Just to update this the OP discovered they installed the polymer cage upside down, so for everyone who is wondering why this happens thats why.

WTF did you do? (I'm HS5 from the forums FYI) Can you take some close-ups of your tang? In all honestly I have no idea how you did that without chips in your tang (or chips out of your ball)
