  • I wonder why in Taiwan they speak Chinese instead of Japanese...btw, the google translation is not accurate~~~someone translated strange words into Chinese, and it sounds so funny, I suggest u to study some basic Chinese before putting on ur stupid words

  • btw to my prospective the BIGGEST Chinatown in this globe would be "Taipei"

  • In 1895, military defeat forced China to cede Taiwan to Japan. Taiwan reverted to Chinese control after World War II. Following the Communist victory on the mainland in 1949, 2 million Nationalists fled to Taiwan and established a government using the 1947 constitution drawn up for all of China. Over the next five decades, the ruling authorities gradually democratized and incorporated the local population within the governing structure.

  • In 2000, Taiwan underwent its first peaceful transfer of power from the Nationalist to the Democratic Progressive Party. Throughout this period, the island prospered and became one of East Asia's economic "Tigers." The dominant political issues continue to be the relationship between Taiwan and China - specifically the question of Taiwan's eventual status - as well as domestic political and economic reform.

  • Taiwan runs a large trade surplus, and its foreign reserves are the world's fourth largest, behind China, Japan, and Russia. Since President MA Ying-jeou took office in May 2008, cross-Strait economic ties have increased significantly. Since 2005 China has overtaken the US to become Taiwan's second-largest source of imports after Japan. China is also the island's number one destination for foreign direct investment.

  • Taipei has focused much of its economic recovery effort on improving cross-Strait economic integration by opening the island to greater investments from the Mainland's financial firms and institutional investors, and providing new opportunities for Taiwan financial firms to operate in China. In January 2010, Taipei and Beijing began the first round of cross-Strait negotiations on an economic cooperation framework agreement.

  • Breaking away from the Greater China family. The Chinese Heritage. Won't give you a least bit of advantage. *Taiwanese* is still seen at the bottom of the Western Hierarchy.

Taiwanese ARE Chinese. Hong Kong Chinese ARE Chinese. Singaporeans ARE Chinese. Overseas Asians of Chinese descent ARE Chinese. Just different kinds of Chinese descended from the same dynasties, same emperor, same heritage.

Taiwan does not belong to the *PRC*, but Taiwan is and will always be an inseparable part of China.

  • @cnjptw I am Chinese-American. I think you want to die.

Taiwan does not belong to Japan. Taiwan is and will always be an *inseparable part* of mainland China (not necessarily meaning PRC). This is historical legacy since the Chinese Ming Dynasty. This is the Washington consensus. This is the Beijing consensus. This is the Taiwan ROC consensus.

If Japan makes any claims over Taiwan. America and Beijing will nuke Japan immediately. ROC Taiwan will send all missiles over to Japan.

  • @cnjptw what a ignorant!

  • @ThePattank taiwan formosan island has rich culture of mixed japanese & chinese, i like to visit taiwan again if have chance, taiwan should be independent from both PRC and japan, the UN & USA should ensure that taiwan will have its own independence as a country,UN force should protect this nation if it is threaten by any country in the far east

  • @cnjptw

  • @germing

  • @akanekonasukon

  • Wow, this clip is nicely done. Thanks for posting it!

  • nice song, sexy man.:-)

  • nice music selection for the movie. beautiful.

  • I just came back from the cinema watching this movie, this song was so eloquent and subtle, yet so powerful..

  • as a Taiwanese, i am really proud of cape no, 7...

  • So subtle and sentimental. Very Oriental as well. I think this song really is the highlight of the movie. I was mesmerized immediately when the melody came out. The lyric is beautiful too--the humble yet powerful longing, the sorrowful yet persistent hope. Thank you for uploading!!!

  • simply brilliant!

  • Great movie, great songs!

The relation between Japan and Taiwan is that simple like in the movie. The feeling Taiwanese hold toward Japanese, like in the movie, are deep and complicated. It's not a thing Chinese can understand. No wonder they hate Japanese, and always want to control Taiwan.

  • nicely said!

  • It's easy for you to say that. Right, Chinese can't understand the feeling between "Taiwanese" and Japanese and you can't understand why we hate them either because your grandfather or mother isn't killed by them. Why people so ignorant like pretending they know everything?

  • Comment removed

  • So... Taiwanese and Chinese have different histories and memories. Thus we cannot understand each other's feelings.

We cannot identify ourselves with each other, but we should respect each other.

Chinese grandparents were killed by Japanse; Taiwanese grandparents were killed by Chinese.

Chinese hate Japanese! Should Taiwanese hate Chinese?

  • We are all entitled to hate anyone, but I have to know the person before I can hate him/her.

  • You seem to have "BIG Chinaism".

Overall,Japanese have much more positive effects toward Taiwan than China which barely do good things to Taiwan except threatening Taiwanese(what about thousands of missiles toward Taiwan) just like they violate Tibetan.Nearly people from around the world except from China know that China is a country shows contempt to humanity to an ultimate end. China should change their attitude to others other than push other to accept them.

  • Comment removed

  • IF Taiwan belongs to China, then CHINA why requests various countries' acknowledgment ? It's simple logic.

Just like if you have a car, you don't need me to admit you have a car.Forces the OTHER country acknowledgment is meaningless.

  • If you are a pathetic moron , I still need a doctor to testify it, so does Taiwan, sob.

  • hi~how u doing .chink~@@Y

  • You are right. Nothing in common between Japanese and Chinese.

And calling Japanese as "jap" and Taiwanese "fake japs", but your favorites are those Japanese Anime stuff, hahahahaha.

  • It's not Japan's wrong-doing to rule Taiwan for 50 years, it's based on the contract Chin gov. signed. Study the history carefully. About everything China said, well, I pretty mush don't give it a damn. They always blame others, denied their horrible deeds like Tan-Ann-Main Square event, the mass killing in Tibet. The information come from China Gov, most of the time is distorted. About war crime, stop accusing Japan, pretty soon, I believe China will do the same thing to Taiwan.

  • All Japanease was shocked by his Existence,so natural,so simple!

We support him with all a lot of regret and few prides.

  • I want to watch this program in Japan.

  • yes, it is beautiful.... words can not describe it, the power of his voice....

  • His excellent voice in reading those 7 letters echoes in my heart, and somehow he has done a great job in presenting the two roles in the movie. I love all the songs in this movie. I hope when the DVD comes out, we get to hear all the songs at the end of the DVD!!! Wait for the real DVD; don't buy the Chinese pirate copy! Hurray to you all!

  • He is not the narrator of the letter.

The 'reader" of the letter is another Japanese.

  • Thank you so much for the video!

  • thank you so much for uploading!!! i love this
