Russia paid dearly for the sins of Alexander I. He murdered his own father and yet Russia was ok with it. That is why Russia has suffered so much. Alexander I should never have been allowed to ascend the throne after participating in the murder of his father.
But it was necessary to the Bolsheviks. A living Tsar or legitimate heir would have served as a rallying point for any counter-revolutionaries. By their logic, the Romanovs all had to die. They were martyred for holding fast to the faith. Lenin could not afford to let them live.
...I know I'm probably being a dumb American and not participating in the huge political clusterfuck going on in the comments, but...wasn't this in the Disney movie Mulan? Which is supposed to take place in CHINA. What is a Russian song doing in a movie about China?
All religions suffered greatly during the Soviet Union. Churches were blown up and the clergy executed. Synagogues were use to keep swine and other livestocks. All the mosques of Caucasus were desacrated. Even Siberian Shamans were tracked down and killed. This is what state atheism made of a great culture and multireligious country.
holy god bearing tsar nicholas, pray to god for us! pray for your russia, the russia you loved so much, pray for the diaspora in america and through out the world, and for all orthodox christians! holy god bearing tsar pray to god for us!
Do the people consider Byelorussia and Ukraina part of the Russian Motherland or the Czar should ignore them if here were to return? I guess Czar of all Russias implies those two countries included..but then that means the Russian empire is back..
Actually you have a situation in the Ukraine, where chiefly the government, desires Ukraine in Europe Union, and people accept it. But at the same time internally, old alliances are being renewed and Ukraine risks partition. Ruthenians move towards independence(they are ethnically Ukrainians, but culturally Austrian). Also living in the West, the former Polish lands seem to move toward reunification with Poland. Leaving those in the East split between pro Russian and pro Ukrainian Nationlists.
Maria Fyodrovna(may be spelled wrong), she was the Tsarina, the wife of Tsar Alexander III, mother of Nicholas II. A Danish Princes sister of Alexandra of Denmark wife of Edward VII of Great Britain.
Monarchy is the only social system which is genuinly comaptible with the Orthodox Christianity. The Orthodox kingdoms were all drawn in blood and have to be restored AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, otherwise we are definitely ruined. LONG LIVE THE HOLY RUSSIAN EMPIRE!!!!!!
Love the song, but I would leave the monarchs of any sort where they belong: in the past. We were all children in the past , loved it, cherish the memories, but all grew up and appreciate being adults.
I disagree emphatically. "Democrats" are spoilt self-centred children who think that they are the centre of the universe. No. such are NOT adults. They are brats and delinquents of the worst sort. Give me a legitimate king... at least, such knew their limitations... unlike modern politicians and other similar scum.
Everything is possible with Gods help, many saints knew what was going to happen with Russia, but they also said if she repented she could be resurected, if only for a short time

@Vostorgina01. i agree! i am an american but i see that our people are spoiled and do not appreciate their freedom. it is a shame our system allows anyone with the right connections and money can become our leaders. we could use a strong and virtuous tsar right about now!
@supermanapig A legitimate King is anyone who can seize power, having a king is election by evolution, the strongest is put in charge. I that king can be over thrown, then the new goverment/monarch, is indeed, stronger.
@jirachi212 In the past? You forget that most of the most democratic countries are actually monarchies: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands etc.. etc.. Look what abolishing the monarchy did for countries such as Russia, Germany, Spain (in the past), Iran etc...
@jirachi212 your position seems to be that when we become adults we should kill off our parents; obviously you cannot mean that. Adults do not owe their parents the obedience that was owed when children but we do owe them respect and deference. Vivat Rex!
The revolution was the product of atheism. Synagogues were blown to pieces just as Russia's churches were. Learn your history before you make yourself out to be a fool.
I think that there were disproportionaltely more Jews involved in Revolution in the early 20th Century simply because they were treated like dogs. It is a self fulfilling prophecy to say that Jews are evil and then drive them to a state where some feel compelled to do evil to save themselves. Trotsky, Dzerzhinsky, Bela Kun, Luxemberg, Leibnicht, Zinoviev etc...All were Jews that hated the Tsarist regime for the Pogrom. But then they became even more evil. It is all a shame really.
@ataramprat Agreed the Bol'sheviks destroyed synagogues as well as churches but it cannot be denied that many of the men who dealt directly with the imperial family in their captivity and eventually killed them were Jewish.
@ataramprat Just because Communists are atheists DOES NOT make all atheists the same as them. "Atheism" is an umbrella term for all sorts of philosophies and ideas. It is not Satanism. It is a religious philosophy, the same as anything else and should be treated as such.
Ryurik, Oleg, Olga, Vladimir, Yaroslav etc created great Rusj state with amazing culture. Mongols destroyed that.
Peter I, Ekaterina II, Aleksandr II made bring glory to Russia again, but communists destroyed that too.
Russia certainly will rise again, because "russkiy duh" is something that cannot be eliminated. It connects all periods of russian history. Y. Gagarin had it as well as Aleksandr Nevsky.
The Russia, that we lost. I just don't understand, why there are still comunists in the world? Don't you see, that they made with Russia? And the stereotypes about this country will not disapear in more than 50 years! The children, that were brought up on American propoganda will continue call russians "communist b*tches" But even in soviet times, there were a lot of people, who were against the system. Unfortunatly, russian matryoshka, for example, will be associated with communism and bears.
