this at gdc did you get credit for it?

  • cool bro

  • you can connect either the ps3 eye or wii mote to the computer and do it with a pc as well

  • Wii suck and its a piece crap that you do everyday

  • this dude rocks.. damn it so good for the ps3..

  • dude, yes i was hoping that somebody would make this for the playstation 3. i saw for the wii and thought AWSOME! but it was for wii. for a playstation that rocks! thanks

  • WOW that's awesome, dude that looks just like what a 3D-tv can do. I don't know much about how this works but you maybe just found out a cheaper way to play in 3D I guess. I rather wear those glasses then wait for 3D-tv to come out or even pay for the damn thing :)

  • that's awesome

  • god damn i feel like gumping into the tv

  • i gived 1+ to evry coment

  • ok ok me too!

  • u know what would work perfect with this? time crisis. cuz u move ur head and shoot with the gun.

  • Soon m8, soon :)))))

  • uber nerd though dude, but i love the nerds, makin cool ass stuff like this man!!!

  • ps3=greatest console EVER!

  • i dont uderstand anything!!! i betthis took yrs to learn!

  • he made his camera see infrared, then he hooked it up to his computer, so that he could track the glasses he made (that emit infrared light).

then he made a program to move the images on the screen around accordingly.

  • thats so cool becuase it looks 3d imagine if you had it in 3d mode with 3d glasses it would look even more real

  • headachess

  • u better like god of war

  • my psn id is bubu_4_u add me

  • I thing that its better fitted to the ps3 because i think that the wii can't handle it

  • @SluckyDutch this was showing for the wii first and it can handle it there are ir leds in hte sensor bar and you can use the wiiremote to track them !!

  • this is freakin cool! when can i buy that?

  • ...the main function of the wii remote uses a camera. and now that johnny lee has aparently patented the idea (not confirmed, but i've read it in multiple places), we should see use of this fairly soon

  • Sweet!

  • WooooW that was sweet!! pretty amazing!!

  • People Like EdwardCarlCurtis should just STFU like agood kid should!

    FACT.

  • people like silentman510 should live up to their name, and remain silent.

  • cool**************

  • thats soooo cool xD

  • man , he got the idea from the wii's wiimote , sony stole the same IR camera idea and he used this

  • WOW!!!!

  • hmmm cool :P i hope they make virtual reality 3d glases :D

  • Congratulation! Thats MCGuyver style work right there.

    Thank you for being.

  • wow no money for your code!? GOD BLESS PEOPLE LIKE YOU :)

  • I DONT GET IT!!

  • What Are you? Are You A GOD???

  • Sell your idea to Sony!!!! They might start making games that will use that! That was freakin awesome!!!! Dude, you are a genius!!!!

  • That Shit Was Wicked, He practically a fuckin Genius

  • las gafas tenian una camara?

  • Hey man, that is realy realy cool, honestly if you dont work for the government or a high profile tech firm, then you have to... you realy do, we need more peopl like you in this society, and yeh.. do you need beta testers? my psn id is Spanky_ :)

  • nice man good work that was a simple but smart idea for the most of it except for the sooftware ofcourse tat must be hard

  • it looks 3d

  • NO SHIT

  • oh and it would make time crisis more enjoying too.

  • you know what? this could be the first step that could change gaming! Soon we will have VR training like "metal gear solid" to train super soldiers =D What Snake and Raiden had to go through. that be INSANE!

p.s. i bet you guys completely forgot about the VR training in MGS huh? =D

  • You're a genious. Congrats

  • i agree!

  • good vid.

  • pretty cool if their was a game like that

  • To let people know, I did not invent desktop VR. It's been around for a very long time. I just saw Johnny Lee doing it with the Wii which reminded me how cool it is as an effect.(It gets even cooler with flicker glasses)Johnny "wants to see some games" My perspective is that if I could do it on the PS3 then we'd be that much closer to seeing games using this tech as an interface. Expanding the possibilities that might allow it into the market by showing it could be done on at least two consoles.

  • please tell me if you ever need beta testing :) 29 year old canadian . psn id : Dakurv

  • man nice idea!!!!

  • O.o wha?!?! is this 4d graphic?! xD

  • no just 3D any other game that isn't liek that is 2D

  • Nope. It's still 3d, but from your perspective. (as in where you are standing in relation to the tv.) Normal games show you graphics from a fixed perspective. (like a photo in a frame, or as if your constantly in front of your tv.)

  • you fucking rock!

  • hey guys does anyone know exactly how to download flash player on your ps3?

  • They update themselves. If Adobe lets them that is. Other than that, you'd have to buy Linux if you want to play games like for example, the quality of Runescape.

  • You don't, it's already on there.

  • freeky

  • duuude wtf

you are like the coolest guy i have ever seen :O

how the fuck did you do that

that was lika awsome, someday i think ypu will be the nwe einstein and shit :)

  • You seem like a Mad Scientist....therefore...You Rule.

    Keep up the great work!

  • Now that is pretty cool. PS3 FTW!

  • Stupid fanboy. Go right a head and take your brickbox 360, Brickbox 3shitty, shitbox 360. Shall I go on? Penis doesn't even rhyme with Playstation.

  • lol hell yeh!!! RROD 360 hahahah lol

  • PLEASE don't go on.

You criticise him for insulting the PS3, yet you then proceed to do the exact same thing that he did but for the Xbox 360.

If you're going to make a point don't be hypocritical about it.

  • But, but, its so hard not to be hypoctitical sometimes. And I own them both, but I was just voicing my opinion on which I think is better.

  • i can play wii on my ps3 check out my channel

  • kick ass man

  • Woohoo! Can't wait for games with this on!

  • cool

  • ridiculous i feel like I could jump in there almost

  • thats pretty sweet

  • dats koool

  • wow

  • all consols better have this next generation

  • no ONLY THE PS3 - 360 IS SHIT!!!!

  • nice

  • Good to know that you took the time to credit Johnny Lee for the original idea. Johnny Lee is effing brilliant. Everyone should definitely take the time to watch Johnny's video though, if only to see how much easier (and more accurate) it would be to incorporate VR head tracking into the Wii console. Nice video. I hope this encourages big developers to incorporate this technology into upcoming games.

  • cul

  • cool

  • neat work!

  • yay, the wii doesn't have all these motion sensing stuff =D.

  • What a genius!!! That was cool.

i wonder how cool a game can be with that VR tech

  • how did u get that software on ur playstation 3

  • are you chester the maulester

  • Amazing!

  • Oh god 3D

  • really Genius!!

  • what

  • what happen if you turn your head left or right ?

  • I was wondering the same. If you turn your head with respect to the camera, the distance between the two LEDs would shrink, giving much the same result as moving away from the screen. Now if the program can manage to triangulate the general locations of the LEDs' positions, then the problem is non-existent. But if not, then I'd figure that at the very least, a third and probably a fourth LED would have to be used to determine head orientation. At least that's my uneducated analysis.
