Nasty spot for that to happen! My first thought was that you had simply run out of gas, and needed to switch over to reserve. Being able to get going again with the choke engaged suggests otherwise. Please let us know!
I think that's what happened to my SV650. Water collects inside the spark plug chamber of the front cylinder. It happened to me while I was on a cross-country ride. I looked it up on my iPhone. Very simple fix.
Ya battery/electrics will be a bit funny boss. Had EXACTLY the same thing happened with an 01' FZ1 (carb'd). Ended up replacing Battery and CDI and it was good as gold. Turns out it had incorrect battery, the charging system overloaded the CDI.
Had a similar thing happen to my 76' KZ 900 out of the blue it started blowing the main fuse under ANY throttle load.. I went through everything and even sent the carbs to Oregon for a full rebuild by a dude that specializes in these bikes.. I think I finally found the real problem which was major corrosion in the start/kill switch.. I think the bike was arching over to the "off" position when there was enough current flowing and repeatedly blowing the main fuse.. irritating to say the least...
Whoa, you got an 1st gen SV and you're posting videos; Nice, kind of. I hope you get everything figured out. You might want to check out your Petcock, and the front cylinder's plug.
just wondering if the fuel line has a filter on it? the screen filters on the taps in the tanks tend to be the right size for letting itty bitty bits of grit thru that like to cause mischief :/
Something wrong with the stator or regulator? I see you had good voltage from the battery. I heard the motor sound like it wasn't getting enough spark possibly? Did you just get fuel before this happened? Maybe bad gas.?
I just had the carb taken apart and ultrasonically cleaned. I also had a new fuel filter installed. It's been taken to the shop, and they still haven't gotten back to me yet.
@88hawaii dang dude that sucks, i had something similar happen to me but it turned out i acedently hit the kill switch as i was stretching my throttle hand
Last I remember you had a Green ZX10R. What happened?

I have the same thing happened to me, I suspect it is the 10% alcohol in the fuel.

Well that sucks.

I hate that when that happens. Usually it's fuel starvation.
