I just got one of these today and you saved me some time poring over a manual for the basics. Thanks! BTW, that's a nice camera case/bag. Who makes it?
Do you have to put in a tape?what if i make a video and wanna post it on youtube, would i be able to do that?im getting this camera and also does it film in HD? SOMEONE PLEAASSE ANSWER!I WANNA KNOW BEFORE I BUY IT!!!
@SUPERHEROLUVR The first thing you need to know is that this camera does not shot HD video. If you are not a profesional video producer DO NOT buy this. It is a great camcorder but if you are going to use it for family reunions or just for fun it is too expensive and complicated for you.
Correction, it's "Happy FILMING" NOT "Happy Shooting" ... I'm sorry, that's just one of my pet peeves from a Director's standpoint. But other than that, great video.
@ThaaatsEnough use any dv tapes....but some experts stress using the same brand tapes consistently....use good quality thicker dv tapes ( sony masters are good) since the cheaper brand tape will deteriorate over time and you wont be able to sync time code in final cut because of metal particles and dust create artifacts... i am talking about tapes that 5+ years old
@crichhawk This video was designed for residents of the Masonic Village, a retirement community. The residents of the community had absolutely no prior video experience, but wanted to dive in head first. This video was designed to give them a basic understanding of the beginning concepts of using the video camera. It was supplemented with in-person training for more advanced functions after they were familiar with the camera's basic operation.

If you need to watch this video, you should not be spending this much on a camcorder.

@SandmanVideos thanks!

@yemsols You use a Firewire cable. And also you need to have the proper software such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut to capture your videos.

Anyone can attach the battery, turn it on, etc.--not worth discussing. Also volume is way too low.

@crichhawk Fair enough. It has been hard to find videos on the DVX that really explain the camera in detail.
