I dont play any video games, but I will guarantee you I have coached more games than Hubie in the past 10 years. Also doesn't make any sense that your man isn't open because "you can't see him". Especially against a zone defense, you already know where your team mate is and you are more concerned with reading the defense.
@plusEV If you don't see your man it means the same thing as if he isn't open: you aren't going to pass to him. That's a bad pass if you even try it. Good try though lol
It is actually the way the game is evolving. You put your 4th and 5th options in set spots, usually opposite corner and opposite guard/point, but you can put them wherever suits your team strengths. Not to difficult of a concept, especially if you drill the hell out of them on off-ball rotations and progressions.
no duh of course u have to step into an open spot and in a 2-3 defense the other top guard playing defense will pick off that long pass if he is quick
I have been to a couple of Hubie's coaching clinics and met him. He is a very intense man but has one of the highest basketball I.Q's I have ever seen.
what you can do is probebly center on edges and try to get 2 defendes on the wing to come to you im preatty sure it would leav the center open to a shot or cousing to a foul
I agree with you 100 percent. Again, it's good to overload the zone, but 4 players on one side messes it all up. It also takes away the idea of attacking the zone from behind (from the baseline). I can live with it though. As you pointed out, chemestry is very important and as a team you want to be on the same page in order to acheve success. Thanks for the advice.
We actually start off by having 4 players on one side with a two guard setup. With a man on the wing, one at the albow, one in the corner and one in the short corner. An atvantage might be that the weakside wing might get a good chance to cut backdoor for a layup. When the ball is beeing skipped when short corner guy and the high albow guy switches positions. It didn't seem too difficult for the defenders to cover that..
When my team plays zone offense against a 2-3 zone, our (not too experienced) coach wants us to start of with a 2-1-2 setup. I can see intention of trying to overload the zone with 4 offensive players on one side, but I would think that it would be smarter to start off with a 1-3-1 setup instead, cause you make the zone work harder and the wingplayers would be open more often. Against the zone I'd think it would be best to place yourself where the defenders are aren't... any comments?
Was this made with random folks from a retirement home? Perhaps that explains why he has to yell for them to hear?

Hubie is washed up when it comes to basketball principls. Defenses have become too sophisticated to base your offense on the space of a 3v3 drill.

good video and everything,
but what if your playing 5 on 5 basketball? Most zone defences are 2-3 so theres 3 defenders in the back.
What could you do then?
