I have a Judd fan since I was 3 years old lol!! My mom says everytime they came on the radio I would go crazy signing and dancing...I even asked Santa for a LP of them when I was 5 lol!! I love her soo much and she is very underrated by the radio & the main stream music industry!! I wish they played her music more often!!!
@SuperBurton80 I agree, and I think that this track in particular is very underrated. David Foster later used a similar arrangement of this song on Celine Dion's Christmas album, but I think that Wynonna's version is better.
It's March and I'm playing this over and over. It's like she's sitting in my lap channeling Patsy Cline. What a lush arrangement for a bittersweet classic.
I agree. Most artists who cover this song produce versions that sound like... well, covers. Wynonna somehow manages to make it sound new. This version is very underrated, I think. I'm surprised it doesn't get more airplay every Christmas.
Exactly. I'm all for covers, I love listening to different interpretations of a great song. The issue is there are very few artists who truly reinterpret a song as opposed to simply re singing it. Either way, this should really get more air play come the holiday season.
I agree, but I think it's the combination of Wynonna's voice and the great arrangement. Celine Dion used a similar arrangement on her Christmas CD, but it just isn't as good as this one.
Oh yes - the arrangement, the orchestration - everything is sublime. But Wynonna's vocals - listen to the way she sings the word "heartache" - she does something with these lyrics no one else can do.
David Foster's "A Christmas Album" is one of my seasonal favorites. And "Blue Christmas" is my favorite cut.
Elvis would love her voice. I think she is one of the best female singers out there as Elvis was the greatest male singer. They both have soul....PEACE
you didn't need to cough. it's a proven fact that wynonna is one of the best vocalists overall. no, i'm not tryin to take away from freddie MERCURY, tina turner, satchmo...or anyone who has made a name for themselves as a great vocalist. you didn't need to be so juvenile in responding to my comment.
first of all, thats not something that you can prove. secondly, i'm sorry if i sounded juvenile, but i was trying to get my point across. thirdly, im 14, so im not exactly mr. mature.
does anyone else think that Wynonna is Elvis' daughter???, she looks so much like him and she also favors Lisa Marie.

This is my favorite version of "Blue Christmas" - period. I didn't realize how beautiful the song was until I heard Wynonna sing it.

elvis presly didnt write it. his version is just the most popular.
Billy Hays and Jay W. Johnson wrote it

Yes, I gave Hayes and Johnson credit in my notes on the right. (But I see my original wording was misleading, so I changed it.)
