I disagree. The vocals are a what brings it back to it's black metal roots, and the music cements it there. If you're suggesting something along the lines of their "Somewhere Along the Highway" album, like "and with her came the birds" in particular, yes, the vocalist has a damn sexy voice, but that type of singing wouldn't fit with this instrumentation.
Are you suggesting that this band isn't similar to black metal? If so, I'll point you in the direction of Xasthur, Burzum, and Graveland. I'd say they're more doom metal though. They also remind me, especially with this song, of Zaraza.

The band is great. I just wish they didn't do the cookie monster thing as much. The "singing" is the weakest link.
