I've had a hard time finding an honest mechanic. Thanx Willie you show interest in having happy customers by showing us how on youtube. Hope you get a lot of customers. Your video helped a lot.
@crownviclvr I've never seen an injector go bad on a 4.6. of course there is a first for everything. those engine are really bad for coil failures, coil boot failures, and plug failures. try swapping some parts around like shown in this video and see what you come up with. If you do find a bad coil make sure you replace the plug on that cylinder!! remember use only motorcraft plugs and coils.
Great video. I have an S80 I just got today and its a 2000 with 120,000 on it. Has been taken care of pretty well and is clean but the engine sounds like the one in your video when you pop the hood, are the S80s supposed to sound like this? The car runs good otherwise, full power and drives smooth.
my check engine light on lexus es300 1998 read "cylinder 2 misfire", my mechanic recommended to change the ignition coil. Should i only change coil #2, and do you have any suggestions if i try to change it myself (ex: where is cylinder #2- front back, right/left)? thx
I have a 07 ford F-150, and i just changed the spark plugs after that the check engine light came on. i got it scan and they said it was P0420 code. Catalyst efficiency low bank 1. Probable cause: (1)Catalytic converter defective (failure possibly due to # 2,3 or 4) ( 2) Engine misfire or running condition. An associate from a auto parts said it was the fuel injectors, i think is some thing else. Can you help me?
@georgelopez22 i have a feeling this may be a little bit to in depth for diagnosis over youtube but we can give this a shot. was or is the vehicle running bad? if so this will cause catalyst deterioration. 90% of the time a P0420 code sets when the converter is indeed bad. catalytic converters are covered under a U.S. federal emissions warranty for 8 years and 80,000 miles! which means if your converter is bad Ford must replace it at no charge! i suggest ford diagnose this problem. Willie B.
bought new plugs for chevy venture V6 1998 when installed them i got misfire on cylinder #1, changed plug and wires set . got same thing #1 misfire..everything always ran ok before until the new plugs went in.. they are one of the highest watt plugs anywhere..but company said should be fine . OIL looks clean, coil has spark..
Great video and good information. I have to say this does not show how to test a coil nor learn about the system. For the most part this is very simple and somewhat accurate but not intirely. You can still have a coil not being fired and does not mean the coil is faulty even if you have power, ground, and good pcm. Vehicles nowadays use stragety where it would shut down another cylnder and give youa code for it but it has nothing to do with that coil, its just the way it was designed to work/
@maycor1076 your exactly right. there is still a boat load of problems that i did not eliminate. the video would be an hour long if i were to get in depth and would be far too technical for the average youtuber. also at the beginning of the video i said "diagnose without a scantool".
your blazer has a distributor ignition, so there is many more variables in the system. first check and make sure you have good spark plugs (not bosch). then spray your plug wires with water and see if you have a voltage leak (external sparking). if still no problems found it could be a stuck injector poppet, which may require expert diagnosis. if still no problems found do a compression test and eliminate any mechanical problems. the #4 cyl is the middle cylinder on the passenger side.
Wow The man the myth willieb66 responded! And hey thanks And why not lets make my pos public. I have replaced wires and plugs but still not 100 fixed. Can i upload a video or something showing you??
you sure can try if you think that will help but i have a feeling its going to be a little more difficult than that. but first off make sure there is no wear on you distributor cap and rotor button if there is replace them with quality parts. if still no luck hollar back at me. are there any other codes stored in the pcm other than a P0304 cyl4 misfire?