It's true I think half of the reasons America has sided with Georgia, is becasue they will alway see the Russians as Soviets. It's the same everywhere though, America/Holywood exports it's propoganda, and tells the world every nation is bad, ecept the USA, Holywood will rarely ever admit the US's own bad periods in history.
It's wrong to label a nation by one period in it's history, and the US seems happy to do this.
No, Americans are just plain stupid assholes who have strong superiority issues. Take it from some one who's lived in the USA most of his life. They aren't friendly and will find a reason to pick some country apart no matter what they do. Look at how they pick on Canadians. And what did they ever do to them? Know what i'm sayin?
Unfortunately, the bias against Russia didn't start from the Communist era. Crazy soceopaths(such as Queen Victoria)-who had orgasm from starting wars against Russia-existed in the 19th Century and even earlier.
Considering unlike the Tsar Queen Victoria could never just declare war,(she had to have the backing of the British Parliament or atleast the Primeminister), and that Britain has only ever been at war with Russia once, this would be a bit difficult. Also she entrusted her most loved niece Alexandra to Tsar Nicholas, hardly the act of someone who hated the Russians.
Thank God she could never just declare war, becuase when Russia helped the Bulgarians and bosnian Serbs rebel against the Ottoman Empire's yoak, in the late 1870s, she wanted very very very much to help the Turks crush those rebellions.
I doubt it, given she was highly in support of the German Empire(ruled by her Grandson), which encouraged the Bulgarian and Serbian uprisings. Germany in turn made Russia the Protector of them as part of the Berlin Treaty of 1888.
Also Britian practiced a belief in "Splendid Isolation" which Victoria supported. Whereby Britain tried to Keep out of as many European Affairs as possible, following the Crimean War.
All modern politics aside... at the risk of seeming childish, I think America could be best personified as a superhero trying to exist in the real world. We have a strong moral code, an ego that mandates we force that code on others, and the sheer, unstoppable power needed to do just that.
But what makes a superhero a hero is that he's a reactive force. He doesn't just go around beating up villains for being villains. When you cross that line, you aren't a superhero; just a superpowered bully.
Yes but one mans Hero is another mans terrorist, & alot of nations now view the US as the latter. Because, the US has tried to force so much on other peoples.
Also what the US sees as the best way, isn't always the best for everyone else. Different things work for different people and lands. What works in the US may never work for others. The US needs to grow-up and realise this, and the more someone forces it's views & ways on another, the more anti those views a people will become.
Exactly! Hopefully Senator Obama will be able to repair some of that damage when he takes office; he's as passionate and opinionated as any American, but at least he understands that you can't just force your beliefs on people. I just wish we didn't need a goddamned WAR every decade to remind us...
Greetings from Lithuania. It was Russia with culture and it had respect. It is so pity those days are over and little of hope is seen that Russian glory will be restored.
You will pay, hell is not far enough for you to run. Berezovsky, Khadarkovky and the rest of the Israeli-Passport holding Russian speaking skum whose grandfathers assassinated our nobles, churchmen and czar.
DEATH to you, Communists and agents of the devil.
CZAR and RUSSIA are BACK in ACTION.
CHRIST has restored Russia to save this planet.
Putin, Medvedev and other real Russians have taken the country back
All murders deserve to be caught and punished, but given that the murder of the Russian Imperial Family took place 90 years ago, who do you punish for it. Surely the Murderers are dead, and it hopefully seems as if Sovietism will never rear it's ugly head again.
The problem with returning to a Tsarist Monarchy in Russia, is that to do so now it must be Constitutional, like the UK and other European monarchies.
Another issue is who do you place on the throne, Tsar Nicholas and much of the Imperial family where murdered. There's still many Romanovs about, but few have a close claim to the throne, who do you pick?, especially when most of them have been born in Foriegn countries.
Even so there is a growing monarchist movement in Russia, so who knows.
I love how Tchaikovsky embedded this anthem in 1812 Overiture and March Slav. Beautiful choral group. Some day I will see Russia. bozhe tsarya khranit
i still bow my head to the Tsar when i see his portrait. Bolshevism is evil. it was not just the Western world's rival ideas, but it brought the worlds hatred on itself. How can people say 'i am a proud communist' when it is an ideology based on the murder of innocent children? may God rest the Tsar and may he be eternally united with his family whilst Lenin and Stalin serve an eternity in Hell with the rest of their commy 'friends'.
My great-grandfather, a cossack, was in the Tsar's army about 100 years ago. His forefathers, as he told me, attacked Napoleon's soldiers, when they retreated from Moscow. He immigrated to the US in 1921 but died on Ellis Island of Tuberculosis.
Wonderful. It ended on an up note with Alexei. Imagine all the people lives that would have been saved if Alexei and his siblings had not been murdered by the Communists and he became Tsar and prevent the Russian dark age from happening and ruled Russia instead of tht madman Stalin. All the victims of the terror whose childern and grandchildern will never be born. We will never understand all that was lost. So many good people just wasted.
There is some wonderful, inexplicable character about this unique national anthem, that commands the awe of all who hear it, like no other anthem can.
God Save the Czar, may he (and the other deposed monarchs of Europe) reign again.
PS: I am not a white nationalist lunatic. Indeed, I believe monarchy helps with immigration, providing a national symbol and identity.

Beautiful - both the singing and the video.
Among the rulers, Peter III and Ivan VI, the tragic duo, were missing :(
