Good to hear that you switch picks. I do the same. it depends on what I'm hearing off the instrument- so if I am not not happy with the sound I will change to a slightly heavier or lighter pick- depending on the sound that I'm expecting to hear- this for the cello banjo- in Australia I enjoy a nylon pick, .6 to .75 seem to work best but I have gone a tad heavier in sessions.
I wish could, but I tend to switch out pretty regularly. I usually stick to something a little heavier than most people use (.73 mm Dunlops), but I also use dulcimer picks (large triangles) from .5 mm to .73 mm. I also really Ultex (with the rhino on them) for durability and grip.
I've recently purchased a bouzouki, now I know what I must aspire to.
