  • I saw the Monkeemobile first hand in a hangar at Sydney airport in 1967 ... my dad worked for the airlines back then and took me and my 2 other Monkee-adoring 13 year old girlfriends to see it ... we were like "whoa man ... " but that was as close as we got ... too young for rock concerts at the time :(

  • @emjaynie You rock!

  • love it!!!!..

  • love it!!!!

  • "We're too busy singin' to put anybody down..." People could learn a thing or two if they were only Monkees.

  • The weird thing about retro is that this shit used to be current and shit nowadays will one day be retro.

  • These are the opening credits of the first season, which you don't see too often these days.

  • My favorite 2nd grade memories right here...these guys were so funny. :D

  • After viewing their Pizza Hut advert with Ringo Starr, I just had to view this.

  • I'd forgotten about the MonkeeMobile....

Why don't we see gimmicks like that these days...?

I wonder, for instance, what a "Westlife" mobile would look like...?

  • My god--look at all the youngsters repsonding who were not around in 1966!

  • @steve7138 I like to think of that as a good thing. Don't you agree?

  • @steve7138 This show used to air on Nickelodeon or TV Land like 15 years ago if you remember it was on every night.

  • 0:13 and 0:40 Micky's smiles are adorable

  • Yeah Davy is cute :p xxx

ohh. the monkee at 0:08 is davy.

  • who is that at 0:08 ?

I want to know his name ;-)

he had a very cute smile,

    just like george harrison!

some monkee fan there to help me?

  • That is Davy, he´s the British one in the group; if you pay attention, there´s the accent sometimes when you hear their songs. Try a nice song by them called "Daydream Believer", lovely lovely!

  • Davy Jones

  • That's Davy. You're right about his smile... and George Harrison!;-)

  • @LittleHarrisonGirl That's Davy Jones.

  • When did Mike start losing his hair?

  • They did show this intro in the first round of syndication (I saw it then), but after that they replaced it with the second intro because everybody knew them and they could play the who's Peter schtick without confusing people.

  • lmao. my best friend made a remix of this song called mummys. IT WAS FUCKING GOOD!

  • The Fucking Monkees

    LOL

  • The Fucking The Monkees !!!!

    are kidding me

    The Fucking The Monkees

    LOL

  • LOL..OZZY !!! from the Jerky Boys movie?

  • i love this tv show

  • the monkees are 1 of my favourite bands and im nearly 14 :) x

  • Groovy.

  • I don't recall seeing this intro after all these years, wonder why they excluded it from syndication, including the pilot intro ,which is song slower and has an altogether different style.

  • Ha ha! AWESOME!!

  • Was this intro ever used after "The Monkees" ended their primetime run? I don't remember it.

  • They always used the second season theme song in syndication for as long as I remember. They showed an episode back in the late 1980's though that used this first season intro in syndication. I wasn't even born when the Saturday morning reruns of The Monkees started in 1969 and was 4 years old when the show started in syndication in 1975 so basically the second season intro is the one that I remember most.

  • I first saw "The Monkees" on CBS on Saturday mornings around 1960-70 and never once saw the first-season intro, so thanks for verifying what I remembered.

  • YEAH, Peter tork was the only one wanting to play the music!

  • peter tork was the only taleted musician on this show

  • Actually, Mike Nesmith was just as much a musician as Peter. He played guitar & steel guitar before the Monkees. The only two that starting playing professionally AFTER the Monkees started was David & Micky. But, don't worry, I know what I'm talking about. I'm not just making a statement to get attention (like others do). I'm just interested in stating fact.

  • Love the Monkees! Davy Jones was my very first crush!
