  • We had a band opening last month and I was able to get a QSO with a guy 60 miles south of Birmingham, AL

  • epic 147.165+, i can hear that repeater from my roof antenna, but my HT antenna is on the north side. if i go outback it works great.

yea i guess dayton seems to be the meca of ham radio for some odd reason.

  • thats crazy. 146,940 is a repeater we have in my town W0GkP

  • I can just imagine someone with a scanner hearing your call on like 10 different repeaters in a row... i bet they would be like... WTF? haha!

  • Yaesu 2800-M i presume

    I have that radio

    KD0HON

  • haha. that's only 10 khz away from mankato's repeater. (morse code for GIGGITY)

  • I love that radio you must have a good antenna up to be able to hit that one repeater on only 10 watts in its that noise I do 65 because on the other end if you get a report back it might be way to much noise please use a lot more power

but never use more then need people if they say go ahead in use 65 do but don't talk for hours at 65

  • it the real thing the band was wide open that day

  • i hate that animated shit...its sooo annoying!

  • well, it was just more easy to say my call that i was monitoring than to say cq cq cq it sounds like you are calling a contest.

  • out of curiosity why do you say your call and "monitoring" rather than calling cq cq cq followed by your call?

  • Because, On repeaters in Northeastern Kentucky, calling CQ is frowned upon and considered impolite.

  • that's kinda weird, it would be considered impolite even though that how they put it in the books and tests....i dunno, guess some areas just dont like it.

  • Yeah, kind of a misnomer. Ahh, there are a few machines up in the tri-state metro (Huntington, Ashland, & Ironton) that don't even encourage operators outside of their "little circle", yet publish their information in the directories.
