  • Hello Babs I was checking out this song and your version showed up so I gave it a listen and really enjoyed it . Love+Peace Lance

  • @lance4919 Hi Lance! Thank you so much! One of my earlier posts - simply done! Regards! <3 Babs

  • Listen Babs, Tim Hardin wrote this song... and Downtown Train was written by Tom Waits. Rod Stewart is just a pimp with a good voice, but no soul.

  • @schordese OK, I get it. Point well taken....(-: Babs

  • Nice job! Glad Tim Hardin tunes are still popular. And you brought out his poignant lyrics well in your expressive cover of this song.

  • You have one Hell of a voice , I could listen to you all day ,hope you don`t mind me saying, you remind me a little of Stevie Nicks , TOP CLASS!!!

  • Wonderful performance of one of my favourite songs to sing. Same chords and key and there the similarities end. Thank you Babs. for giving me a standard to work towards.

  • @tony59able Ok Tony! Time for a duet! lol! Thanks, as always, for your kind words! (-; Babs

  • Wonderful job!! You sound GREAT, vocally, and guitar playing! I bet you didn't know that Anne Murray sang this song, sometime pre-70's. It was not released on any of her albums though. I got a copy off the internet ( probably bootlegged ) don't tell anybody LOL : )

  • @zjmn58 Wow! I didn't know that! Well, you know the connection I feel to her so I'm not surprised! Thank you for sharing that and for the compliment! (-; Babs

  • Babs, you always play songs of my favorite songbook. We have a lot musical taste in common. A really good song to start my holliday!

    Cheers, my friend,

    Bernd

  • @BoeckmannLudwig Thank you Bernd! More to come to add to your favorite songbook! I'm sure there are many more songs that we would both have in that book! I am also just beginning my "Easter" holiday, or "break", as they say in New Jersey! I will have a nice quiet week to post some more songs! Enjoy and relax! All the best!

  • hey babs

back in 68 and 69 i spent two of my best years of

music education at loop city junior college in

downtown chicago where i belonged to the

folk club where i had my first on stage experiences

and this song was one that a fellow performer did.

    ahh the good old days.

    peace,rich

  • @kidderminsterbro You just can't beat the memories from those days! I wish I could find a "folk club" to play at! I did my first open night in awhile last week. It was alot of fun, but not like the "coffee house" used to be...(-; Babs

  • You did that perfectly !!! John

  • Beautifully performed my friend, a real treat ;o)

    Mark...

  • Very good babs,Cheers!!!

  • @PeterLisboa66 So good to hear from you Peter! Thanks so much! (-; Babs

  • Hi Babs,

Great cover of a great song.I do this one myself but I do Tim Hardin's live version from his "The Homecoming Concert" cd, a great cd.You've done this song justice in your own style.

  • @shargram Thanks George - I just love this song - it's so 60's folk! Still thinking of a good duet to do...(-; Babs

  • I love Rod Stewart's version, heard it before I heard Tim Hardin's (both are great.) It's almost like you have a playlist of my heart''s favorite songs? .... Nice job Babs!

  • @1onlyphil Thank you my friend! Glad to be on the same wavelength! (-; Babs

  • Great song excellent interpretation. You do have a unique style.

    allen

  • Good choice of an artist to cover. Not that many are aware of Tim. Dylan had the highest regard for his writing. I think TH would have appreciated your take of this beautiful song. All the best. ~ Mark

  • @manriq47 What a nice compliment! I always thought that this song and "Don't Think Twice" were a bit similar in a way. Glad you liked my rendition1 (-; Babs

  • Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song....I liked this song the first time I heard it by Tim Hardin....then later I was put off it after Rod Stewart murdered it....so you have restored my faith in good music.....so many thanks....kev

  • Oh Babs.....so damn good.......so very pure. What I like so much is how you relay your emotional connections to the songs.

    TY for this gem :-)

  • @oakvillian2003 Thanks for your kind comment,Steve! Most of the songs I choose are ones that I have an attachment to! Thanks for noticing! (-; Babs
