... I can't believe people are saying dogs (especially dogs like basset hounds) are dangerous... I have one, and he is just the sweetest thing in the world, it's a shame I didn't tape it when he did the same thing to my baby cousin.

Because my parents doesn't allowe me to get one bcus of it. if it doesn't are true by get sick of a dog which licks, then the chances are big for me to get one :). if there are anyone who knows pls reply :)

@19LoveTheEarth95 When I was a baby sometimes people would freak out because my mom would let the dogs lick my face but it debatably was actually a really good thing. You can only build your immune system if there are germs for your body to fight and conquer. The dogs licking my face as a young child made my body healthier. Not only because of the licks but owning dogs has been said to help extend your life.

@19LoveTheEarth95 If you're bringing a dog into your house you should always get it checked out by a vet. If you want to rescue a dog try and get one through the pound or other animal rescue groups. A pure breed dog doesn't always mean it's healthy so make sure to check out the breeders. I have a mutt that I rescued from the Humane Society and a pure breed lab that was given to me by a breeder who is a friend of the family. They are both healthy and happy dogs who lick my face all the time (:

I love basset hounds and I love babies, but this wasn't too bright putting a dog right next to a newborn. You don't know what the dog could have done plus there's too many germs for a new baby. I was raised with a Basset Hound from infancy (the dog was 2 years older than me) and he was a true and loyal friend for 11 years. He would sleep under my crib and run and get Mommy whenever I cried.

No, it isn't. He is a domestic dog, and if you don't expose yourself to a bit a germs, your immune system won't be able to fight bakc if you are not used to.

Have you noticed that babies, and little kids lick the ground, eat dirt, goshhh! they do, (I did it when was a baby) jajaj), It's perfectly alright, unless the baby had some medical condition of the immune system.

It's true. My family had a Basset when I was growing up. My oldest sister got married and had her first baby. I was talking to my mom in the garden, the baby was in diapers, and our Basset was sitting next to the baby. Our neighbor came over, and for the first time ever, our Basset started to growl just slightly. The closer the neighbor got, the more she growled, got up with teeth bared, hair on her back up. She was protecting the baby. Bassets are very protective and love their family.
