boy did turner have 'that face' for the news... i miss that.. there's nothing like that now.... and his friend, al... i'm glad i recorded their tributes.. i miss their humor.. god, never had i laughed soo much nor have i laughed since.. during the hard hitting times of top stories. :(
@Mydickitches1 you've proved yourself to be the f'ing moron you set out to be. Mom and Dad (oh that's right Dad left you and your fat ass mother years ago) would be proud.
I loved jerry turner...al sanders, and the sports caster randy blair who died in a pick up game...2 all of them rest in peace and thinks for the fond memories.
I remember when Jerry Turner died. He died on New Year's Eve 1987. It was a couple of hours before 1988 came in. I still have the VHS tape when Al Sanders made the announcement about Jerry's passing. I also have the tribute that WJZ did on Jerry. I have to buy a VHS/DVD recorder, so I can transfer it. Once I do that, then I'm going to post it on here.
In fact, KYW - back when it was in Cleveland, in 1959 - was the first of the Westinghouse properties to brand its newscasts "Eyewitness News" - six years before Al Primo created the format associated with it in Philly.

I'm that substitute teacher. I've been out of prison for a while and run a successful daycare center here in Hawaii...

Al Saunders and Jerry Turner. I loved those guys when I was a kid. Now every news anchor is so uptight. What a team.

Seems that a lot of Westinghouse atations branded their new Eyewitness News (KPIX and KYW did as well, for examples)

The incident about the substitute school teacher is described in brief in the movie "Six Degrees of Separation".
